    My Trip Report

Ok so I will admit I am lurker to this website and final decided to post a trip report… The wife, and me fly out tomorrow for a quick weekend trip to LAS… I have been to sin city three times with countless trips to the Indian casinos and the wife made her first trip to Vegas earlier this year…

We are flying Southwest on points from our CC so the flight for two is 10 bucks total… Can’t beat this deal… We are staying at the LVH because like I said the wife went to Vegas this year for a conference and we got casino rate for $20 a night on the weekend…

This hotel has some bad reviews and will update when I return. So weekend trip from TX to Vegas = 50 bucks, I call that a win already.

I mainly play dice and some 25-cent machines and the wife plays penny slots…

This will probably not be an epic trip like Nate, UKFanatic or Shifter but I will say I love reading the posts from these people… I have no desire to chase comps and will play at any property and have no true agenda for the weekend but to have some fun…

I will post as I go or if not for sure when I return…

I'd say skip dice at LVH, it was a real downer..
However, they have some decent 25c vP.
My wife and I just got back from there last weekend on a random comp offer.
    Definitely ask for EAST TOWER.
Also, you should get tix to Raiding The Rock Vault with you stay, DEFINITELY go see it!
If I were you, I'd buy a monorail pass the day you get there..having it so close is HANDY.

If you decide to play table games at LVH, DEFINITELY ask for a comp (They'll ask if you're staying there, just say NO! Then they'll call a host for you and he'll write out a comp slip for you)

    Most important, HAVE FUN!
Like you said, a lot of people hate on LVH, but we really enjoyed it.

I am going to break the trip up into parts: Flight & Hotel, Strip Gambling, Downtown Gambling and Misc. I will try and post ASAP but a little busy with grad school.

    Flight & Hotel

The flight was delayed about thirty minutes so no big deal and we landed in Las Vegas at about 1:45 local time. Hit up baggage claim and got in the taxi line. Twenty minutes or so
Later we were at the LVH. I tried it's our anniversary, line and had a twenty out but the front test told me no renovated rooms were available, only suites. Then she came up with what was supposed to be a renovated room just on a low floor. I was happy for a few minutes until I got into the room

The room was good and clean but the bathroom needed to be updated in a major way. The showerhead was broken and maybe five foot up. I am 6'4 so this was a problem. I did not pay the resort fee because they allowed you to opt out of the $18 a night fee that included Internet, and fitness center access.

The hotel is showing it age for sure and I am unsure how I would fix the problem. Some areas of the hotel are dark and while others empty space and have no real flow or meaning. It's sad about the Star Trek area when you get off the monorail; it is empty and dark area.

We will probably not stay at the LVH again because of the vibe of the hotel was not in line with my wishes for Vegas. We did eat at the Noodle bar and was ok but they put a ton of onions in it and became they over powering, the sports book was open all night and the breakfast burrito was really good for like five bucks.

Sorry to hear that LVH wasn't to your liking...
I agree though, LVH isn't a place to "be seen" like Aria and Cosmo are (ie: open and bright)
A lot of casinos are designed to be "dark and shadowy" because people don't usually want to be seen gambling..
On the room issue, did you get a north/east/central tower room?

    More!

I don't mind the LVH room especially for the views. I thought the resort fee was required? Is it opt-out on non-casino rate offers?

    22 Casino Chips

I will start by saying the whole weekend trip to Vegas cost $150 for air, hotel, food, souvenirs for the kids. This includes a $200 loss / lunch at the airport on the way home.

I had a goal to get a dollar chip at every casino they we visited over the weekend. It just so turned out that we hit up 22 casinos.

    Craps

I play mostly craps but did put a few twenties into some slot machines. The wife had never played craps and really liked the game when she played with me. She really likes the new penny slots that have bonus rounds. My normal play in craps is Pass line with 2-5 times odds and $52-$54 across. I usually take a couple of pays then press one unit every hit. Maybe not the best strategy but fun and can limit the losses.

One big win for the trip came on Saturday at Caesars when I bought in for $100 and the wife for $60. Forty minutes later we cash out $950 combined. One roller, hit only one point, rolled for 30 minutes. ☺ The win would have been better but was gun-shy cause I was down to about $200 of my daily bankroll. Played downtown both Friday and Saturday night at the Golden Gate and LVC. Did really well at both as far as time played and money won. I can’t remember the total wins from these casinos but had a blast and drank way to many beers. Downtown is much better for my wife playing craps, because she likes the $5 tables and can play a couple of numbers. She is probably going to start playing more and more craps now; she said she loves the game.

    Video Poker

I played very little Video poker maybe 2 hours total. I needed a beer while at Flamingo so decided to hit up Bugsy’s Bar and played 25-cent Double Double and hit quad 3s. We played a little at the bar in the back of Binions, while we grabbed a $3.49 pizza and had a few beers. No big wins but good company and good food and beer. I did try the loss rebate at the Cosmo so played $5 for $100 and no big win so loaded my card with Identity Play with the $100 loss rebate. I played this through a 25cent Double Double machine and cash out $125.

    Slots

We played: Michael, Oz, Hangover, and Pawn Stars. Wife did the best on Michael with a couple of bonus rounds that paid close to $400, which helped cover the losses. Some of these machines just eat twenties, ☹ I played the Megabucks and the Lions Share and no wins to speak of, maybe next trip.

I would be happy to answer to questions…. I will post more later
