Go there and play and play big, such as $100 a hand BJ for a few hours, or slots with $10K coin-in. they will comp your buffet.

When was the last time you played there?

You don't need to play that large. We show up, play penny slots for an hour or so every 3 months and get monthly buffet offers or dining credits.

M used to be very generous on comps. But the new owner company, Penn National, is very stingy.

M raised the bar on offers somewhat, no different than any other company did in the past 4 or so years. They were ridiculously generous while the place was new, which is a common strategy for new off strip casinos. My recent offers from them are competitive with any other casino.

I think BlueGlass is asking how to get the free buffet for this trip.

Are you staying there this next trip? If not have you given them a fair amount of play? If the answer to both of those questions is no, I'd let it go. Deals come and go. This one went.

If you will be staying there and/or you have a good record of play it can't hurt to call them up and ask to speak to a host (I'm assuming you've never spoken to one before there). I'd talk to them more in the context of gathering information rather than demanding something. Along the lines of, "I used to get mailers with offers on them but they have stopped. Have I been gone too long? Have the standards changed? I'm planning my next trip and I'm trying to decide if M continues to be a good fit for me". You never know what a host might offer to get you back in the door. As long as you are honest about your intentions it certainly can't hurt. On the other hand if you get the cold shoulder you might find out that M *isn't* a good fit for you any more. Plenty of other casinos to give your business to.

I played there late 1 night with the wife just to see what the place looked like. We were heading home the next day. After about and hour i earned a free buffet. Never got the chance to use it and I don't know if it was a special promo that day but the boothling told me when she checked my card that i had earned a free buffet.

3 months later I got an offer for 3 free nights, 25 in fsp and a free buffet. Can't use it next month because the only day they had available, during my 10/7-14 Vegas trip, was 10/8 (and I don't do 1 nighters unless absolutely necessary). I would have done 10/7-9th (since I have 10/9-14 at Paris). Im doing Orleans from 10/7-9. I would have liked to try out the hotel but something tells me that the offers will keep coming for at least a year!

Correct on the Penn National influence...let's see how they handle the Tropicana transition.

You can play slots or VP and probably earn a free buffet, but play close attention the points needed for lunch versus dinner and make sure you are in the line for the lunch prices. If it is a weekend, 100 other people will have the same idea.

Even under the original owners, they stopped sending buffets and eventually other offers if you didn't come you use them. At the end of the day, the are a locals casino and recent visits mean more to them. What does seem lost under Penn are those easy-peasy build up your account promos they used to run.
