DH & I just stumbled upon $88 RT tickets plus $63 total at Rio for 3 nights over a long weekend that we have off in Oct...
I pulled out the coupons & such we didn't use last month...
Looked at what we have & since we are really only there 3 days/2 nights (early Sat-late Mon), I don't see use needing to get any rewards...
They have become valueless to us over the years; even the BOGOs we used last month we decided it wasn't worth the effort to go to a casino we weren't going to anyway, redeem them...and we weren't sure they saved us all that much.
    Oh, well....

What's the point. You got a great cheap trip. Many would love that with no rewards.

eaglejohn--I think the rude comment is unnecessary.
Those who follow me here realize that I squeeze every penny out of every dollar I spend in life & take great joy in great deals.
I cheer those that stumble upon such flight deals as these--it has been years since we have seen a deal of this magnitude. Everyone has the same opportunity to scour deals in their area...sometimes we get lucky.
I am grateful for the over $2K in all but free rewards we have redeemed since MyVegas started. (I have spent $57 total in chips)
Just another comment on the expected devaluing of rewards over the years...

The Aria Buffet reward is always good, and the Whiskey Tasting at Monte Carlo. There's usually a few decent rewards to be found.
I stayed at Mandalay Bay last time so couldn't use any of the free play, but this next trip I'm going to try to redeem the FP at Bellagio for $175.

Using the rewards introduced my wife and I to properties and opportunities we hadn't experienced yet.
Money we've put into myVegas: None!
Time with my bride enjoying the redemption of our myVegas rewards: Priceless!

I have 1 mill in LP's and I have no idea what I am going to do with them. It seems if you don't go Sunday - Thursday there is really not much to spend on that I am interested in...

My friend is keeping his LP fortune (well over a million) in hopes a really cool Shaq reward returns. He really wants a Shaq outgoing message on his phone!

I'm in agreement that the game is become less and less useful, especially for those with high LP amounts. The good rewards just aren't as plentiful as they used to be.

It might be a bit hard to grab this close to your trip - but maybe something like the Maverick helicopter night flight? I really enjoyed that - it was awesome. I actually was able to redeem again for one & may use it again in November.

I know exactly how you feel regarding to casinos you aren't normally planning on going to. I have greatly decreased the number of rewards I redeem anymore. I want to go where I am enjoying myself and the extra time to redeem & use some of them just isn't worth it to me.

In April I made sure I condensed most items to one day - breakfast at Mirage, Secret Garden, supper at Mirage & Love basically keeping most all rewards to one venue. Headed to Harrahs in the middle to do the daily slot tourney and play there for a while. Half the rewards I have in my wallet end up getting refunded when I get home.

I thought about adding another night on to use a few more rewards. However I can add a 6th night in a Go room for $10 & no RF and get at least one light meal in a Diamond lounge, or I can add on an mLife one for about $30 to just use a few less LPs on a buffet reward. Not a hard decision for me.

A lot of the food and restaurant rewards used to not have stay requirements.

I could stay at a CET property but still get the $35 at Nine Fine Irishmen, for example. Now almost everything required a stay, but they've eliminated most of the weekend room offers.

I wish there were two values for a lot of these food and drink rewards... one that requires a minimum stay and a pricier version that doesn't.

I wish MLife would allow you to combine offers and MyVegas. I currently have a two night reward booked and cannot use my discounted rates along with it. I feel like it is pointless for me to play at any MLife property because earning discounts or comps on future stays means nothing if booking a MyVegas room negates it. If I can get comped nights at MLife just for playing MyVegas, I am better off doing that. Then spending my gambling budget elsewhere to get comps that I can use on the same trip as a MyVegas room comp.

Does anyone else get frustrated by this?

To me, free is free. It's a bonus to my trip, not an expectation so having a couple of buffets, monorail pass, drinks at bar at Times Square saves me a few bucks and, as others have said, gives us a chance to maybe visit a hotel I wouldn't necessarily have gone to otherwise. It may not be as good as it used to be but that's to be expected, anything is better than nothing.....

    Completely.

And with so many blackout dates now it's almost as if you have to plan your trip around myvegas if you want to use a room comp vs around your own schedule... or just get lucky.

Sometimes I get rewards, knowing I may not use them, but many can't be purchased once in Vegas. I almost always visit Wolfgang Puck in Crystals, so I try and always get a reward from there.

My next trip I am staying at an MLife property, so I have more MyVegas options. Will probably do Aria and Bellagio buffets, and $50 freeplay. But I hear you. I mean the Harvest Hour reward for Bellagio? It's one hour, and it's during happy hour when the drinks are cheap anyway. Not worth the wait in the MLife line. Hopefully they will improve soon. I miss Sensi and the free drink reward there, bartenders and drinks were the best!

I considered 2 comped nights at MGM--available 2/3 nights, figured we could both GET $25 FP...
But we are there less than 72 hours, hate a room change for such a short trip plus no RF at Rio, would have to pay $30/not at MGM.
Plus my fav poker games r center to north strip...did a few south strip trips & found my tourney returns diminish... Most tourney structures on south strip aren't as good. (south center isn't too bad, but Mirage is my fav these days)

I've spent money on XP in the past and I've redeemed for some nice rewards.

    THIS TRIP:
#1 - (2) comp room nights @Vdara. (It will cost $75 in Resort Fees and a temporary $250 in Incidental Hold)
    #2 - BOGO dinner buffet @Aria
    #3 - absinthe experience @Sage/Aria
    #4 - A 2-4-1 Breakfast or Lunch @Market Cafe/Vdara
1 BOGO Monorail 24 hour pass
    1 BOGO 1# candy @Hexx/Paris

I would LOVE to get a Foundation room/Mandalay Bay pass, but it's never available....
Decided to just do Eiffel Tower at Paris with a 2-4-1- LVA coupon instead.

I only redeem MyVegas rewards if I don't have to go out of my way and it fits in my plans.

    PAST TRIPS:
    2 nights luxor
    2 nights mirage
    1 night mgm
2 tix thunder down under excalibur
2 brunch & mimosa border grille mandalay bay
    2 cocktails octane excalibur
    live ufc stream
2 tix cirque du soliel zumanity nyny
    2 dinner buffets mirage
2 tixcirque du soliel love mirage
1 bogo entree wolgang puck mgm
1 bogo sandwich carnegie deli mirage
    6 bogo 1 day monorail
    $50 freeplay, $25 freeplay, $10 freeplay

Overall I think I've spent around $300 but I feel I've received more than my money's worth!
I "play where I stay" when I have comp rooms....no exact figure on that loss.

What did you think of the Absinthe experience?

Edit: Rereading your thread it sounds like you haven't used it yet.

Thanks! I'm considering doing it myself in a couple weeks. I haven't seen too many reviews on the reward.
