This is the Mon-Tue-Weds nights after the Superbowl.

All of a sudden, they're showing nothing available except West Wing rooms (@ $255!) on the 3rd and 4th, and no arrivals on the 5th.

There's 2 large conventions totaling 75,000 that run from the 4th to the 6th, but the home hotels for those are Caesars and LVH. And rates at the other MGM props don't seem to be affected.

I have a suite booked at MGM that week, but I'm starting to wonder if I'll get bumped.

Think it's the convention traffic, or does anybody know if something freaky-deaky big is going on at MGM Grand those dates?

I always go out to LV for the Super Bowl from that FRI to crack-o-dawn TUE and I noticed the rates everywhere on that MON were high across the board at all properties.

I'm positive it's all due to those conventions.

Chinese New Year falls on Jan 31 this year.. Perhaps an uptick in traffic due to that?? hoping to make it out for CNY this year.. ;)

If you are booked it shouldn't be an issue?

I don't see anything either.. weird! No concerts, no fights. Who knows, it could be a whole host of things. During the week it's usually some kind of convention.

Doesn't necessarily have to be CES for a hotel to be busy. Think about it, 500 or 1000 attendees, each needing a room. If they have a couple of these going on that can fill up the place pretty fast.

I have a reservation, but it's for a Penthouse City View suite, and I need a smoking room, and I believe there are only two rooms in the place that fit that criteria.

So when the entire inventory of the joint except West Wing rooms goes offline, it makes me worry about getting bumped.

I do have a suite reserved at Aria for those dates, so I can switch if I decide to, it just seems unusual.

It smells like a convention block got put on, but those usually only involve standard rooms. It wouldn't explain why the Skyline Terrace Suites, for example, aren't available.

This all just happened in the last couple of days.

I called a few days ago and got reserved for a grand king on these exact dates. I hope they dont kick me to the curb for paying convention goers.
