We're staying at the MGM and I was thinking about booking one of the Grand King Premier View rooms.

Are these some of the recently remodeled rooms? Are they in the West tower?

Regardless which room style we choose, I think we'd prefer one of the new rooms and one closer to the strip.

    Any thoughts/advice greatly appreciated.

Being closer to the strip isn't worth too much at MGM, because you're coming down the same elevators. Unless you want the strip view, in which case, go for it.

The Grand King rooms are in the main towers, not the West Wing. They are remodeled rooms. No rooms in the main towers are close to the strip. As was said above, all the elevators come down at the same place, just off the registration area. You still have to walk all the way through the casino to get to the strip.

I think most of the rooms are new... it clearly states if it is or not when you book.

That sounds like a good option to me! Nothing is close at MGM because it's such a large property. Just keep that in mind, if you are looking for an easy in and out, this isn't the place.

No doubt about it, if you stay at the MGM, bring your walking shoes. But I seem to remember that there is a way to get to the strip from the west wing without walking through the casino. If you walk the mile long hallways into the East Wing, then use the East Wing eleavtor, walk through the Red Lounge and out the smaller front door. This takes you to the strip right where that souvenir shop is next door, close to the m&m store. It is still the same amount of walking, but not through the casino. We stayed there for a week one summer and found different ways to get around. The West Wng is miles away from the pool, long walk through A/C casino after being at the pool.We never found a way to beat that cold wet walk. Thats how it was 3/4 years ago, maybe the layout has changed. Hope this adds to your infor. search.

That's true...you can cut through the west wing and come out near the strip. But I don't know if that's the case anywhere but on the first floor, because I don't know where the elevators are.

Back in the old days you didn't want to be in the west wing because the rooms weren't as good, but that might be different now after renovations.

Great tips. Thanks to all. Looks like we'll be avoiding the West tower.
