    My Trip Report

To begin with I was planning to take my wife to Vegas for a nice weekend and see the Eagles.
Of course plans never seem to work out the way you want and you have to change them. My wife was unable to make the trip so I call my mother and asked her if she wanted to go.
I think she packed that night and we were still 10 days out.

Because I wanted to explore the Freemont street area I decided to add a couple days to the trip.

Wed. 3/20 : getting mom to vegas
I show up at to pick up my mom 9am Wednesday morning, she opens the garage door and says “how about we take my new car”. I laugh, what is a 73 year old woman doing with a new Camaro? I transfer my luggage to her car and we start our 336 mile trek to The D.

The drive was uneventful and we arrived in excellent time, (that car corners great at 95).
Check in at the D was very smooth and I decided to take a room on the top floor to help dissipate some of the noise from Freemont Street. I was pleasantly surprised with the room. The only complaint I had was they took a shortcut and painted the bathtubs and it was peeling off.

We unpacked and headed down to the casino level to check things out. We signed up for our new D Cards and made our first stop at the Long Bar. We slipped 20 in ordered a drink and started punching buttons. Wow the machines at the long bar are tight. I was having trouble even hitting a full house, plenty of 3OK teases though. We spent about 45 minutes at the long bar and decided to explore some more.

We worked our way down to the GN so I could show her the gold vending machine and the “big gold nugget”. We walked by the pool and enjoyed all the sights inside the nugget.
We stopped and watched Lady GoGo for a few minutes and then headed on down to the MSS for diner. Mom wanted a buffet, so I decided to get it out of the way first thing.
On our way to the MMS I witnessed a homeless guy assist a woman in a wheel chair across the street. I stopped and gave him $10.00 as you don’t see gestures like that very often anymore, plus it always helps appease the gambling gods. I have to say the MSS Buffet is one of the best around.

Now that I am in a FOOD coma it is time for a drink and to play some serious VP. We found open spots in the center of the Boar’s Head Bar. My machine warmed up quickly and started spitting out quads. I hit 2 in 8 spins (I love bonus deluxe).
    MSS1.jpg MSS2.jpg
Mom’s machine was cold, after 30 minutes she was ready to find a new place to try her luck. I cashed out and headed to the cage to cash in my $4.00 in scratchers.

We head out and tour through Binion’s and The Freemont and made our way back to the D to visit the vintage casino and the View Bar. We stop at the Wheel of fortune game, we both insert $20.00, I cash out $120 and Mom whiffs again, she is starting to call me names now.
We found a couple spots at the bar, insert $$ and more name calling ensues. My gift to the gods was helping with the quads but I just could not find the elusive AAAA. Mom just kept feeding the machine and was just on a bad run so far. About 10:30 we decided to call it a night.

Day 2: More Downtown and museums
We woke up around 7am, fiddled around for an hour and made it our way down for some coffee. We were not even close to wanting food as we were still recovering from the buffet last night. We had a couple cups of coffee and started our walk to the Pawn Stars shop.

We had a nice walk down to the shop and arrived around 9:30. Perfect timing, No line, we walked right in the door and there were less than 25 people inside. We spent about 30 minutes looking around and then there was an announcement that they would be clearing the store for filming. We took a couple more minutes and headed back downtown. On our walk back Mom decided we needed to stop at the BOA so she could get more cash. Next stop El Co so she can play Roulette.

We make our way over to the El Co and find a spot at the roulette table. Mom starts scattering chips around the table and I pull from my VMB research and Play 17, 20 plus neighbors. (20, 32, 7, 17, 5) thanks Nate and Beeejay.
$2.50 on each number 5 spins, I start calling people names (Nate and Beeejay). :grrr:
Spin # six, Nothing (I hate those F@#%ing guys). :grrr:
    Then wait for it,
    is there redemption,
YESSS next three rolls 32, 5, 17. Those guys are my heroes !!! :nworthy:
    roulette.jpg
I wait two more spins for the 20 to hit but no luck. Mom is broke again and I color up, leave a nice tip and hit the cage for my $250.00.

On the way out the door we decided to hit a couple VP machines and after 10 minutes I found 4 eights to add to my haul. We decide to head for the Mob Museum.
We spent over 3-1/2 hours in the mob museum. I really enjoyed the entire experience and would recommend it to anyone. Plus, an old gangster kind of hit on mom so she was flattered.

After the mob museum we worked our way back to The D. We had a late lunch at the café, and we went up to the room so mom could rest. I freshened up and headed down to the long bar to watch the Mizzu game.
Well neither Muzzu or the VP at the long bar paid off. But I had some laughs and a few drinks.
Mom joined me after her rest and we headed over to the 4 Queens for some VP redemption.
We find a couple machines at the four queens and I proceed to hit quads, run it down and hit again run it down repeat.
    4 queens 1.jpg 4 queens 3.jpg
Mom finally got on a roll and hit a couple quads to keep her going.
    Mom Hit.jpg Mom Hit 2.jpg
We recirculated money for a few hours and hit the room at about midnight.

Still to come - Strat, Reo, Luxor check in - Meeting up with the virgins - Steel Panther and bottle service.

Strat, Reo, Luxor check in - Meeting up with the virgins - Steel Panther and bottle

Friday morning I awoke around 9am. Wow I slept in and it felt good.
I looked over and Mom was still sawing logs. After a few minutes of me trying to be quiet, (crash, bang, ouch, who left that chair in my way,) mom was up to.
We packed up our things, headed back down to the D Grill for some breakfast. I was very satisfied with both of the meals we had at the D Grill. The food was excellent and the service was great. During breakfast we discussed many of the things mom had done in the past in Vegas and what she had always wanted to do. I devised a plan for the day and we went back to our room, grabbed our stuff and checked out.

One thing Mom had never done was go to the top of the Stratosphere . We pulled out of the D, made a right on LVB and made our way to the Strat. I pointed out the Pawn shop to Mom as we drove by and commented on how lucky we were as the line was down the block.
Made a right into the Strat and headed in. We started walking through the casino and stopped for a restroom break. While Waiting for Mom I was lucky enough to find a bank of slant top VP machines and slid in a 20. After a few minutes Mom was standing behind me wanting to know where all my luck was coming from. I cashed out $30.00 and we headed to the tower.

Wow that elevator really moves, we made it to the top in no time.
Now in my younger years I worked on grain elevators and water towers and have never had a problem with heights. We walked up to the glass and I got that sinking feeling in the bottom of my stomach and decided I would stay back a few steps. I had to keep reminding Mom that the sign says “don’t lean on the glass”. She loved watching the people do the sky jump. She even considered doing it herself. I would have been a screaming little baby standing on the edge of that platform. We spent about an hour up there and then headed for our next destination.

Mom is a big Star Trek fan and I decided to head over to the Rio to check the place out. I have already decided we will attend the convention in August. We walked through and decided it’s a nice place and we would stay there if the price is right. We had a few hours to kill so we went to get Mom a players card and found a bank of slant tops. I slid in a hundo and set it at $.50 and started hitting 3Oks flushes and boats to keep the stack building. Then low and behold after about 15 minutes hit kings.
    out the door.jpg

Mom started to get excited as she was hitting enough to keep her going, and she thought I should cash out. So I look her in the eye and said let’s see how long this will last.
I took a napkin and placed it over the total credits area and ordered a drink from the CW. The only way I was going to look at the total is if I hit Aces or a royal. Two hours later I pulled the napkin and cashed out $125.25 with 750 points accrued. I looked at Mom and said I hope that gets us at least a discounted room.
Sorry, but I got lazy and stopped taking photos as I just went into the zone while I was playing.

    Next stop Luxor.

Yep, I got lost trying to take a short cut from the Reo over to the Luxor. So the 3 mile drive took us about 8 miles and 25 minutes. Finally pulled into valet and headed into the Luxor.
Mom was leading the way and walked up to this huge check in line. Using my new gained knowledge from researching the VMB I signaled her over to a bench. I then walked over to the M-life check in line which had 1 person in it. Pulled a 20 out and laid it on the counter and asked the young man if he could get me into a queen sweet. After a few minutes of typing he said he could but the room wouldn’t be ready for us until after 5pm. I decided against that and took a nice tower room. We settled in and I checked messages.

So going back a few days, I contacted my Aunt to let her know I was taking Mom to Vegas and she should meet us there. Aunt L was unable to meet us as she was watching her grandchildren as her daughter and husband we going to be at MB for the weekend.

    Back to present.

I texted cousin A and let her know we had a few things to do and we would be over at MB in an hour or so. We went down to M-life, signed mom up, I had my FP loaded and we were off. We found a couple slant tops with acceptable pay tables and I turned my $25.00 FP into $75.00 cashed out and headed over to MB.

I texted A “we are at bar at MB”,
    she texted back “what bar?”.
Of course I decide to have a little fun now. “I’m at Alan’s bar”, (bartender), She texts back “is there more than one bar here?”

Ding. My little light went off
I had assumed she had been to Vegas before. I texted her I was at the island bar across from the sports book and the corvette. After a few minutes A and her hubby B show up and I buy them a drink. Find out it is their first visit to Vegas, and my devious mind goes to work. I ask A how much she is planning to spend gambling. Wow, $40.00 a day?

How much for the cab ride? yep, the were long hauled $35.00

Let’s go for a walk I have a slot machine I want to play.

I lead them through MB, over to the Luxor, onto the moving side walk to the EX, over the bridge to NYNY, stop for some more drinks, and finally we make it to the MGM. The game I want to play is just inside. We walk and walk and finally arrive at our destination.

I look at A and say if you only brought 40 bucks you are in for a lot of standing around.

I pull out a crisp hundred dollar bill and slide it into the Lion’s Share. After a few minutes a CW comes by and we order more drinks, thankfully A and B had some coin in a couple machines and were able to get their drinks also.
Mom had already scolded me for leading them on and to at least make sure they would get comp drinks.

I rolled the Lions share up to $125.00, but it wouldn’t go any further. Bounced around between 60 and 90 for about 30 minutes and decided it was done with me.
Hopefully next visit I will get to take the machine home with me.
    lions share.jpg

Walking back to the MB (yes, I know there is a tram from the Ex, but no one else does)

I stop to feed them at the Excalibur Steak House.
We had an excellent meal with a couple bottles of wine, and had our dessert at the bar so we could watch the end of the KU game.
I have never had a bad meal at the steak house and it is never crowded.

We made our way to the Luxor had a couple more drinks at the Centra bar and put mom to bed around 10:00.

A & B wanted to see a show at the House of Blues and had purchased tickets for us to attend. Some band called Steel Panther; I was assured I would like them.
We made our way in with our general admission tickets, I stood on the floor with no seating and shake my head. This wond work.
I head to the back and we find a CW and grab one of the last tables.
A is a little upset when I said sit the F down and drink the $200.00 bottle of vodka.
The show was great and I will see them again.

The vodka was a little too good especially with all the drinks and wine before. After the concert, things start to get a little fuzzy.
    A little fuzzy?
Hell, I remember going to the bar after the concert asking for something fruity.

Next up What the hell happened last night and the Eagles

What the hell happened last night and the Eagles

    Saturday morning 9:30am,
Mom greets me with morning sunshine.
I ask what time I made it back. She said around 3:30. Great, 3 hours of lost time.
I grab a shower and do the pocket check.

OK, I have 3 titos totaling $274.50 and 4 extra $100.00 bills. :wiggle:

Looked at mom and said I must have gambled last night to. She laughed and said I was even lucky when I didn’t know what I was doing.

We headed down to the Starbucks, grabbed a couple Caramel Macchiatos and a muffin for my hung over ass. I slid on my sunglasses and called A.

Get your asses up and meet us at the bar.

Mom and I walked over to the MB and I ordered a Bloody Mary to get me going again. After a few minutes A & B showed up looking worse than I felt. I took them over and got them a bottle of water each and decided to walk down and see the fountains at Bellagio.
We made our way through the casinos again walked through NYNY and hit the strip. I walked them all the way down to the Bellagio, stopping at another Starbucks when my Mary went dry.
After we made it to the fountains I let them know the show should start around noon and I was off to play some poker. (big lie)

I was hurting bad and just needed to lie down.

Mom and I worked our way back to the Lux, I set her up at a nice slant top and went for a nap.
Mom shows up in the room about 3 hours later and I get around feeling much better. We head back down so I can get some VP time in and wait for A to text back with dinner plans. VP was non eventful and I gave them back 3 of the 4 hundies I found in my pocket.

We met up about 5:30 for dinner at the NYNY (still haven’t told them about the tram). :noangel:

Had some nice Mexican food. A explains that they just can’t keep up with a party animal like me and didn’t even stay for the fountain show they cabbed it back to the hotel and slept all afternoon.
I fessed up and let them know I did the same thing. I told them about all the winnings I found and asked where we had gambled. They both looked at me and said they were hoping I knew what had happened after the concert.
I laughed and said welcome to Vegas, 75% of the people around us don’t know what happened last night either.

We finish dinner and part ways as Mom and I were off to the Eagles concert.

Wow, I think everyone in Vegas was trying to get in the doors at the same time. It was well worth the wait,
I have been listening to these guys forever. The show was great, both Mom and I enjoyed the show and sang along with the rest of the crowd. JW still has it, I would have loved to party with that guy.

After the show Mom and I made our way back to the Lux. She was tired and ready for bed and I decided to hit the rack also.
We awoke around 9, packed up, I stopped at the M-Life desk to have the resort fee removed from my bill and checked out for $0.00

Had another great time and will be back in August.

Sorry for the lack of pictures, I looked on my phone for any evidence of Friday night and luckily I hadn’t taken any pictures or drunk called or texted anyone.

Great TR Molder66. Your mother sounds like a fun person. You are lucky to have a second gambling partner when your wife can't attend. You did so much this trip and I am sure you made a lot of memories with your mom. I would have loved to go to two concerts in one trip!! Steel Panther is hilarious! Hard to imagine them without their wigs. I saw a few of them on youtube without wigs and they look so much different. Not bad. Just different. I chuckled when you told our relative to look around because most of the people around you didn't know what the did last night either. So true!! Keep writing reports. They are fun to read! :nworthy:

Great TR! I've seen Steel Panther about 8 times in Vegas in the last year, and I only remember bits and pieces of those shows. Thank God I took lots of video and picS! Those bartenders in House of Blues pour some STRONG drinks, and since the shows don't start until about midnight, everyone is sloshed!
