    My Trip Report

This was my 8th trip since 2005.......... I was hoping to go with my husband to Celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary (on May 29th) however he's not much of a flyer and declined politely lol I had taken him back in Nov 2009 and he loved Vegas n enjoyed himself but just didn't want to contemplate another flight! even though its only about 2.5 hrs ........so I ended up going with my gal pal , I'll call her S ...... She and I (and another lady ) went to Vegas back in 2005 and its ignited a real love of the city for me ........ so I've been trying to get back once every 12-18 months if I can .......

We left on Sunday May 13- Mother's Day....... my gift to myself :evillaugh
Departed from Calgary via Air Canada at 720pm-----we had gotten to the airport about 515pm , parked at the Park n Jet for the week and shuttled off to the airport..... breezed thru Customs and security ........had time to get a bite to eat at Burger King before getting on the plane .......flight was smooth, we were on a smaller plane with 2 seats on each side, I often now opt for the aisle seat as its easier to get up n stretch a bit.... watched an inflight movie ....... Disney's Lady and the Tramp , hey it was good lol and listened to some music stations ....... plane arrived in Vegas about 9pm local time, to terminal #2.......nice small terminal , zipped out to have a smoke and then got our luggage........ instead of a cab , we opted to do the shuttle thingy ..... cost $7.00 and took about a half hour to get to Harrah's .......our home for the next 3 nights, all comp'd ........check in was a breeze , no wait at all :) got the keys and it was off to the room .... I had requested Mardi Gras tower (as it opens right up to Casino floor ) and was pleasantly surprised to get Room 1416 in the MG tower steps away from the elevator ! ..... this was classed as a deluxe room ....... had two queen beds, a built in armoire with TV, and bar fridge......drawers .... the bathroom was spacious and included a coffee pot!! whooohooooo altho we never did use it lol ......... the bonus was we had a balcony!! yes a balcony , with a lovely view .....of the Mirage, the top of Casino Royale and TI ....see the pics attatched, after unpackin a bit n freshing up , down to the casino , which was NOT playing nicely lol but got the first drink whilst playing the slots .......played Hangover , went up a bit on that , Miss Kitty , Goldfish .... back to the room by 130am .......

Woke up around 830 , fully rested .........discovered , altho we had a coffee pot , we had no coffee lol .......so showered n dressed we got , and off to the Casino around 930........ had a very refreshing Coffee with Bailey's in it ....decided to head north to the strip, to work our way to the Fashion Show Mall........ stopped in at Casino Royale , had a cinnabon n coffee , and played a few slots, with no luck ........
checked out the Tix4Tonight booth ..... bought tickets for Hitzville, the Motown revue show at V theatre at Planet Hollywood.... along with a dinner voucher for Planet Dailies , for 50% entree ........ discounted coupon for Flavours Buffett at Harrah's and ticket for the Vegas Mob Experience at Tropicana - all of which said , valid for 7 days after purchase--- (moreon this later!!) Paid $61.99 in total

Wandered to Wynn and played a few slots n had a drink , not playing well at all!! le sigh :grrr:
Crossed the street n hit the fashion show mall .......S was looking for a pay as you go type phone as the Canadian cell provider's roaming fee's are horrid , no luck there.......... wandered thru the mall a bit but didn't find any good bargains........back out to the Strip to TI ......hadn't been in there in years , Casino was fun but didn't win anything big ....... headed back to the Hotel to freshen up and head south to Planet Hollywood......time to get ready for Hitzville which starts at 530pm .......we ate first at the Planet Dailies Cafe ......using our 50% discount coupons on the main entree...... S got a strip loin , with salad and choice of side (baked potato) and I got the ribeye, with salad and asparagus side.......we shared sides :) was very delicious ! total bill was about 25.00 each with tip ........
Off to the V theatre to see Hitzville ...... http://www.hitzvilletheshow.com/
was a great show.......we were seated about 4 rows back to the right of the stage , and after one song, the usher came up and asked if we'd like to sit closer to stage , we said sure :) and were whisked to right at stage side!! ....I got crooned to by *Marvin Gaye* whoooohooo lol
Highlight was when Jin Jin Reeves , was portraying Mary Wells ....got a gentleman from Palm Springs, named Frank , up on the stage and sang My Guy to him ......he so hammed it up ,. his wife was sitting behind us but had no camera , so we both snapped up some pics ...which we emailed to her :) Proof to the friends he got up on stage
Show was about 75 mins long , and was excellent if you enjoy Motown, they covered several songs /artists - Temptations, Four Tops , Diana Ross, Mary Wells , Martha Vandella , Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye ...... after the show there was a meet n greet and the opportunity to buy the CD or DVD

Wandered back to the hotel, via Paris , Bally's, Bill's ( played a slot called Thundering Buffalo and won $150.00) , then thru to Flamingo , checked out the Margaritaville Casino , the IP .......lots of construction in front, since O'sheas is now gone.......created a walk way , that does jut out onthe to strip (blocked one lane of traffic in that area) ..was a bit crowded but did manage to weave our way thru............back to the room by about 130am

    Tuesday May 15

Up and out of the room by about 930.......down to the casino for Baileys Coffee again , always a good way to start the day lol , grabbed a quick bite at Starbucks, muffin n banana, to hold us over until we hit the Flavours Buffet for lunch ...... was $13.99 with discounted coupon , used my TR comps to pay for it :) ...... Food was good , had a variety of dishes to try .......

Decided to take a rest from the slots and head down to the south Premium Outlet Mall.......S was still on her quest for a phone , and I wanted to check out a few shops....... took the SDX and was a quick trip ......

I checked out the Van Huesen store , got five shirts for my hubby and a purse for myself for a grand total of $112.00......and did another first.....got to use a seniors discount!! :confused2: as I'm over 50 and it was an extra 10% off for those over 50.......
S ended up getting a camera her nephew back home was looking for at a good $200.00 less than what he can get it here........but no luck in finding that phone lol

Back to the hotel to drop off parcels, but got off at the Paris stop n played a game or two and to have drink .....shopping makes ya thirsty lol
hopped the Duece as it was so hot to walk ......temps all week had been hovering in the mid 90's!! Dropped off parcels and headed to Casino
played a slot called China Shores , ended up with over 130 free spins and hit big ...... over $300.00 , also did well again on Thundering Buffalo's ........
Ate supper at the Cafe at Harrahs , they have Italian nights most week nights... I had the veal marsala, S had the Chicken Alfredo ........ added the $4.99 to include glass of red wine and a dessert ...spumoni Ice cream for me and Tiramuso for S ..total billl came to about $54.00 with tax n tip :) .
Wandered over to the CP to inquire about Elton John Tickets, for May 17.....but alas was sold out except for VIP seats, his May 18 show was cancelled so the May 17 and 19th shows sold right out! grrrrrrrrr (in Hindsight should have splurged on that price but would have expected to be sitting on the Piano, whilst he played lol ) .......... wandered around the Casino a bit ......played a few slots here n there
back to Hotel at about midnight n back to room just after 1am....... last night at Harrah's .......

Slept til about 9am- showered n packed up and headed to Checkout.... no line ....... put the remaining comps to the room charges ...... Dropped luggage at the baggage hold desk ......Grabbed a bite at STarbucks to hold us over , and took a Shuttle to Rio ......I had never been to Rio , in all my trips to Vegas ....... played a bit of slots, then ate at the All American Bar n Grill Cafe ...... I had the BlueCheese Burger with salad , S had the chicken quesedilla ...... we parted ways as she went to the A T & T store to get her phone finally via cab, was on Flamingo and Decateur .... whilst I played slots ......I discovered the Ghostbusters machine .......Oh my gosh, its now my favorite machine ever lol love the game , the bonus rounds and the payout !
Met back up with S, she found her phone ....... and was pleased , mission accomplished !
Shuttle back to Harrahs, grabbed our bags, n cabbed over to the Bellagio for the last two nights :)
Checkin counter was BUSY ...... realized after the fact there is an invited guest counter , duh! as I had two nights comp'd ....
Got room 6-621 in the spa tower , view was blah ,all the strip side views were sold out , but didn't matter, room was very nice n spacious ......

Stopped by the Chocolate Fountains , and also saw a Lady made of Chocolate... checked out the Conservatory - The Summer Theme was being set up ... a lighthouse, sailboat, carosel, lots of flowers, a gazebo , then over to the Casino for a lil action ......and a drink lol Found the penquins and they were ok!!

Decided it was time for dinner and tried Jasmine , at Bellagio ...had a nice view of the fountains, from the *backside* very different view

I ordered the Neptunes Cloud ....... prawns , scallops n crab on a bed of noodles, with a Pina Colada, S ordered the Pork Chow mein and a chocolate martini- I had a sip oh it was yummy! total bill came to about 120.00 with tip ......

Headed over to Cosmo via the people mover to the Strip ..some pics attatched below ... Cosmo was fun , found the Ghostbusters again and played it for over an hour , over $200.00, found another slot I've never played called Jazzi , and hit a great bonus round, for a cashout of $420.00 , and found a new game called Candy Bars and it was also productive n fun! Played the Alice in Wonderland slot , love the Respins! actually walked thru the chandielier bar this time :) wasn't hungry to try the Pizza place, tho but did mention it to S, not such a *secret* anymore now I hear
Headed back to the hotel n to the room about 2am

    May 17/2012

Last full day in Vegas! awwwwwwwwwwwwwwww
Woke up about 930 lol ..... very windy outside , was hoping to hit the pool for a bit this morning but way too windy , just from looking outside the window ........ out the door by 1045 played some slots and got a Baileys coffee, took the tram to Monte Carlo ..... very very windy , glad I didn't do the pool thing! meandered about MonteCarlo for a bit ...... playing different slots .....didn't hit on Happy Days, like I did last yr! Ate some lunch at subway .......at the food court ..... headed out to the Strip toward Tropicana.......crossed over at Diablo's , n headed toward MGM, where they had sidewalk construction happening .....tried to follow the detour route thru the Casino , to Tropicana Avenue to use the overpass ...ended up at lobby and hoofed it over from there, crossed at a light and entered the Tropicana from the East entrance ......nice red 1957 Chev Bel-Aire outside the door!

Found the Ghostbusters slot right away and had to try it , not as much luck , tried Monopoly and did hit for about $70.00 ....Headed toward the Vegas Mob Attraction ...... http://www.troplv.com/entertainment/mob-attraction-las-vegas , using our Tix4less coupon ......well , they almost didn't let us in even tho we bought it 3 days earlier and said good for 7 days! tried to explain they are a broker and had nothing to do with them!!
was supposed to pay $18.00 each to get in (from regular $25.00 price) , manager came over as another lady had same issue ......she let us in for free lol
I thouroghly enjoyed the Attraction .....very interactive and entertaining! with lots of history of the Mob and their ties to Vegas .... lots of narration by James Caan and Frank Vincent and live character actors , who take you to Big Tony! at the cafe! and you find out if you are *made* or *whacked*
We got Whacked was very surreal ........ and almost scary lol but I was laughing to hard n sulking I am such a bad mobster le sigh lol  I wanted to be a true *Goodfella* Lots of exhibits with several authentic artifacts from various *mobsters* , like china, dishes, furniture, car owned by Lucky Luciano , nice video on the history/making of The Godfather, we probably spent about 2 hrs in there! at the end offered pictures that were taken as we entered but we declined All in All very good , I loved it

back into the Casino and we were hungry and ate at the food court, got a burger n onion rings .....and a soda for about $15.00......the rings are a HUGE serving enough for 2 or 3 to share! Headed back to strip .... and over to NY NY , we skipped Excalibur, Luxor and MBay .... played a bit , no luck there lol not even on Lil Lucy or Mr Cashman ...... and back thru Monte Carlo.... strolled by the PUB , where karoke was going on and joined in on the festivities, didn't sing tho but met some fellow Albertans who did ........left there about 1230 and back to the Tram ...... still windy out
back to the room by 1am...... last night at the Bellagio, the beds are so comfy, one thing we noticed is we didnt' have turn down service or a chocolate , at bedtime, like last yr ........

Slept very good , was hard to haul ourselves outta bed ...but alas time to pack up and check out .....always a bit of a mellow sad moment

Checked out , used all my comp's toward room charges including the food at Jasmine :) so my final bill wasn't too bad .......used the business centre to print boarding passes .... no resort fees added either as rooms were comp'd :)

Left luggage at the baggage folks, and just hung about the Casino .... played the penquins .......and Ghostbusters lol cashed out a bit ahead , ate a quick burger at Snacks , just off the casino floor ...... then headed to get our luggage around 1pm flight leaves at 3 from Terminal two ......cabbed it over and found out flight was delayed grrrrrrrr :grrr:

now we had a good two hour wait! had a final ciggy and went thru security , I missed the xray , just the regular metal detector thingy .... funny thing was , there was a very elderly lady in a wheelchair , who had to take off her shoes, n sweater and go thru the scanner but they moved me thru the other walk thru .....grabbed our stuff from the buckets n headed to gate... picked up some nibblies for the plane and there it came in ....left about 330 local time (430 my time) and landed at 7pm .......what a temp difference! was rainy and windy brrrrrrrr ....apparently Calgary got wet snow the day b4!! yes in the middle of May egads ......discovered our luggage was crushed and put in a complaint to Air Canada ......got a voucher for repair ..... course both places on the opposite sides of the city lol .....got shuttle back to Park n Jet , total cost for 6 days was 46.00 , and off to home we went , dropped S off at a meeting point , where her sister gathered her up with her luggage...... once again , her and I had a fantabulous Vegas Vacation ...... and hope we can do it again soon
Altho in October I'm hoping to go to NYC , never been .....have a niece who will be performing on Broadway , as part of her theatre group at school! so I may be posting some stuff in Non Vegas Chat about tips on NYC :)

    Random thoughts--
~gas prices are about the same as here in Calgary , just a smidge cheaper
$4.26 per gallon here and in Vegas was varied but saw prices from $4.01 to $4.19 per gallon ! saw a couple stations just under the $4 mark tho
~saw lots of *characters* , 3 Elvis's or is it Elvii? , the Avengers, Hello Kitty (took a pic of a fella with her, for his 4 yr old daughter )
~ Lions in MGM are now gone too , they are constructing something new, its all blocked off, and poor signage of the *detour*
~ never made it to the Mirage to the Tigers n Dolphins
~ I came home with $27.00 US left with $1500 and blew thru it all and the winnings ..........should have splurged on that Elton Ticket lol
~played ONE video poker game and got so lost I cashed out lol I need Gaggles, BeeJay or Macker or Sonya to teach me

All in all it was a fun, relaxing 6 days, 5 nights there and can't wait to get back :)

Nice reporting, Diva. Sounds like you had a great time!

A lady made of chocolate is pretty much my ultimate fantasy.

If anyone is looking for a cheap pay as you go phone option, pick up a TracFone in Walgreens for $20. Another $15 or $20 will give you all the minutes you need for the trip. Much cheaper usually than Rogers or Bell's roamin' fees.

Royal Flusher, we checked out Walgreens (by the Venetian/Palazzo) but they were sold out !! I had printed out the comments from others regarding this question of pay as you go phones..... S was happy with what she got , her sister is going to use it on a Cruise to Alaska , later this summer :)
by the time we got to the south end of strip on the Thursday , she'd already gotten her phone at the AT&T store , so never checked that out

Tis Ok , he's not a flyer, perhaps one day we will drive down, its not that far really from here .... two full days of driving :) I'd love to do a road trip for about 3 weeks, thru the Western states.......did that back in 1973 with my parents/sisters as a family trip to see Disneyland/Knott's Berry Farm etc , with an overnight stop in Vegas , however took my 32 yrs to get back to Vegas lol , haven't been back to Disneyland either or Calif since!

Such a fun read, I too felt like I was there with you. That Bellagio lobby is so crowded all the time it makes the invited guest desk hard to see. Glad you had such a great time!
