OK, I found the bedbug report on Google and it seems The Mirage has bed bugs on some of their floors. I don't want to sleep with bed bugs and I sure don't want to bring freaking bedbugs home with me!!!

    What to do???:nono:

Take a good once over of the room, bad, sheets, pillows, under lamp shades etc. simply for piece of mind. I'm sure bad bugs are easy to miss but can also be just as easily identified. If you come across something, GTFO of there!

I would guess you have a better chance of hitting the jackpot than getting bed bugs.

Actually surprised we have not seen talk about bed bugs in quite some time.

Personally, I believe every hotel has some bed bugs - but we have yet to run into them that I know of. We are in hotels maybe 40 nights a year.

I understand the concern and to be extra safe, there is a bedbug luggage spray you could use before you pack your things. The spray should take care of bedbugs coming from other people's luggage into your luggage during travel. If by chance you find bedbugs, you can rest assured that you did not bring them there. Taking precautions like this, no one better insinuate that you brought the BBs, just in case!

Tell me more about the Bed bug spray.... name, where to buy...

Never thought about getting it from someone's luggage.

We always do the bed rip down check, night stand, and head board if possible, etc. Then move the luggage from the tub back into the room.

It is a pain in the ass, but it has to be done.

All I did was type "bed bug luggage spray" into Google and saw that quite a few vendors sell this product. As far as luggage, if someone did pick up bedbugs at a hotel and their luggage was next to yours in transit, some may jump ship and mileages will vary. LOL

I read a news article awhile back where a city had to pull a bunch of transit busses out of service because they were infested with bedbugs.

they apparently hitch a ride almost anywhere.

You've been to Vegas 50 times and you're this worried about it?

just one of those things we have to deal with.

just check the usual hiding places and all should be ok

I sure wouldn`t let it be enough to keep me away from vegas!

It hasn't been that long that there has been an epidemic of them, just the past couple of years and that's about how long it's been since I've been there. Last time I was there I stayed at a friend's house. Don't let it irritate you. :ssst:

50 visits sounds a little suspicious in this instance to me. Just sayin...

    Suspicious, lol

I'm 62 years old for cripes sake and live in AZ, I've been coming to Vegas since I was in my late 20's, so 50 visits is nothing for that amount of time.

Okay, okay. My mistake. I admit, reading through your posts I pictured a 22 year old girl! Probably not so fair to judge books by their cover but I'm usually pretty spot on! I could of sworn that "50 visits" was not there when reading through your posts last night. Anyway, sorry to rear things off topic

Back on topic. Here are some bedbug reports from Mirage.. http://www.bedbugregistry.com/hotel/NV/Las-Vegas/Mirage-Hotel-and-Casino

Bed bugs are everywhere, hotels of every caliber and not something that can be controlled but that report is a bit disturbing because of where else they have been reported lately.

No problem (J). Maybe I've entered my second childhood, lol. Thanks for the link to the reports. Even The Wynn shows up on there, so I guess you just have to examine everywhere you go. I guess that I am asking so many questions is because this is my first time going solo.

From previous discussions and artcles in the newspaper and on TV it is my understanding that bed bugs have been around for a LONG time. They were pretty much kept under control by DDT before it was banned. As I believe I read that today's strain of bedbugs are resistant to DDT so if for some act of Congress (do they still act?) it was possible to use DDT again it wouldn't work. In spite of pest control companies and the chemical industry the only known way to exterminate them is by enveloping the area and killing them with heat like 140 degrees F.

That being said, if there was a spray that you could buy on the internet, wouldn't the exterminators be using it? Wouldn't the hotels all have a storage room full of bottles in case there was a report? My guess is that it is modern snake oil, for some people trying to make a fast buck for people desparate to try anything to solve a problem no one likes.
