Finally beginning to prepare for this upcoming March Madness. Last year was probably the best March Madness trip my group's had yet and looking to build on that success. Most of us were net winners on the trip thanks to day two.

Probably the best change we made this past March Madness was getting a Cabana per some advice on this forum. It was $1,250 F&B Minimum for a Cabana at Cosmopolitan/Boulevard Pool and was an awesome time. Compared to some of the "couch/mancave" deals it's actually pretty competitive.

We've gone to the Cosmopolitan viewing party the last couple years and plan on doing the same this year. They made some improvements this past year with staffing and it seemed like the betting/drink lines were flowing better. My host got several VIP tickets which was a waste unfortunately since we only made it out to the venue two of the days and most of our drinking was on day one. I continue to think you're better off just getting the GA ticket (with a couple drink tickets) and paying out of pocket for the remainder. Unless your sitting in a chair all day the VIP ticket is going to be tough to utilize. Hopefully Cosmopolitan will add some table games aside from Blackjack this year (craps would do well with that crowd).

Room rates rate now actually look more affordable then this past March Madness and hopefully that continues.

Anyone else planning to make the week 1 or 2 pilgrimage?

Sadly I won't be there. I will be in NYC at the time and I'm contemplating on going to the Friday matches at the Barclay's Centre in Brooklyn, but we'll see how much time we have.

Sounds like a great time to be in Vegas.

Ill be there for either for 5th or 6th time in a row. Will be staying at either Bally's or Planet Hollywood depending on where the CET "Hoops on the strip" parties are located/offered. 5 days comped (Weds to Mon) and probably do last 2 at Orleans. Hands down the best time of year to be in Vegas. Plus St Paddys day kicks off the fun Weds night!!!

FWIW there is a site on Facebook, that will have EVERYTHING MARCH MADNESS (https://www.facebook.com/groups/mmilv/) from now till March 16th. Trust me on this 1!!

Will be there for the first weekend! Can't wait for it.

Interested in joining a man cave or watch Party on Friday if anyone knows of anything concrete. Otherwise plan to be at the Plaza downtown and trying to find more about their party.

Hubby and I will be there March 15-21 for the first week/weekend of March Madness. This will be our 14th or 15th year of being in Las Vegas for opening week/weekend. It's the most wonderful time of the year for college basketball fans

I was there in 2014 for the 1st 2 rounds..probably my favorite time/month of the year in all my Vegas trips. Anyone been there for the second weekend of games?(Thursday-Sunday)? If so, how does it compare? That's when I'm going this coming March.(21-24)I'd wanted to go again for the opening rounds, but, I live near providence and they are hosting 1st/2nd round games. I promised my 7year old son that we would go to the Friday games and he's beyond excited(this whole being a great dad thing is really ruining my dreams of becoming a degenerate gambler someday!) I booked a better/upgraded room at Cp than the pevious week(waiting for March offers to drop next month to see if there's a difference in offers between the 2 weekends) I'd love a similar atmosphere, but a lesser crowd wouldn't be bad either. Thanks for any reviews!!

I'll be there 16th to 19th (Wed-Sat), going with a group that goes every year, but I haven't been for MM in about 10-15 years. This group is debating the PH man caves. Any thoughts from VMBers on the man caves? The cost seems high to me, but I'm on lower bankroll level of some of the group members. I'll still pay my share of course if the group goes that route, but unsure if it will be truly worth it?

Its what you would expect: smaller crowds and fewer games. The energy is very different because the first weekend, the action starts at 9am, as opposed to later afternoon. The hotels aren't nearly as crowded and I would describe the sportsbook crowd as equivalent to any NFL sunday.

I'll be there from March 15-21 with my crew. We're staying downtown this year after last few on the strip. We're looking forward to it!

I've generally heard good things about the PH man caves but I tend to think some of those offerings are a fair bit over priced, especially for larger groups. I already mentioned it but I think the cabana deals are vastly underrated. The food is probably better then inside and for bigger groups it may be more cost effective then the sports book. Granted the vibe isn't the same and that buzz the first couple days is incredible. But maybe do a GA ticket and just stand out good seats early at one of the parties.

Note to 1st timers. Get your airfare before your hotel and find the closet liquor store. For the past 4/5 years the hotel rates have been ridiculous until a week or 2 before March Madness. And then they always drop down! Always, just like the big fight weekend last May. Rates dropped 50/70% the week before Pacman/Mayweather!
Also it appears that a lot of folks need booze with their "packages". I highly suggest that if you must drink to watch/enjoy March Games then stock your room up at the local liquor store and then camp out at a sports book or the free watch parties at Gold Coast, the D or others. I stopped drinking booze in 1993 but I'm amazed at how stressful it is for some folks to find a watch party where they will get their $$$ worth in booze. IMHO. You won't find 1! Plain and simple! Save your $$ for the Craps tables!

I will be out there March 10-20. First weekend solo as I love going to games and betting the conference tourney games. Second weekend have a group of ten or so that come in. We have made the Plaza our home base for the last 5 years. We get a table, plenty of drink tickets, easy food and don't pay for much of anything. There are lots of ways to do MM in vegas and everyone has a preference.

Sadly and I'm not sure why I went last year and between me and one of the guys that went we had the VIP party tickets 2 each Thur-Sunday and didn't even go to any of them. I really should have sold them. I heard the parties are a really good time but not sure why we didn't go. Every time we went to go pick them up it was too late or something other issue.

Finally booked airfare. Prices came down $100 compared to last year and I figured they were just as likely to jump a $100 if I waited so locked it in. Finally got a schedule!

Still landing evening of Wed > Sun like last year, since most our crew is flying that evening flight and I'd rather wait two hours and drink together on the flight.

Now just hoping my new Cosmopolitan host can come through! My last two host was great but got the boot last summer and I'm honestly not sure whose on the acct now. Hope to get some early details on hoops / hops when I book. (Fingers crossed for craps table)

Just booked rooms at Cosmopolitan. Think my acct is floating in the nether but would rather meet & find a new host out there as opposed to luck if the draw beforehand.

Hoops Hops / Cabana pricing is still pending but if it's like last year it'll be available in next couple weeks.

Supposedly Lagasses is already booked up solid.

Booked the first weekend at Mandalay Bay. Not crazy about the venue, but can't wait for my first MM trip!

I am passing on SB weekend and going for March Madness this year. I didn't get to experience it last year but this year I'm not missing

Booked March 16-22. I arrive late on the 16th and out mid morning the 22nd.

I haven't booked flights yet but I know the ones I want. I'm in a Mexican standoff right now with United waiting for them to drop the fares a bit.

My first four nights are at Palazzo and the final two will be at an MGM prop (probably ARIA) because of a three night $400 FP offer

Solid Aria deal. My group stopped at Palazzo last year during the tournament and it was a fun time. Good crowd and low table minimums ($10/Craps).

Cosmopolitan just released 3-Day VIP Tickets for sale for Hoops & Hops as well as couches. The Couches are roughly $375/Person/Day (Of which $250 is F&B credit) which isn't unreasonable compared to other viewing parties, but with the 3-Day VIP pass including much of the same well drinks/beer for just $375/Three Days, it seems like a bit of overkill unless you really want a couch.

The prices look right inline with last year (which is nice) although the restrictions on drinks look like they may be tighter. I know last year our group had no problem getting shots poured, but apparently the pass doesn't include those:

Three day Open Bar pass includes unlimited cocktails* and premium, open seating.** *Unlimited cocktails include well liquors, beer, wine, soda and water. Shots not included.

Last year they started selling one day VIP and GA passes in Mid-February so I'd expect that to be the case again. Hopefully it's priced similar to last year in $150 range.

Yeah I need to start doing research on where I will watch the games.

    Lagasse's is already sold out.

I am hoping Palazzo will have something.

If there are any small groups or solo folks who want to go in on one of those reserved seats on the couches let me know.
