My dads friend wants me to put a $15,000 bet on a football game while I'm in vegas, for him. I have two questions, one question is about comps and the others about legality.

1.Is it illegal for me to make a bet for him?

    2. If I asked to be rated on the bet will I get Mlife credits for $15,000?

I never make sports bets so I have no idea how it really works.

Thank you for the answers in advance.

Not sure why you think it would be illegal, unless this friend of your dad is a minor.

The biggest problem you might face is actually placing the bet. It depends on the game in question but a lot of sportsbooks actually limit the size of bets players can make depending on what kind of action they are taking and if the player is a hotel guest, etc.

Nope, 30 years my senior lol.

Oh, I didn't even think about a limit... hmm guess I'll have to give the sports books a call.

    Thanks!

I think you are going to have some trouble calling the sports book. Or at least I did from out of state when I tried.

Yeah, definitely check the limit at the book. At worst, you may have to spread the bet across multiple unrelated properties to get the entire $15,000 wager down. Really depends on the event and how much action is on it.

Also, FYI, I don't believe you get any mlife credit for sports bets

I don't know about M-Life, but there are a number of different places that will give you credits on your account.

Also shop around other books closeby for a better line. That large a bet,be sure you get the best odds possible.
I'd take 5 bets at different windows, avoid paperwork I 've heard for large transactions..

I don't think you will have a problem with the limit especially with it being on an NFL game at an MLife property. With a bet that size, they may think you're a runner and ask if you're a hotel guest

I would think you could bet at Mandalay Bay, Luxor, Excalibur, Tropicana, MGM, NYNY, Monte Carlo, Cosmo, Aria, etc. as you go down that end of the strip and bet 1.5 K at each and you've spread..........OR stand at one counter and bet 1000 $ on your bet and say "another please" until they say no mas....move on until out of cash.......then you only have "small" bets to cash....save the receipts if losers though for confirmation and a smooth oath of empathy.

Yes I am curious too as to who the wager is on? Perhaps I can copy the action?

Haha, I guess thats the spread, like I said I don't know anything about sports betting I'm just putting the cash down and taking a cut for the taxes. I know he wants to bet the patriots so I guess that's it lol.

I think they will ask you whether you want money line or take the points, you might want to find out from your friend before hand.

    I hope the wager wins.

I think laying 9 to a team that three weeks ago looked like the best team in the league and is looking for revenge from the earlier beating they took by the Patriots is a risky wager.

I have made bets of this size and larger many many times in the books at wynn/mirage/caesars etc etc. You will have NO PROBLEM betting that much and significantly more on a football game this time of year. Even in places that have never seen you before, it is NFL playoffs, limits are really really high. If you want to make a large bet on a game for your dads friend there are a few things you should do.

Go to vegasinsider.com and see where best odds are in town before wagering. Odds on VI are only on about a 7 or 8 minute delay. If you pay for the service its in real time. Find best lines it could be the difference between a win and a loss of serious money

Comps even for a bet this large are virtually nothing. Casinos dont care at all about sports bets. Horses yes, sports not a bit. Many dont even want the bets. They have the sports betting option as a service to their clientele. They would much prefer you played ANYWHERE else in the facility. DONT use your card unless you want a 15k win potentially reported to the IRS on your name

Another thing you need to do to avoid this wager being on you Bet 4400 to win 4000 in a few locations when you make the bet, or even less if you like. You want to avoid any single ticket cashing as over 10000 dollars. If it cashes at over 10000 they send a Ereport to IRS and will ask you for SS # and other important info if they do not have it on file. They will 100% send the report if you cash a ticket for 10k, even if the win part is far less then 10k. So any bet over 5300 ( depending on juice) is probably going to cash out at over 10k. Be mindful of that

If you have any questions shoot me a PM

Spend the money on hookers, and then hope the bet loses. Or if it wins, tell him he never gave you the money and act indignant when he demands you pay him back.

FYI, this may not work. On larger bets, the book asks to see your players club card or ID and enter it into their system. So they would know if you are just spreading your bet across their properties. I have this happen all the time when I bet a couple grand or more on a game. Not sure, however, what the cut off is where they do or do not ask for ID

New England is -9 (-110) at Wynn

That is the only book that has -9 right now.

    Might not last.
