Planning our first trip to Las Vegas in May for my 50th, staying 4 nights. I really like the Mirage but don't want to pay double for a room when I can get a Go room at Flamingo or a strip view room at Harrah's for less than half price as posted on their websites now. I'd rather use the other $350 for fun stuff. I've read many threads stating that the Mirage is reasonable compared to those other two. Where are people finding these somewhat comparable prices? Four nights at Flamingo or Harrah's is just over $300 whereas the Mirage is over $700! We have not been in a casino for years and so there will definitely be no comps.

I would save the money myself. In the end, it is a room and you are sleeping.

I'm not sure where people would get the idea that the Mirage would be comparable to the Flamingo or Harrah's in price. It's a nicer property by a pretty wide margin.

If you have a MLife card, go online and see what they can offer you.

I haven't been to Vegas in over 2 years since a few months after my last trip, I had a baby and she will be 1 this month. I got a $40/night offer from the Mirage and I will be going Fri-Mon. I have never stayed at the Mirage but I booked it and will be going next month. So keep your eye out on the specials online.

BTW, I just got another email from the Mirage for more great deals there.

I'd agree with Mike and Nikerbokers....The Mirage is a much better property all around....you'll be there in prime pool season and it's arguably, still one of the best pools in Las Vegas. Since you're not going until May, I'd keep watching their prices (weekly, if not daily) and most important, sign up on their website for specials and if you can join Mlife on-line, do so. My daughter who is 26 and hardly played at all did that 2 years ago and she still gets $59-$79 offers all the time.

FYI - We're a similar age (I'm a few yrs older) and think you'd be really happy you went for the Mirage once you get there and walk thru the 3 different properties.

Sign up for all emails. Checkout smartervegas once in awhile. We usually go in April/May every year and I generally find December they come out with a lot of great sales for the upcoming year. I do feel that Mirage is a great property, I have stayed there once. I have stayed at Harrahs and Flamingo many times and they are fine, I like them, but overall hotel Mirage is nicer. Bally's new rooms are a great idea! I wouldn't commit to next May this early. Sales come and go all the time and it really is too early to worry about the prices for May 2014 yet. You are pretty much seeing rack rates at this point.

Thanks for the replies. I really have my heart set on staying at Mirage but just can't see paying double the price. I'm going to sign up online for MLife and with the Mirage website and hope that I find a good deal at some point before May.

Haven't read everyone else's advice but my suggestion is this: stay 2 nights at the Flamingo, then the last two nights at the Mirage. For your first trip, I'd get the Go Room with the funky décor & the close proximity to EVERYTHING, and finish with the Mirage. Even for just one night. The bed is AMAZING.

Not knocking the Flamingo at all, as it was pretty much my homebase for a bit (until I decided to not have a homebase anymore), but if you're even considering the Mirage, give it a chance at a one-night stand. She won't disappoint. :licklips:

One thing to think about is if you're going on a weekday or weekend. On the weekends, the 1OAK (Mirage club) crowd is a young and very boisterous lot, but thas the only thing that would ever sway my decision.

Even if you decide to not stay at the Mirage & opt for a Go room, you'll have a wonderful time (but just try it for one night). A $20 trick at Mirage during the week got me upgraded from a regular non-view room to one on the 19th floor facing the volcano & Venetian/Palazzo/Wyyncore. VERY nice.

Hey, that's a great idea. I will probably do that if I can't get a decent deal.
