We are staying at the MGM Grand during the first week of April. The $25 resort fee is included in our reservation price. Can anyone tell me what that includes? I have read that we won't have a coffee maker. Will there be a refrigerator that we can use? Is there wifi included and where is it accessible? Did I read that there is a daily newspaper? If yes, is it delivered to your room each morning? What else are we paying for? Thanks.

You can always check the sticky for the resort fees and details. Here is what we currently have down for MGM:

    Wireless Internet
    Local and 800# calls
Newspaper (USA Today - available at News Stand)
Business Center (Copy & Fax - Limited services)
    Access to the Cardio Room

The rooms don't have coffee that I've noticed or refrigerators. You have to go get the paper if you want one (most people probably don't).

Ultimately, it's just a "fee" the perks are so you don't complain about it haha.

Also with tax it's about $28 a night.

Do you know if the wireless access is in the rooms or just in specific areas of the complex?

    The best deal

The Mirage has the best deal for their resort fees because they also include
the use of ROBES. No other hotel has that extra goodie that I know of except
    the most expensive hotels.

My cousin called me a liar for telling him that the Flamingo now charges a resort fee. He is an old fart that has a mean streak in him and thinks I am a flaky cousin. He plans to stay at the Flamingo soon. I told him a lot of the telephone
reservation clerks still don't know about the resort fees. I had called and I asked
the gal to ask her supervisor to get the hot news. I didn't have to pay the fee
since I booked my room before March 1st.

I don't think the news papers will be delivered to your door. You will need to
hunt them down or ask for it. Sometimes they run out of newspapers.

I am sure by now..... most of them have learned about the resort fees. LucyR.

P.S. READ SONYA's list of what each hotel has to offer for their resort fees.
Please inform her about your experience and what you got with your resort fees so she can make the changes to her list.

The MGM casinos have started wi-fi service for the casinos. It's free for anyone for the most basic bandwidth for two hours and more if you need more speed. I don't know if the room service works in the casino, though.

At MGM GRand you help yourself to a USA Today newspaper at the news stand that is between the elevators and the way out to the lobby....just walk right up and take one....no need for permission or anything else...learn that after standing in line only to be told that by the cashier....kind of makes it, like it's not really a resort fee perk if anyone can just take one and keep walking...now does it....I made sure I walked by this news stand EVERY morning and picked up a USA Today while heading to Starbucks for my coffee...didn't care if I read it or not....I would scan it and leave it at a Starbucks table...

Lucy mentioned robes available at the Mirage....GUESS what...they are available to EVERYONE if you request it....But DON'T TAKE IT HOME......I was told by housekeeping if it comes up missing you will be charge $250 for each one taken home....they are VERY VERY NICE ROBES...but not worth $250 by any means...Just call housekeeping and ask for a robe...they also GIVE you pretty nice white slippers to keep.

the whole resort fee has been a nasty suprise for so many.

MGM execs are quoted saying they hear positive and negative feedback on it.

apparently some customers that purchase amenities like wifi, gym, frig, papers, etc like one direct fee for the extras

What does the resort fee cover?

USA Today? I suppose if people got the LVRJ, they may learn that there are casinos in town with better comps!

We're staying at Mirage later this month.

The resort fee covers access to the gym. Does it also cover access to the hot tub, sauna etc?

If they did they'd be the first I saw that offered that.

Resort fees were a shady marketing racket by MGM properties to begin with, now that they're ALL doing it they may as well just jack up the room rates by that much and wipe the slate clean of resort fees.......But I'm sure that's not gonna happen.

The biggest reason for resort fees is they collect it when you check in/out and because of that it's NOT shared with a third party that may have booked the room...like Expedia and Travelocity.....so they are NEVER going away...

They could go away if Clark county forced them to be included in the room rates or at least force them to be optional. If they feel it will hurt tourism in the long run they'll act. How about it Oscar? What does the chairman of the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority’s say about resort fees? Then again this is a guy who will marry you for $3k at the Plaza.
