    My Trip Report

Monday May 31 was Memorial Day. I live in Phoenix so woke up around 6 AM and actually worked in the morning. I have a part time job I do online, so I worked for a few hours while having my coffee and listening to some Mozart.

Around ten am decided it was time to pack. I also decided it was time for a beer! LOL, I wasn't driving to Sky Harbor airport so all is good. Loaded up the Ipod with Brahms, Schumann and the soundtrack of the Lion King Broadway musical.

Got to Sky Harbor airport in Phoenix and checked in at the Southwest terminal. Since bags fly free, I checked my bag and only brought my laptop bag with me. Got a window seat so I can see the Grand Canyon on the flight. I listened to Schumann's Symphony #1 as well as the Lion King soundtrack for the one hour flight.

It was a gorgeous day in the desert climate of Las Vegas which I love. Since it was Memorial Day, my local friend picked us up at the airport. Waiting for her probably took longer than a cab, but oh well.

Got to the Luxor and tried the $20 trick. It worked! Upgraded to a Player's Club room on the 17th floor in the West Tower. The lady at the check in was fun to talk to. My credit card has the Arizona Cardinals on it and we talked some Cards football. The room was quite nice and I was happy to see the coffeemaker there. I need my am coffee. I had brought some energy drinks with me and I had one in the room.

Went down to the casino and it seemed kinda dead. Most of the table games were empty so I played some video roulette. I won about $100 and had a great cocktail waitress. Tipped her $5.00 for the first beer and a buck or two for the next few.

We then went to dinner at the Pyramid Cafe. I love the pizza at the cafe there so I ordered that. Ran up a 100 dollar tab with food and drinks. Thankfully got that comped!

Wandered over to the Excalibur. I know the Excalibur isn't loved on here, but I had a fun time there. Never lacking for a cocktail there. Didn't notice any kids, but wow, 21 year olds sure look young these days!

Then, I went to NYNY. Wow! I loved this casino. It was loud and people were having fun! I found a $10 craps table that was packed. Cocktail waitress came around frequently, the people were fun.

Went back to the Luxor and I had horrible luck at the craps table there. Only a few people playing and I quickly lost interest and went back to the hotel

    Day 2 in next post.

I woke up in the Luxor and needed some coffee. There were only two packs there and the electrical outlet on the wetbar didn't work! I moved the coffeemaker to another outlet and made both packs of coffee. I'm a stockbroker and I was happy to see CNBC was one of the tv stations offered at the hotel. I sat around in the room for a while watching the market and waking up. I put $5 on the bed and wrote a note asking for more coffee packs.

I made it down to the casino by noon so I could take their gaming lessons. I always find casino's gaming lessons to be interesting. I could not find any cocktail waitresses so I got to buy a $6.00 beer at the bar. I noticed the Pyramid cafe had specials starting at 2 and I was in no mood to eat early so I decided to wait until then to eat. The table games were dead so I stuck to slots. I won $200 on a Star Trek slot, so that ticket carried me throughout the afternoon. Played some video roulette and broke even. Then I made the mistake of playing the Wizard of Oz slots. I know I shouldn't play penny slots, but this must be the tightest machine in Nevada! Ugh. Thankfully, 2 PM came around and I went to the Pyramid cafe for their cheap beer and another pizza. For less than $20, I had a ton of beer and one of their pizzas.

Then, I went to their shops. A friend of mine wanted a baby Las Vegas shirt and the Luxor has shop specials in the afternoon. I could not find any baby Las Vegas stuff there. I went to one of their stores and bought a beer. Had to get ready for dinner and a show. Back to the room and got online for a while.

I had a Restaurant.com certificate for Tacos and Tequilas at Luxor. Wow! I loved this restaurant. The margarita was excellent and the food was outstanding.

We went over to Mandalay Bay for the Lion King. We were early so I went into the Mandalay Bay sports bar to watch some baseball. I was quite impressed with Mandalay Bay. I looked again at the Lion King store for some baby stuff, but didn't see any.

The Lion King show was amazing. The show was very long with an intermission. I went over to THE Hotel to use their bathrooms during the intermission. I like THE Hotel. Given the location and the price, I doubt I'll ever stay there, but it is a class act.

Wandered back to the Luxor and played some blackjack with a group of young Europeans. They were a fun group, although I didn't do very well. I then went over to a roulette table to play with a group of young California girls as well as some people from the UK. That was fun. I don't play much roulette, and the older guys from the UK helped me with some bets.

Wednesday check out day was kinda blah. I was tired from the past two days. However, the maid left me a ton of coffee for my tip! I spent the am in the room. Took a cab back to the airport and had a few drinks in the airport bar.
