I will be staying at the rio from october 27 to november 1st. I am going to be playing mostly Jacks Or Better at the dollar denomination (5 dollars a hand). I was aiming for at least 3 hours of play a day and at the most five hours a day. How much should my bankroll be to allow this amount of play? I've also heard the rio's paytables aren't very good...so I was also wondering what places have the best paytables for jacks or better? I'm use to playing at the horseshoe of southern indiana and they have 9/6 JOB and i have heard that is mostly unheard of in Vegas :-(

    Any info/help is appreciated!

When I was at the Rio in March, they had 8/5 Bonus Poker (99.17%) at the $1 level. The strategy for Bonus Poker is nearly identical to Jacks or Better. This would be a much better offer than playing their lesser Jacks or Better pay tables.

Next door at the Gold Coast, they have plenty of 9/6 JoB from $.25 up. They have 50 play $.01-$.05 at the Palms which is within walking distance.

$4000 should be enough to play 20 hours at 800 hands per hour at the $1 level.

Others on here can help you with your bankroll question, but I will be staying at Rio in December and will be looking forward to walking 5 minutes down the road to Gold Coast for 9/6 JOB, 8/5 BP, and NSUD, all available for quarters and dollars. Plus, the full pay JOB and BP are available on the bar tops!

Do yourself a favor and walk next door to the Gold Coast to play JOB.

    This should help:

Size of your bankroll, well that depends how much you want to risk running dry. For dollars, I don't think I would play with less than 800 for a session (2 to 3 hours), at a bare minimum. And you still have a decent shot of going broke on that.

Agree that UNLESS YOU NEED THE CREDITS, you should play at GC or Palms.

I have lost $500 in an hour and a half of dollar JOB. Four grand sounds about right. There is a formula somewhere. Wizard of Odds might have a risk of ruin table on his site.
