Well that would suck. I was just there in July and didn't have any issues getting in. They have to check your card to get your club number and the exp is right on the front. Plus they usually swipe the card as well and I'd doubt you would still be coded as Platinum even if you dropped down to Pearl or something. Now an expired card does still work in the machines since you are still you. But i just dont see how you could get past a person looking for that.

MGM and Cosmo aren't even affiliated. How does this make sense that they would merge programs?

Exactly, I don't understand why there would be an impediment to verifying whether or not someone has a valid card. Even if they couldn't swipe the card, it would take fifteen seconds to call over to the Mlife desk and ask whether a person is still Platinum or not. But she told me flat-out that not only were they not doing free tickets for Platinum, but that there weren't even discounts (I'm pretty sure I was there a couple years ago when I was gold and I got some percentage off). She was very nice about it, but it's annoying.

EDIT: I get how some people could wind up having an expired card -- I usually go in October, and on more than one occasion I've found myself somewhere and realizing that I hadn't gotten an updated card yet. But this is a stupid reason to disband a whole program.

I would assume that express comps will still be earned for video poker. I hope the next shoe to fall wont be cutting the v/p pay tables like Caesars did ...

I sure hope not. Aria continues to have the best bartop VP on the strip (9/5 JoB at the $1 level at Lift Bar, and cocktails coming faster than I can drink them), and even at the $0.25 machines at Aria and elsewhere, the paytables aren't great but are still playable.

Agreed! I play a ton of VP when I stay there. Not getting EC or a big downgrade would put a kink in my Vegas mojo for sure.

MLife - No More Express Comps for Table Games Players?!?!?!

This is ridiculous. While most table games players that earn enough Express Comps to care about this have a host anyway, it's still always nice to just have them and not have to call a host for some things like hitting up a restaurant when you are in town but not staying at an MGM property.

this is another one of their petty bean counter ideas that will backfire.

the whole EC program creates an obfuscation of the comp system that I think actually keeps costs lower.

most average people just see their EC balance and use that for comps and never talk to VIP/host to get anything more.

    a) this keeps their comps at 8% of theo.
    b) this keeps them from wasting a person's time at the Mlife desk/host office.

so now all these $5/10 BJ players are going to get no ECs and then go to the Mlife desk to get a buffet or something.

this is going to not only create more work for everyone = more cost, but also open them up to the actual comp amounts that they should be getting i.e. 30-40% of theo.

a bean counter with a PhD and no common sense or gambling sense came up with this idea.

Add in the cost of those employees just standing there waiting for their computers to update/refresh. Their systems must cost them millions in wasted manpower.

I agree... some bean counters made a slick powerpoint presentation about all the money they will save. No mention of the lost revenue though.

I heard they are fixing the comp amounts at 20% across the board. Should save them a ton of money.

Well it shouldn't be a problem for you since you left so much unused the last few trips.
