Thinking about staying for a night there coming up- is it a decent place to stay at for those have stayed solo there?

It is a fantastic place to stay, but only if you'll have a rental car. It is pretty well removed from the Strip and I wouldn't want to have to rely solely on their shuttle.

Rooms are very nice, service is excellent.

+1 on the rental suggestion, but you might be able to make it work w/ their airport and strip shuttle buses, check their website for the schedule.

Loved my stay there 1.5 years ago.

M Resort is excellent. Very nice rooms. I personally would not, however, stay there without a car.

We stay there regularly "without a car," but then again, we don't really casino-hop. We'll plant ourselves for a couple of days and call it a trip.

One of the most entertaining evenings we've ever spent was at M, sitting in our room, high up, Strip-side, sipping on really good bourbon and watching a really big thunderstorm roll across the valley. Took a couple of hours and was riveting.

Thanks for your responses! It sounds like a nice place.. Is it easy when you check out to get a taxi there?

Agree. Fantastic place - but must have a rental car.

A taxi will cost you a lot of money from there. It's about 10 miles out.

My fave thing about the M is the smell, it is just fantastic in there. My wife put a thing of this by the kitchen sink and it reminds me of the M:

No matter what part of town we stay, we always make it a point to go to the M Buffet. We also like hash house a go go there.

We've only stayed at the M once, getting low rates there is quite a challenge. We were there in Dec a few weeks before X-mas, they had a beautiful gigantic Christmas tree.

We loved our room there. You will have a blast.

I absolutely love the M Resort! I go there several times each trip (I get a rental car so it is easy). It is very simple to get to - a quick shot down I-15 South to the St. Rose exit, or you can simply go straight down Las Vegas Boulevard South, a bit past South Point, and you will see it looming on your left. The casino is really nice, it has good restaurants, and as mentioned before, the buffet is excellent. There are many nights I take off for the M when I don't want to deal with the craziness of the Strip!

This might be an odd question- but since there isn't much else around, do the restaurants and bars that have entertainment fill up quick or are you always able to go for a drink or enjoy dinner in one of their restaurants? thank you for all your replies so far!

The buffet seemed to be pretty crowded, but the other bars/restaurants were easy to get into, at least during the middle of the week.

I've stayed there solo before and always felt safe. The rooms and the property are very nice, but removed from the strip. You will definitely want a rental if you are flying in.

M used to be a fav, but not so much anymore. The rooms are outstanding...as someone mentioned very tough to get a deal...we used to get very good offers when in Phoenix...we moved to STL and can't get any discounts from here. We are moving back to LV so maybe that will open up...I'm not sure if locals get better offers or not.

The buffet was once one of the best...now middle of the pack at best. They also tightened up the slots which caused my wife some frustration. They also recently closed the poker room...the sports book is very nice although it is managed by Cantor and that is not a plus.

I would still stay at the M...have always found the food outlets to be very good. If you do rent a car, arrange for a shuttle to the hotel and book Enterprise at the Exec Airport which is right down the street. They will pick you up, it is very convenient and you avoid the lines and McCarron fees.

I think that since I am there for two nights and then move on to stay on the strip after that, I am debating about renting a car and just either take a taxi or request transportation to be picked up at the airport...I know they have a shuttle too...Do taxi drivers ever resist and won't drive there from the airport? (they do get a tip so I suppose they wouldn't but I guess you never know)!
