May I say "check please" for a 2k handpay at Wynncore or Caesars?

Thinking through a plan to bring more of my winnings back from my April trip. I know if you get a check from the casino in lieu of cash that the casino will make it easy for you to "cash" that check at the cage later if you want funds but I do think I'm more likely to take more winnings home if I get some jackpots in the form of a check rather than cash.

I don't want to ask for a check for a $1200 jackpot but I am thinking for machine jackpot winnings of $2k or more I will. But, for casinos like Wynn, Encore or Caesars Palace I am not sure if the casino would even give me the option of asking for a check rather than cash. In other words, would they offer me a check option if the jackpot were say $5k or more.

I have to say for most Vegas trips (typically 7 to 9 days) it is not unusual for me to get a few W2Gs, typically from VP, but the challenge is keeping more of those winnings than I usually do. I was thinking about adding to my trip bankroll tickets that I cash out from a machine but asking for checks for hits of more than $2k. Curious as to the experiences and thoughts of others. Thanks.

I don't know where the line is, or whether it varies by the person on duty or the time/day of the week, but:

Caesars was willing to give me a TITO (but not a check) for $1,600.

MGM Grand was willing to give me a TITO (but not a check) for $1,860.

Cosmo was willing to give me a check for a $3,600 hit but not a $1,600 one (they were willing to give me a TITO).

Aria gave me a check for $12,000.

    Just ask.

What did they say the reason was for not honoring your request for a check for those payouts under 2k?

No reason really given, just "Not for that amount." I mean, the reason is pretty obvious, they don't want the overhead and they'd rather you had playable money.

Caesars Palace gave me a check for an 8K jackpot.

Since you play with cash, I am guessing the could always say we will pay you the same way - cash. Luckily they don't.

I take a bank deposit slip with me on all casino trips. If a branch of my bank is nearby I just drop by and put the funds in the bank.

Thanks for the replies. Flyguyfl, you are more disciplined than I am though I like the idea of having a deposit slip with you. I know CP will cut a check for a few thousand as I've had that pleasure before. Was curious I guess if the smaller amounts though greater than a w2g for which folks have gotten checks. I guess either way I'll plan to say "check please" when I've got a jackpot of $2k or more.
