    My Trip Report

    Tuesday:
We took off for Vegas in heavy rain. About an hour into the drive I kind of wished that we had waited until morning because it was bad then all of a sudden it cleared up. Stayed at the Gold Strike for the first night which is located 13 miles into Nevada. Played VP, BJ and craps until about 3am with mixed results. This place is very good with their comps so all it cost was our gambling money which was minimal.

    Wednesday:
Went to Lake Las Vegas again to check about investing a little on a condo and maybe selling when they are built. Really do love it there. Had lunch at the casino and it was very good.
Checked in at the Plaza for two nights that ended up being four nights. Played the nickel VP progressive and hit a royal for $561 in the first hour of play. When you hit a jackpot of two hundred or more they give you a $10 gas card and a drawing ticket for Saturday night drawing.
Tried craps at the Golden Gate but they have gone up to a $5 minimum with 5X odds. Won a few bucks and went back to the Plaza to party and gamble.
One of the pit bosses gave us a comp to the Backstage buffet to try it again because on our last trip we told him the food was not good. Well, they have changed and it was excellent. They don’t have a large selection, but what they had was good and we ended up eating there three days for lunch.
They were filming a movie in the casino and I kept walking behind the actors and will see if I show up when it is released in August. They said the name of the movie was “Man verses Vegas.â€
Ended the day pretty close to even.

    Thursday:
Played most of the day in the race book and some VP with bad results. Went to Mandalay Bay to see the Mamma Mia show. After walking around their casino and checking the payouts on their VP machines and the table minimums we decided to save our money for after the show and play downtown where you get more bang for your buck.
The show was terrific. We had seats in the second row on the isle. It was truly a feel good show and I would recommend it to everyone. Thanks to the people on this board I had one of the most fun filled nights in memory. Normally, I don’t care for shows.
After the show we went back to the Plaza and ended up losing for the day.

    Friday:
Gambled all day and night and ended up on a table with this young guy that bought in for $300 and in a few hours he was up $24,000. To make a long story shorter, he ended up losing $4,000 for the night. Made me sick but it didn’t bother him at all. I ended up the day about $400 plus.

    Saturday:
Now the best part of this trip report. I was playing VP on nickel machines for most of the day and decided to switch to quarters. On my second play I got another royal for $1,000 so now I know that I am going to go home a winner for a change. Oh, I forgot, I got another gas card and another drawing ticket. Well, the drawing was at 8:00 and I had forgotten about it and was sitting in the race book watching some night races when the casino manager comes running in and yells at me to get my ass over to the drawing area. My wife was there when they first called my name and they told her that if didn’t get there in 90 seconds I would forfeit my prize. I got there with 15 seconds to spare and won a 53†Panasonic TV. What a trip this was.

    Way to go Don. [IMG]

That makes about four royals for you in the last two trips! If you keep going at that rate you can buy a couple of condos.

What game was the young guy that lost all the money playing?

Nice trip, great wins. Sad to hear about the $5 craps at the Gate, though.

Killer, the guy was playing at a $5 minimum, $2,000 maximum table. He played with us the next night also and I got to know him pretty well. He said that he plays for the kicks of watching people when he makes big bets. He said he does real well in the commodities market and plays BJ just for fun. BTW, he lost another $8,000 that night.
Yes about the royals. I will go a year or more without one and then get a few in a short period of time. Video Poker is a very streaky game for me.
Doc, I only went to the Gate twice and the craps was $5 minimum, it may be $3 at times.
