Any VMBers seen the new version of Match Game (hosted by Alec Baldwin) yet?

I'm a big fan of the 70s version and I watch the two daily episodes on GSN. Plus I have a crush on celebrity panalist Brett Sommers...

The innuendo and rowdiness of the original was something new back in it's day.

I recorded an episode because I was curious and kind of excited to see how this version would be.
I watched about 11 minutes of it.
    I then deleted it.

My takeaway was, "you can't re-do a classic".

With so much "raunchy" on TV these days, the new Match Game seems far too tame. The original was "oh so naughty" for what was on TV back in the 70's. I also love the original and watch it on GSN occasionally and it's still funny. The new one, eh, not so much. I still watched it anyway. Methinks some of the contestants have never watched the original, or that they are just stoopid.....casting must have had a hard time finding people to so the show?

And Alec is a pompous asshole.

Anyone watching the new $100K Pyramid? Also not as good as the original, but I still like it. Seems like the categories in the $50K round are easier than they used to be? Maybe not.

    Cheers,
    Kelly

My brother and I was just discussing how we missed the gay innuendo as well as the lush drinking...

    The AV Club loves it.

Personally, I really like that they honored the format of the original, including the opening guest introduction and the music during the clues. I think Alex Baldwin is the wrong choice, as his smarmy looks steal the thunder of the guest stars and contestants. That and his "fed" jokes just don't fit.

Most of the cast is pretty good, although Leslie Jones went way, way overboard, and a stoned Leah Remini didn't help.

But with all that, my biggest problem is that the guests are straight out of Central Casting. So distracting.

I will continue to watch it, and hope that the producers settle the guest stars a bit.

As for the Pyramid, I really like that show, except (just the opposite) the stars are pretty useless and I feel bad for the contestants trying to win real money and being stuck with Martha Stewart, Anthony Anderson or Snoop Dogg.

Smarmy is what they're selling. Alec is ideal for the show. This game has always been totally lame, and therefore dependent on shenanigans from the stars. Lesile was perfect but I don't think she'll last.

Definitely not as good as the original from what I remember.
I don't recall it being as slow paced.
On another note, the celebrity Family Feud show has been extremely funny.
