Do you think $129/night is a good rate for a King Deluxe room at the Mirage weekdays in May? On their website the rooms are $239/night for the same dates.

The $239 is full list rack rate. $129 is a pretty normal rate for that room. You are looking way too early for the best rates. That being said depending on your dates, May can be an expensive month....very popular time to go to Vegas. If the $129 is a refundable/cancellable rate you could take it and cancel/rebook later if you find a good sale. I like smartervegas... they are a good source for hotel sales.

By the time you add resort fees you're looking at over $150.00 a night. That's more than I'd pay.

If you don't have a players card (Mirage is Mlife I believe), get one and you're next visit will be a lot cheaper, if not free.

What Tammy said! If you like the rate and it's something you can cancel, go for it. But I would hate locking myself into any rate (other than something completely ridiculous) this early. $129 doesn't sound bad, but it sure isn't the deal of the century either, especially for a weeknight.

That's more than i'd pay as well. I regularly get offers from Wynn and Venetian for that rate, and I hardly play at those resorts. IMO they are the best places to stay in Vegas. (although i have not stayed at Aria or Cosmo)

Never been to Vegas and have only been to the casino here in our city once probably 10 years ago so we aren't going to get any offers! I did sign up on Mirage's website and got an email yesterday for a pre-sale with rates including March 2014. When I checked those, they ranged from $129-288 per weeknight for a sale and dates in March!

Since you've never been there, it might be worth a shot seeing what kind of deal you could get on a package through Allegiant if they fly out of an airport near by you. Some times they have pretty good sales.

Thanks for the tip. The closest airport they fly out of is 4 hours away. I did try to check prices but they aren't showing them that far out.

Also, I don't know if you have your heart set on staying at the Mirage; but if you have a CET property with in driving distance of your home, I would suggest making the trip. Getting a players card for you and your traveling partner and playing even a little bit on it can get you great rates at their properties. (I would only suggest this if you don't care if you stay at a high end place or not) Hope this helps.

Keep your eye out on the promotions listed on Smarter Vegas dot com. It is usually the cleanest list of the most up to date promotions offered. Sometimes Mirage will offer promotions with a larger discount for a further in advance booking. Sign up for their email list and you will get the emails telling you about them.

Watch out before booking a package because sometimes you might get locked into something non-refundable. I can't say I have gone to Vegas once where my hotel didn't go down in rate as it got closer. Book separate to be safe and then you can call or just cancel/rebook whenever you see a change.

You can do this as much as you want and still cancel up to 72 hours before check in without penalty.

Thanks Doug, but that still has a higher rate - $259/night for the first 3 nights and $129 for the Thursday night.

A good rate is a wide open question. If you pull up a few months of rates at any hotel in Vegas, like Mirage... you will see that rates for the same room can run from $99 to $400...sometimes in the same week.

Pull up the monthly rate calendars for a few of the hotels and see what they are running. Then compare to your airline options and dates you can go and pick what works best.

The package price went down today and put the room rate at $103 after I subtracted the airfare. Then I realized that tax is included in that rate (not resort fee) so that brings it down to $90/night base rate. I have to wait until the end of next week to get confirmation that my vacation request has been approved and then I'm going to book it (non-refundable). $90/night is fine by me. I just hope it doesn't go up next week :)

I would check the calendar for conventions as that has a lot to do with rate too. 90 is ok but with resort fee it is 115 + tax, that is what i would pay normally but with everything being so expensive in vegas it still seems a lot.
