    My Trip Report

Well this was the 11th trip to my favourite place on earth. Every one of my trips have been awesome, but this one was just a bit more awesome. This was the 20th anniversary of my first trip to Vegas. Back in early 1995, my best bud Kevin and I booked a trip; it would be both of our first times in Vegas, which we went in late May of that year. 20 years later we both were able to book a trip around the same time where we had at least one day to hang out together.
    Day 1
This trip we actually flew down with a different couple of people, our friend Crystal and her cousin Donna. It was Crystal's first time so I suggested, as I always do for first timers, to stay on the Strip, so they stayed at The Linq. My gf Stacy and I always stay at The D downtown, and have since our first stay there in 2012. We love it downtown and especially at The D! One reason is we generally get our rooms for free! Another though is that we love the atmosphere, we love the loud music in the evenings and we love the dancer dealers! Also, the rooms are all brand new (in the last couple years) and the King Size 'D' Bed is the nicest we've ever slept on! We checked in and went back up to the Strip to meet the girls. After trying to check out Guy Fieri's new place at The Linq, where the lineup was around the corner, we settled for Margaritaville. The food was pretty good. I had wings and my gf had one of the best Quesadilla's we've ever tasted. Unfortunately the Margaritas were something to be desired... and served in a plastic cup??? Inside at Carlos & Charles you get a much bigger, and better Margarita at a much lower price... and in a Margarita glass!!
    Day 2
Breakfast at Du-Par's never disappoints, as we shared the best pancakes we've ever tasted, voted best pancakes in America as per Esquire magazine. Then it was off to the Monster Bingo at The Plaza. We actually planned this trip on our last trip in February, to coincide with this Monster Bingo. $150 entry for two days of bingo with $100,000 in prizes each day. Regular games at $2000 and a final jackpot each day of $30,000. Didn't win anything on our first day, but a nice lady at our table won $1500. The evening consisted of hanging out on Fremont Street. There was a country dj at the 3rd street stage, an Elvis (fat) impersonator at the 1st street stage and an 80's pop cover band at the Main Street Stage. I usually get my drink of choice, The Flaming Side Car, at the Golden Gate. You have to go inside (the drinks outside are a little pricey). I can't remember exactly, but it had Cognac, Grand Marnier and something else. They light it on fire and pour it over pineapple juice. Very strong drink for only $7. After a few of those we just bounced around Fremont until about 10pm when we realized we were drunk, and most likely because we hadn't eaten since breakfast. American Coney Island always seems to be the cure for this condition LOL. Great chili dogs and chili cheese fries!!! We gambled for a few hours to end the night.
    Day 3
Breakfast at The D Grill this time. We've never had a bad meal here! Then it was off to Day 2 of the Monster Bingo at The Plaza. About half way through the session, I got to yell "Bingo" to the tune of $2000. Trip paid!!! A lady at our table, the same that won the day earlier, needed one number for $30,000 after 44 numbers called. The lady directly behind me won it at 48 numbers. Consolation prize of $10,000 went at 53 numbers, but not to the lady at our table. She was shaking LOL. After bingo it was off to the strip to meet Crystal and Donna for dinner. Another couple of friends were flying in that day, so we met them as well. My choice for dinner was 800 Degrees at the Monte Carlo. I love authentic Neapolitan Pizza, and this was it! Excellent choice in everyone's mind. Walked back to the Linq where everyone was staying. They went to put leftovers away, while we decided to gamble a bit on our new favourite game, High Card Flush. I went to the bathroom while my gf Stacy sat down. When I came back I found out on her first hand she hit a $365 payout! What a great day for gambling LOL. We all then went to Karaoke at Ellis Island Casino on Koval. This place is entertaining even if you don't sing and we always try to squeeze it in at least once a trip. It runs 7 days a week from 9pm-3am and chalk full of great singers. Went back down to The D and gambled a bit before calling it a night.
    Day 4
Finally my best bud Kevin and his gf Cathy were flying in that day. We started the day again at The D Grill. Then went to play HIgh Card Flush at Binion's. Kev & Cathy met us there and we walked around Fremont..showed them Container Park, which is pretty cool if you've never seen it...a bunch of shops, restaurants and bars all in remodeled freight shipping containers. For our 20th anniversary dinner on Kevin's suggestion, we chose Pizza Rock. Another great pizza place!!! They'll do pizza in a wood-fired stone oven, a gas fired stone oven and an electric oven. So many options! Best Caesar Salad dressing I've ever had, although not the best Caesar salad... Bacon pieces and fresh shaved parmesan would have made it #1 in my books. After dinner we had a couple drinks, gambled a bit at The D (Pai Gow Poker) and called it a night... stupid 9am flight LOL.
All in all a great trip, and our best financially! So much so, we're all booked and going back in September!!!

Awesome to see you write the report buddy. I was thrilled to finally get back to The Happy Place together if only for a day. It will not be 20 years before we get back there together pal. I think it's awesome that 20 years ago on a whim while leaving a really bad movie we just decided we should go to Vegas and from that whim we both fell in love with the greatest city on earth.

    Next time musts:

Karaoke - Vegas needs to hear a rendition of our Boston duets. I've been working on my range and discovered that in fact, I have none.

Zipline across Fremont - We can fly like birds together.

Vic & Anthony's Steakhouse - You won't believe how good it is

    Nice report pally....
