Going to the MGM for 4 nights. Hope to come back with a great story to share! Maybe this time I will get closer to understanding how the comp system works. Any one who doesn't mind sharing, IM ALL EARS, lol.

Just got back from a week at MGM. First time I've been in the South Wing, and very pleasantly surprised. Nice room on 3rd floor, quiet, elevators arrive instantly and usually empty.

The pool complex is the big attraction for me, and it was not crowded, partially because the weather was mostly sunny but cool.

Great dinner at Fiamma, my favorite room in Vegas, and i really enjoyed the new Mexican restaurant, Hecho. Terrific guacamole and sangria. Did not get to Joel Roubichon Atelier this time, but it's always a winner if it's within your budget.

Didn't get to Hakkasan, but the cocktail lounges, particularly Rouge, were fine.

Used the Monorail several times to get up to Center Strip (Bellagio, Caesars, Cosmo, etc.).

On a rare visit to to a slot machine, I hit for $1800.00, which made things that much nicer.

In sum, MGM is almost my favorite, right behind Bellagio. But that's just me.

I had a great time on my last trip!! I won $620 on slot there :). It's a good place, just be patient with the size of the place.

    Ditto.

Also helps to make the subject/title more descriptive.

if you're asking about moving up tiers in mlife, you;re best off moving up by charging your restaurant bills to your room. It's tough to get there on gaming alone.

Just got back from 3 nights comped last month. Love the Grand King rooms and had a wonderful view up the strip. Did more gambling across the street at NYNY because it didn't seem like we were having much luck at MGM. Checked at Mlife desk on last day and they comped us a couple of brunch buffets. I always enjoy the sports book for the NBA championship games.

As with all Mirage properties (MLife), its all self comping unless you have a casino host or corporate offer. You earn express comps from gambling and can use them on anything from rooms to food to drink at the bar. That's about as simple as it gets.

It actually not that cut and dry. If you play table games the mlife rep at the desk will phone the host on duty and depending if you play enough they will give out discretionary comps without touching your express comps. In my experience they only give out discretionary comps when I lose. If i win they want to use my express comps. :peace:

We LOVE MGM Grand but only once in 12+ years we ever received a "comped offer". With that said if you are only low rollers then don't expect much........HOWEVER, since we change to Harrah's properties it's been nothing but LOVE at first sight.........FREE...FREE at last....Everything is FREE at LAST.... :)

As others have said, MGM comps are almost impossible to get unless you're betting some serious cash at the tables; I love their hotels, though - all very top notch.

Just gamble what you are comfortable with... charge everything you can to your room to earn more points, also you'd probably be best off gambling in one casino. It's all a little bit random, but ultimately it's just about how much cash you drop. We are talking thousands of dollars. If you gamble a lot you will earn a lot of Express Comps and you can comp yourself, basically pay for a meal or tickets with your comp dollars.

That's all you need to know. I don't gamble enough to be comped. But I still get some fantastic rates. Last time I stayed at MGM on an offer $56 for a weekend, that's a great rate, and worth it to me.

Are you saying the person at the Mlife desk will phone the host on duty and see if they can comp you stuff off your bill? In my experience, the Mlife desk person can see your play and can comp certain things...

    Its not really random...

Its about ADT, ADT is calculated based on a simple formula, and comps are a certain percentage of ADT.

The part that people get so stuck on and call it "random" is that we dont know the exact HA or hand per hour they use in the ADT formula...

Also, people come on here and say I played this much per hand for this long and I didnt get the comps I should. But in reality they didnt get the average bet or time played from the Pit boss, they just estimated it themselves. which throws off the numbers.
