Side note, I used Uber a couple of weeks ago. I took it from DTLV to Hard Rock ( 15 mins, ~$17) then cabbed it from Hard Rock to McCarran (5 mins, ~$13 )..
I had a $20 uber code due to expire soon so this was a good way to burn it.

Yeah same here. My credit card has a thing for the first 2 rides free (45 dollar limit) So i will use that to go down town once and probably to come back to the strip.
If anyone else has a capital one venture card you should poke around for that free perk as well.

How do you use Uber/Lyft from the airport? Do they have a separate pick-up section like the taxi line?

Yes. If you look on this link
    https://www.mccarran.com/Fly/MyJourneyMap.aspx?location=OVERVIEW&~#
click on the ground transportation (Ride share) and it will show on the map where Lyft pick up is.
Uber is still not officially allowed to pick up/drop off at airport yet.

As someone coming from another country I'm pretty sure that if you don't have a roaming plan/ valid American sim it will cost more in data to use the app than any saving from taking a Taxi to use Uber/Lyft. I wonder if the ride-sharing companies will install wifi in the pickup area?

Yeah this would be trouble for your data plan, because it uses GPS which is a data killer. Thankfully Rogers new Roam Like Home is amazing and I now only pay $5 a day to use my minutes/texting/data like I would from home. I've used it my last two trips and it's been so convenient.

I use Uber all the time at home (Toronto). Haven't tried LYFT but with all these promo codes floating around, sounds like January in Vegas will be a great time to start.

Anyone tried Lyft from the strip to the airport yet? Just wondering approximately how much it would cost. Thanks in advance for any info.

That's almost half price from DT to the strip. A cab is about $35. I might have to try that if I end up going to the strip this next trip.
