What are your travel dates? I booked the DCA-LAS direct on US Airways for March 16-21. RT fare was about the same as what I'd paid for my upcoming trip tomorrow.

Don't worry, prices will drop between now and a few months out. I've gone almost every year for the past 10+ years at that same time, and although prices will be higher than a normal vegas flight, they will come down.

Forgot to add, if you live in an area where you have an option to fly from different airports (Even if they are a little more inconvenient) make sure you are checking prices from the alternative airports as well. Last year for example they added another flight out of Milwaukee on a couple of the days (Going out on Friday, returning Monday) due to the high demand.

noticed the same thing. Looked from march 16-20 and prices are crazy. I usually fly out of indy but might have to choose south bend, chicago or detroit so I can get something under 500 and still good flight times and non stop.

I'm a southerner, not an east coaster, but I bought tickets on Southwest the first day their available. The prices dropped by about fifty bucks a month later and I rebooked. The key to saving some money is not leaving on Sunday. That's when the prices are astronomical. I stay until Monday to avoid that Sunday flight cost

Yep, I ran into the same thing for New Year's Eve weekend. Saved $300 by flying back on Monday.

I always buy my MM tickets the first day SW offers them. But I should add that this year was the most expensive I have ever seen the MM tickets. Makes sense. I have read that the number of visitors between Thursday and Sunday during the first weekend of MM now exceeds the visitors for NYE

Booked SW out of BWI last night 15 - 18 $275.

DCA - LAS for non stop was about $600. F that.
