    Ok this will be 2nd time going to vegas,I am taking my daughter who will be turning 21 on the saturday we arrive in July.We will spend alot of time by the pool and we will knock back alcoholic beverages most of the day,just from my research I know the Mirage is a step above overall,but I am more interested in having fun we are pretty down to earth people from Cincinnati and really not interested in fancy restaraunts for every meal,we will gamble some but that will not be our main goal,kind of just looking to hang out with fun people.I like both pools but it kind of seems to me that there will be more going on towards the Monte Carlo end,doing a package deal including flight and the price is cheaper at MC but its really not a big difference.I appreciate all feedback..thx

    Mirage is much better! But it's still not pretentious. All the rooms were remodeled recently. The have lots of entertainment. Monte Carlo really doesn't have anything to offer, except it's location (but Mirage has a good location too). it's old, outdated, not much fun is going on there. Though, they have a food court, which would make cheap dining easier. Monte Carlo is one of the last places I would recommend. It's just boring.

    Unless it's a gigantic price difference I would 100% go with Mirage.

    Good kind of what I was looking for,will the pool area at mirage have DJ or music,price is like $100.00 more total over 3 days so that is not a factor at all.

    Mirage has more less expensive food options. And seems to have a pretty good pool as well.

    Better is in the eye of the beholder... and better is not always comfortable for everyone.

    Mirage by far. MC casino is boring to me and feels like a mall. The room was much nicer at Mirage, MC was a little skanky. Location is a toss up though. I like being near Wynncore and Venetian/Palazzo but MC is near City Center and Bellagio.

    Although I have my issues with Mirage (wish they would ditch their alliance with the Kardashian trash), it is BY FAR superior to Monte Carlo in all respects. A few years back I accepted an offer to stay at MC when they opened Hotel32 - their more upscale rooms on the top floors - and a couple grand in Freeplay. In the end the problem was this - no matter how much improved the new rooms were in Hotel32, when you came downstairs, it was still the dumpy MC, and crowded with their McDonalds bag toting, baby carriage pushing hoards. And if you stay in the regular MC rooms - be prepared to call security in the middle of the night, to come take care of the inevitable drunken, screaming fight next door.

    I stayed at the mirage 2 years ago and jumped over to MC to pick up my aunt in her room there. Actually i don't think the Monte Carlo is as bad as some people say, but mirage is still much better! I do not why but i kinda liked the Monte Carlo Casino.

    Mirage is one of my favourite properties in Vegas, even if a do not stay there i am hanging out a lot.

    Another thing: If you care about a view, i would not recommend the MC. The Hotel is so far back that it is almost impossible to get a stunning view. In this point, the mirage is also much better!

    MC is my new home casino...As long as the free rooms and FP are offered, I'm there. Actually, I think it has a bad rep. It has a good manageable casino floor, the rooms are just ok. I've stayed in fantastic suites and I've had worse deluxe rooms. Always very quiet (mid-week), good pool, many more food options than just the court. Tied right into Aria and a porn-slapper away from NYNY. I think the location is great also. As previously mentioned, if you want a great view go elsewhere...unless you have some kind of HVAC and conduit fetish.

    Mirage, hands down. No question about it. The pool will be CROWDED. Get there before it opens and wait in line or go around 1 when people start leaving. Mirage's pool is my fav by FAR!! Bring your room keys, both of them. Have fun.

    I brought both of my older kids to Vegas when they turned 21 and we had a blast!

    Interesting choices. The Mirage and Monte Carlo of 2 of my favorite properties for different reasons.

    The Mirage Positives
    * More upscale property than MC
    * Nicest Pool outside of MB on the Strip
    * Large Sportsbook
    * Large Poker Room

    Monte Carlo Negatives
    * My favorite casino w/ lower minimums for tables
    * Brew Pub on site. Good beer and cheaper menu choices
    * Nice Pool, not Mirage caliber, but you would be able to afford a Cabana there over The Mirage
    * Good location. Tram to Aria or Bellagio, next to NYNY. Close to PH and MGM
    * Lower room rates and above average rooms

    The Mirage Negatives
    * $400+ for a pool cabana
    * If you don't get a cabana, you will need to arrive early (before 10) to get chairs together
    * Not impressed with their restaurant options
    * Tend to get a few more kids because of the pool
    * Most of the crowd is lates 30s and up. I'm in that demographic, but if I was 21, I might look for a different property

    Monte Carlo Negatives
    * even though I am a big fan of their casino, it can seem barren at times. There are better casinos for people watching.
    * Also the crowd there is 30s & up
    * No Club like The Mirage, but next to properties that have clubs

    If I was 21 & on a budget, I'd pick Monte Carlo, but if paying $60 more a night + higher drink prices at the pool is not an issue, The Mirage would be a blast.

    If you have any sort of allergies avoid the MC. They spray something in the air at the pool. Sat out there last spring and my husband started having breathing difficulties immediately. He has severe allergies. We ended up going back up to the room for 5 hours till he could breath again. So just a warning about that.

    Now for my personal opinion I would pick the Mirage. Its so conveniently located you walk out the main doors to the strip and bang your right across from Harrahs food choices galore in the mall over there. Plus they always have a busy casino. The Mirage in my opinion is the best location the strip for trying to get across the street at street level. Its a fun area around there with Harrahas and Casino Royale right across the street.

    The pool is fabulous too. Drink service needs improvement.

    As for checking in and out no problems there. When you check out there is a guy with an ipad doing express check out walking around in the lobby you are done in minutes and everything is taken care of correctly from my experience including waving those resort fees. I have never been charged them at Mirage but I have been charged them at New York and Monte Carlo as well as Paris.

    :thumbsup: Did we kick MC around hard enough?

    I've never been to the pool at Aria, but I seem to remember a lot of grumbling when it opened about the glare off the glass/mirror building panels being intense and making people at the pool feel like they are ants under a magnifying glass.

    Aria is a jump up in class from the Mirage. I still think the Mirage is the perfect spot for this type of trip but if the price difference is less than $100 all-in, I'd have a hard time passing up Aria. ;)

    I would recommend Mirage over MC. If this is your daughter's 21st birthday and first time to Vegas, I would take her to Mirage because it is much nicer, both the casino and rooms. MC is a good location since it is near the center of the strip. I'm guessing you guys will be walking around and sightseeing, as I did my first time out there.

    If you prefer better location with more food options, go to MC (MC has a fast food court and nice restaurants, Mirage is limited in the food options although it is not too expensive at least in Vegas terms). However, MC is older and kind of ran down. Mirage is more on the north end of the strip and the walk will be much further to the center of the strip.

    Have fun!:beer:
