Looking to stay at Mirage, which will be fun for me for several reasons, not the least of which is its the setting of Vegas Vacation. But more importantly it looks nice, I've never stayed there, it will be convenient for SHOT Show, and I can get some free rooms hopefully thru myVegas.

Anyways, I recently got an email deal, and was curious what a decent rate would be to find for a standard room in January"? I may book the current deal I have just to lock something in, and then change things around later if I find better.

Well, it's really early to be booking January! Since promo codes don't go out that far. That is a pretty slow time in Vegas. So you should be able to find a good deal.. Weekday maybe $59-89 weekend $100-$150? I'd say if it's much higher than that, I'd look elsewhere.

Mirage is always a little high, I've noticed, and ALWAYS busy.

I think the promo they emailed me is $119 or so, and incl $75 food credit.

My thinking is book now, and cancel later if needed.

I'd say that's high for January if you aren't there for New Years or during the Consumer Electronics Show. You can book now but definitely look out for other offers.

Weekday, or weekend? If that's a weekend, then yeah, I'd book that. That's not really that high for January 2014, considering that not only is there New Years, but CES is 7-10 January, and Lunar New Year is at the end of January next year. I consider Mirage to often be a little bit more expensive than it's really worth, but not drastically so, and $119 is a pretty decent rate.

Okay, yeah, that's probably too much to pay for Mirage midweek. But as long as it's fully refundable, then you might as well book it, since there's nothing to lose. Hopefully it'll go down more, but if it doesn't then you're protected.

Awright, looks like I can get $100/nt thru someone in casino marketing. I am booking this, and will then attempt to get some free nights thru myVegas which will bring my total expense down.
