I haven't given MGM casinos much play in a few years though I hold higher level cards at CZR and Stations. MGM sent me an offer for 2 free nights, upgraded to a suite on specific dates, out of the blue. So, I booked 2 nights that have the upgrade to the suite and was told I'll have a suite waiting for me. So, will they screw me at check-in and put me in a worn out regular room when I arrive?

I've always gotten the room I'm booked for at Mandalay. YMMV

You'll probably get the suite, MB has lots of suites that are just a small upgrade from a regular room.

It's going to be just as worn out as a regular room, though, unless they stick you on the penthouse level.

If they're extending an invite to you make fee welcome, why would they then turn around and play games to make you feel unwelcome.

All the Mandalay rooms are a little worn out, they haven't been remodeled. Only THEhotel/Delano has been upgraded.

I'd imagine they'd give you a Great Room suite. They have a couple suites that aren't that huge of an upgrade. GR and Spa Suite, or I think it might be called Bay Suite now. Did they say what room you booked? Or is it "you get a suite if it's available at check in?"

All the MGM rooms are first come first serve. The only way you would be downgraded is if the date and time you arrive are unexpectedly busy. Everything rolls downhill from big players to the 3rd party bookings.

I do not think so. They figure out who is going to get the suites in advance based on offers and play. Showing up late does not screw you out of suite.
