During our recent trip one of the bartenders mentioned the Microbrew beers are going up in price soon. I cannot remember if the new price would be 3 or 4 bucks. I mentioned it was a big jump and the reply was something like, "Yep, there're trying to cut out some of the groups that hang out here".

I believe they have some groups that meet there on a regular basis and just hang out. During one of our trips a group of bicyclists came and had a beer or two.

I believe the price was $1.75 during our latest trip.

Yikes! I'm assuming the brews will still be comped. I can't remember the last time I sat at the Boars Head or any bar in Vegas and actually "bought" a drink outright.

I met "Turtleman" as I was having a Boar Bar micro !
    Hey, Turtleman !
    *
Must be a BIG group ?....to be a pain in the ass ?.....nursing their brews....
I guess, the bicyclists didn't want to drive drunk ?
    *
I get a kick out of the guys that drink their 6 Miller Lites at Boar Bar ---
while the best micro brews are on tap in front of them !....at an INCREDIBLY CHEAP price !
    "How could you ?"
    *
    *
That would be a HUGE increase !.......say it ain't so !

Its rather surprising to me how many people do pay for drinks at Boars Head. I'll often see 5 or 6 young people come up to the bar, sample a couple of tap beers and order around paying cash.

I see the same Miller and Bud nonsense at the tables. I used to let them know that you could get the microbrews comped, but now just keep my mouth shut. About half the players didn't know and thanked me for telling them, but some got downright belligerent. I have absolutely nothing against Miller, Bud, Coors, etc., but think it's a sin to drink them at a brew house!

I'm sure they will be. Upping it from $1.75 to $3 makes decent sense. They can make more money (because many people will still pay $3 for these) and possibly cut out the riff-raff they are apparently trying to get rid of. I don't visit MSS often, probably the one casino I wish I visited way more than I do, but I never sensed a group of people that the casino might consider undesirable.

I don't think these groups are undesirable 'people', maybe just taking up too much space for too long for a buck seventy-five.

Wife just got home, she says $4, which means they are more than doubling the cost.

I'm sure they still comp the players since we 'pay in a different way', a phrase I heard from one of the bartenders.

edit to add: During our last stay we sometimes had trouble finding seats at the bar. On a couple of occasions the bartender, in a very nice/polite way, asked people if they were done so others could have the seats.

    that's it.
they're trying to cut down on people just paying 1.75 and sitting there taking up valuable gambling space.
you want to BUY beer, go to a bar..you want to gamble, go to a casino.
it's especially bad at Boars Head, because they have 9/6 JoB at all denoms...and if you got people just sitting taking up space, for people who want to play GOOD games, it's annoying.

I hope someone does confirm/deny the new prices, maybe I have a bad source. But, when you ask about the casino bar I wonder if we are talking about the same place. I'm referring to the Boars Head Bar downtown at Main Street Station. IMO it is the casino bar.

If you're playing you should have nothing to worry about.

It can be tough getting a seat at Boars Head so I have no complaints about a reasonable price for a good brew. I pay the old-fashioned way, by gambling.

Bicyclists? Maybe not the same cycling group that I've seen some in here. They did seem to take up space but we're spending lots of money on the drinks they wanted. Fast service; good tips.

The BH bartenders really know how to hustle. As one BT said, the Strip bartenders would have a challenge dealing with their bar.

$1.75 for a very drinkable microbrew? That's way too cheap. Let the cheap drinkers hit Fremont St More seats for us at the bar.:beer?

People pay for drinks at MSS?!?

Sort of kidding. Actually during my last stay at MSS I played very little at the bar compared to my previous trips because I noticed the bar was busier than normal and it was a different non-VP-playing crowd that I ultimately didn't enjoy playing alongside. So I understand if they raise their prices (not that I like any place I frequent raising prices).

Those micro brews have a lot of "taste", I dont like beers with taste, guiness/dark beers/honey weisses, etc - ishh. give me a watery beer please.

Yep - that's why I finally learned to keep my mouth shut! Really - I like "tasteless" beer sometimes too; in fact, I think I'll have one now when I go out to wash the car. (I must have a dozen different kinds of beer here - including the ones previously mentioned. It all depends on my mood.)

Yeah, why "buy" a beer at the bar when you can risk $20 and a tip? :)

interesting move on behalf of mss mgmt.------would assume prices will also go up at the 777 bar,but maybe not if reason is to open up seats for gamblers-----mss is my main casino and normally play at the boars head bar and dine at 777------see a ton of locals at both venues paying cash for their drinks, this move could backfire if these locals go elsewhere ----does not affect me since I get comped and will open up some seats -----as to the bikers, been there when they come in,a decent lot having fun and paying cash, some times 3 deep at the bar for an hour or 2---I just leave and play on the floor, go eat ,take a walk or whatever and come back later since it becomes too crowded for my taste, not a big deal ,

Sometimes when I'm staying elsewhere, I'll still walk down there and buy one of their brews, although I rarely sit at the bar for long. If I'm going to hang out and watch a game I'll go to 777, even though it was more expensive. It seems to me they're just making the price match 777, which not only might clear the non-gambling drinkers from the gaming area, but also get them into 777 to buy food. Assuming they don't raise prices there as well, I think it's a smart move.

And if I want one of their beers, having to pay $3 or $4 won't deter me. But then, I'm a beer snob who would rather go to Banger Brewing and pay for their beer rather than drink what most of the casinos will comp.

Me too! I prefer beers with less taste, LOL! I'm a downer....meaning when I get an ice cold beer I tend to chug it down in one or two takes.

I didn't realize you can get craft beers while playing at the tables. I'm a regular at the Cal and MSS crap tables every trip and am now thinking of having one of their craft beers while playing.
