Stayed the week at MGM, and thought some might want an update as to the remodel.

The first night they put us in the old West Wing, yukk. Actually, the room was fine, very clean and nicely decorated, but as anyone who stayed there knows, the rooms are tiny, and the window is tiny. We also didn't like the low ceilings in the hall, and the AC wasn't working well there either. The next morning I got us moved to the Grand Tower, and it was beautiful. I always liked the rooms there before, but they are even better now. I will post pics later when I can.

Throughout the hotel you can see little things where they are still working on punch list, but nothing major. We did have one day where the water was out, and they elevators were closed for a few minutes one morning, which was no big deal, except it was close to checkout time, and all the floors got backed up, so it took while to clear up.

As for the casino, there are still a lot of areas where there is construction, and there are area blocked off, but they are keeping most of the gaming areas open. One morning about half the machines had no power and the fire alarm was flashing. At night they often had large sections of walkways blocked off, but it wasn't at peak times, and overall there wasn't much mess or noise, or inconvenience.

Overall, very happy with hotel side, hope the casino turns out as nicely.

interesting. i hope these casino renos wrap up in the next couple of weeks, but i suppose that's asking too much. probably just going to have to suffer through it. but anything is better than the Mansion room being closed like last trip. :(

It may be going on for a while. I know that new mega retaurant/nightclub (Hakkasan), where Studio 54 used to be, is planned to open in December. I am staying there this week, so I am interested to see what renovations have occurred thus far.

my host said they're saying now they may not have it ready until March, lol. but i'm not really concerned about that kind of reno. i'm more concerned about major parts of the casino moved/closed for reno.

Just got back also and I didnt think any of the Reno stuff was being a inconvenience at all
Couple of small sections of the gaming floor being recarpeted and the front entry by the big lion statue being worked on
I was on the 22 floor in a remodeled room and had no water issues or any noise from the construction
