So I am a regular on most of BeeeJay's trip because Gaggles is my best friend in real life and that's also how I met BJ. So I'm supposed to be heading to Vegas in a week with some boys from work, but Thursday I torn my MCL and possibly my ACL. Currently in an immobilizer splint and can barely walk, but should have a lot of mobility back in next couple days. I am supposed to see a specialist this week. I have full insurance on my Allegiant flight so can cancel for any reason within 72 hours, same thing on the comped room.

As I figure it here are my options:

    A) Cancel the trip all together

    B) Cane it, stay close to home (Flamingo) or a lot of cabs

    C) Scooter it which means I can go everywhere with the boys

    What do you guys think?

I would say go with B and C. Get out there and start with the cane. If you dont have any issues, just go that route. If your knee starts hurting, although I seriously doubt you would even feel it with the copious amount of alcohol in your system, then switch to a scooter. Since you arent sure how your knee will react with all that Vegas casino hopping, just come prepared!

Funny Huddler, exactly what I was told the boys yesterday. Gonna grab a cane for $20 and can rent a scooter via 702 scooters for $85 for the 5 days I'm there and just use it if need be.

Is that scooter a James Bond Lotus that converts into a submarine for pool time?

Does LVPD issue DUI's for scooter drivers?

I think it can be done with a cane if you basically park yourself at your VP Bar in Flamingo the majority of the time. It would almost behoove you to move to Bally's since that is your preferred destination.

One other possibility it to have Alexanbo's mom drain your knee every night. I mean she will be just a few feet away draining your cock, so that should be quite convenient and effective.

    D) Macklemore it....get two mildly attractive interracial women to wheel you around on a two-wheel scooter (tiger skin rat mink optional, but strongly encouraged). For those who don't know what I'm talking about:

Unless you really think you can park yourself, I'd go with the scooter.

Trying to walk around a lot with a cane, you risk not only your bum leg, but your back, hips etc. because you're not walking normally.

Nothing that would be permanent, and you wouldn't feel it while you were there because of the booze, but you could end up getting home and then feeling like you got stomped by a horse.

Plus it should make for some interesting stories. :drunk:

If you've torn the MCL and ACL, walking on a cane will only aggrevate the injury and increase swelling. Definitely rent the scooter and bring the cane. Use the scooter as much as possible, cane around the room and where the scooter.

My Dad walked with a cane for years. I rented my Dad a scooter on his Vegas trips for his last few years and the difference of mobility was amazing. He was able to get a round much more quickly, parked his scooter by his slots and got a lot of attention from the staff.

I did something similar, with similar timing a few years ago. After an evening of fun, a curb jumped out and tripped me, and I severely sprained my ankle. Exactly one week later, I was scheduled for a work trip to plan a convention in Vegas. I told the doctor I had to go, he gave me a double dose of the really good stuff and told me to have a good time. I was in a walking boot, and I honestly overdid it a lot, and I was only there about 36 hours. It prolonged my healing, and when I got home, I ended up in the hospital! That being said, I'm team Scooter. Just be smart and also watch the heat. You would be surprised how hot your leg gets in one of those braces.

Also, arrange with the airlines for wheelchairs everywhere! Standing in line at the airport always seemed to be worse than if I kept moving, and you can get on the plane first. Good luck!

I ripped up my knee a few months before our last trip. I had my other health issues settled down and then ripped my knee riding my mountain bike that my husband customized for my comfort. Anyhow, after about a month of it not getting better on it's own, I went to the doc, bought some knee braces and went to physio twice a week and did the homework exercises the physio gave me. It worked, I was able to get around Vegas just fine! My knee went out on me when I went downstairs to start laundry the day we got home. But, who cares?

If I had ripped up my knee right before Vegas, no time for physio and whatnot, I would have rented a scooter or power chair in Vegas.

I agree with Chuck about the cane. A cane will be OK for hobbling around your day to day life, but, it's not good enough for Vegas.

Also, you can drink on Aleve or advil but not any narcotic pain meds. Switch to Aleve if you haven't already. (I'm allergic to narcotics so I've been using Aleve when needed.) And be prepared to keep your leg elevated, braced and iced down a few times a day. Any abuse you dish out at our leg will prolong your healing and cause other problems. Have a good time but be good to your leg.

    Good luck man.

Several years ago, I was in motorcycle accident the night before a Vegas trip. Had to go to the emergency room to get a foot stitched up.
I debated whether to go or not. Decided to take the plunge and things worked out okay.
However, if I would have had the Allegiant insurance like you have, I would have changed the date.

Look at this way, its practice for when you are over 60 and going to vegas with the geriatric bunch. Just make sure you are carefull in the shower next time while cleaning the pipes!:evillaugh

If you need any assistance, I know some working girls who will dress up in a nurse outfit. They won't offer you much medical assistance, but they sure can make you forget about your knee pain!:wink2:

Well, I am with the cane and scooter crowd. You are going to Vegas, not a wilderness canoe trip, so you should have good access to medical advice and emergency care if the worst happens - and a dedicated posse to look after your every whim (use the sympathy angle).

    Other reasons?

    • Chicks love the wounded warrior.
    • Coctail service can be improved by moaning and rubbing your leg
    • Scooter better than a MILF Plat card for cutting lines
    • You can rate a chair at a craps table without looking like a wuss
    • Golf may be out but you can control the beer chest and play chief commentator
    • I have met up with BeeJay in Vegas but not the rest of his crew and would hate to miss meeting you next week

Looking on the optimistic side, the leg may provide the basis for a Trip Report for the ages - think about all the hijinks that just couldn't otherwise be (legally) possible...

    Just my two cents....

    Mack,

Scooter all the way! You guys don't get together that often with the full crew, so no way you can miss the trip. Had a friend rent / pirate a scooter last year, and some of the resulting stories were hilarious!

As a recipient/victim of several knee injuries, only you can measure your level of pain, that said, if you think you can do it, do it...I'd scooter it, though I might use crutches instead of a cane, because the cane can be more tiresome on your back and really isn't great for an existing injury. You want to reduce or eliminate weight on it, cane really doesn't do that.
I too recommend you contact the airline in advance to get medical/handicap service, which can include a golf cart ride to gate and priority boarding, though if you priority board, people will expect you to be last off upon arrival.
Also, careful with the dope and booze...and beer is booze....keep off that combo, one or the other, but not both.

I hear a Rascal scooter is a real chick magnet, so go for it!

But I agree with engicedave - Don't mix booze and pain meds. That stuff kills.

If it's just your MCL, brace and scooter it!

If your ACL is torn too...they will probably want to do surgery, but in a few weeks, so brace and scooter it!

Don't mix booze and pain meds is right up there with only gamble an amount you can afford to lose. :wink2:

but i agree, Macker drinks to excess, and any medication could put us in another Anna Nicole Smith type situation, except of course it would be Macker, who is far more famous.
