    Morning Everyone

Just a quick question - does anyone know the calculation or where to find the calculation for the comps based on table game play. ie average bet; time played; game = $ comps?

I play a lot of Pai Gow and Blackjack - we have a host and get comped rooms for the week but i just wondered what the calculation is?

    Hope this makes sense.

    Cheers

You can probably calculate it yourself. you need to determine your ADT. To find that, you need to know your average bet, the average number of hands per hour, and the house edge on the game. I don't know pai gow well enugh to help you, but blakjack is easy. If you play pefect basic strategy, round the house edge up to 1% (could be more depending on the rules). Multiple that by 60 hands per hour, times your average bet, times the number of hours you played. The result is your ADT. Whatever number that is, I think most casinos will then give you comps of somewhere between 30% and 40% of that number.

Hope that helps. Try Wizard of Odds to look up the pai gow house edge

    Cheers UKfanatic

I take it from the username we are both from the same side of the atlantic.

So for a $25 dollar average bet over 4 hrs is it.

0.01 x 60 (hph) x 25 ( ave bet) x 4 (hrs play) = $60 ADT therefore comps based on 30% of that so $18 worth of comps for 4hrs play at blackjack at $25 per hand.

    Is that the correct calculation?

    Thanks for the help.

the basic rule of thumb you can use for low HA games like pai gow, BJ, Bacc, etc is your avg bet for 4 hours is your comps earned. so $25 avg bet 4 hours earns you $25 in comps.

also for comps off of theo, 40% is the number, not 30%. if you're only getting 30% you're being severely undercomped.

Keep in mind that the formula of avg house advantage * hands played * bet per hand is just a guideline. It really depends on where you stay and play. For instance downtown will definitely comp a $10 player better than the strip. On the strip, your comps for this action is effectively 0 as they probably won't even rate you.

I find that the comps I receive from various properties (even in the same family) vary wildly. And I play the exact same amount at each property. It's just part of the comp "game".

They don't comp better DT because they calculate theo any differently. They comp better because they charge less to your comp account for rooms and things. There's only one way to calculate theo and all casinos use it.

Cheers guys - thanks for that. I dont really track the comps that I get that much.

For info we go to Vegas once a year (as in UK) with the guys. Stay at Luxor and normally get all of our meals (including some decent $300/$400 dinners) comped and something off the room. We normally get a suite with some free nights up front.

    I play pai gow $75 - $200 a hand and blackjack $25- $100 a hand but we gamble I reckon 6 - 8 hrs a day sometimes more.

If I make a second trip its normally with the wife and we'll stop at the Bellagio - dont get chance to gamble anywhere near as much as that. We dont see hardly any comps from them.

Thanks for all the help people.
