I was curious if any VMB players have thought about modifying in 2015 where they play to maximize comps and their overall Vegas experience. I am pretty loyal to CET and became Seven Stars for the first time this year, with TCs currently in the mid-300ks. With a long trip to Vegas at the end of the year I'll likely hit 400k TCs. My host I also like, but here's the thing: With the changes to the experience credits and my limited ability to take advantage of the various Seven Stars trips, I'm thinking about earning my Seven Stars status again but playing more elsewhere, at, say Bellagio or Wynn/Encore, after earning Seven Star status. I may not earn a higher status in those other properties but do believe my play would be sufficient to get comped stays and enjoying Wynn/Encore after a nice stay at Caesars (for a total of 9 nights my usual trip length), would be great.

If my question were solely about free play and other non-room comps I'd stay 2 nights at El Co in the middle of two CET offers and use my 5x points coupon one day or play at Orleans or Gold Coast or Cosmo (I no longer get FSP but I am still getting two comped rooms). That's important but nice rooms and a property with excellent service are even more important to me for my trips to Vegas (typically 2 8-to 9-day trips a year).

Anyone thinking of making changes in 2015?

I'm also 7 stars, which has quite a few benefits. However, as long as you maintain the 150,000 points each year, it doesn't make much sense to go beyond that. So I'd agree that playing a little at the other casinos is probably a good idea.

Fyi - You should try to take advantage of the different 7 stars perks such as the annual trip, the signature event and the NCL cruise since you earned them.

I'll probably be upping my average bet and time spent playing compared to the past. In 2014 I increased my play some and was comfortable with that new level. So I'm going to ease into a slightly higher avg bet as income and life have cooperated. I will be concentrating my play at Cosmo with maybe 1 night per trip downtown. The gf doesn't care for DT so they won't see too much play. My gold status at Cosmo expires in December. I'm easily sterling but I keep running numbers to see if it's even feasible for me to hit gold again. The way points roll off in a rolling 365 day window is throwing me off as progression to your next tier is based on rolling 365 days.

Thanks for the replies. Meyers67, I am taking advantage of the annual trip. In fact I'm combining my annual trip THIS year with my year-end trip and I'm using the diamond aspirations airfare for a quick round trip in December for GGWU. I'm literally there 1 day but I have enough points to make it worth it plus I can redeem a monthly FSP that I can't redeem at the end of the December. Moreover, as it is hard for me to take vacations in any year before Easter, I would have likely wasted my annual trip and diamond aspirations trip for 2014. I get another of each for 2015 and I'll use them both because that will cover my two trips to Vegas in 2015 (or one to Vegas and one to New Orleans). But, I missed out on the signature event for 2014 because literally everything was sold out by the time I became seven stars (except the October Vegas event, which I couldn't and didn't want to do). I also can't do a cruise before 3/31/15 but I will plan to do a signature event and cruise at some point in 2015, post April 1st.

My plan will be to make Seven Stars and then (or as I am making Seven Stars) give MGM props some play. I like Cosmo and Wynn/Encore even better but I like that the MGM is part of a national network.

    Hey

My last trip was 9th-16th November 2014. Earned Sterling. I'm going next week on the 9th. Will I be losing points towards good as every day goes by? That would suck lol

Will probably convert my existing points to FP on the day I get there before expiry and add it to this trips FP.

    Totally agree with this.

Once you get to 150k TCs, you're not really getting anything additional from CET. The play represented by the additional 250k TCs could be easily spread between both MGM props and Wynncore to your benefit. It would give you more options for any given trip.

This is assuming you're racking up those TCs in Vegas and not CET regional casinos.

I play 1/10th of your level and I can get comped rooms at all MGM and Caesars properties for 10 of my 13 night trips twice a year, so I think you're limiting yourself. Of course, if you really love Caesars and don't like to move in the middle of a trip, there's nothing wrong with that either.

Thanks Chuck2009x. I'm on the East Coast so my play is split between Vegas and AC (short weekend trips). I love NOT moving (like for my 9-day year end trip) but for good offers I'd move in a heartbeat. Years ago I was a serious low roller (and still manage my comps and promos well, I believe!) and moved twice, sometimes, three times, to take advantage of promos. In recent years I've had a job that pays much more (and gives me a bit more vacation flexibility) so my bankroll is bigger. Getting a fair number of charges comped off at the end, if I can stay at Caesars the entire time, is nice. But if I had a nice comp at Bellagio or Aria or Wynn/Encore for a few days I wouldn't hesitate to spend the first half of my trip at Caesars and the second half at one of those places. If the trip were long enough I would double book another CET offer on the back end. I'm looking at my CET offers right now for late December and early January and I'm missing out on additional FSP, Southwest Card and a nice TV offer because I'm staying at Caesars continuously and because of the rule regarding not booking offers within 48 hours of each other. I really appreciate my host booking Caesars for my entire 9-day stay during a busy time of the year but the flip side is that it is also costing me some offers to stay there continuously for my entire trip. It's my choice to do so but if I had a nice offer at another property I would probably split my trip.

One of the things you also may want to consider is visiting some of the regional harrah's properties (Rincon in San Diego, Ak-Chin in PHX) as they will often make some really good offers of free play, free food, rooms etc that Vegas & AC doesn't. At your level of play you should be able to get a ton of free play and VIP treatment.

The extra 250k TCs you will have accumulated at CET would be about 2.5 million TC's at mLife. If you play the same in 2015, and spread your play, you can easily get 7stars at CET, Platinum at mLife, and almost certainly one of the high tiers at Cosmo, Wynn, or both.

I had quite a few days of 5k TC play with the 10k bonus but your point is well taken and I know on the 5k days that means my theo was high. A plan for enjoying Vegas in 2015 and maximizing my comps to the fullest is developing!

I always stay at two different properties/chains on my trips now. The main reason is that I max out at 5 nights comped, but in the end, moving ends up being a trip reset - mentally, it really breaks a single trip into two trips. Plus, when you move, you don't have to really pack, you just throw all your shit in your luggage willy-nilly and pull it out an hour or two later. After 5 or 6 nights, I'm ready for a change of scenery.

    Re trip reset, so true.

Thanks everyone for the comments and advice. With my trip between Christmas and a couple of days into the new year I'll be playing at Caesars quite a bit but mostly on the first few days and then the last few (in the new year/earning clock reset). In the middle I'm going to give Wynn/Encore and Bellagio some play. Lots of folks are raving about Aria but I just love the fountains, conservatory, museum, restaurants, etc. at Bellagio so I will concentrate my MGM play in the middle of my trip there.

Your anniversary date will be the date you earned sterling. You have one year from that date to earn 5000 points to maintain the tier. The rolling 365 is to determine your next tier. You can email Identity to ask for a "identity tier calculator" report. It will break down your points and tell you what you need to maintain and to advance. I would think if you earned the same number if points that roll off on a given day your anniversary would reset.
