I have a question. I keep reading how luxor is so much better than excalibur but what about the rooms.

IF your choices were only a pyramid standard room at luxor or a contemporary king room at excalibur for 3 days what would you choose??

I would choose Luxor over Excalibur 8 days a week. I would rather stay in Ancient Egypt on a burning hot day with sand blowing on a drooling camel than choose a place where little kids roll around in pee at the pool and then have horse meat for dinner at Tournament of Kings.
    But that's just my opinion........YMMV.

the Circus Circus room is better than excalibur. If the same price room, circuscircus is better than luxor.

Of course, the excalibur has the better location.

That's sort of a tough choice. Overall you have to go with Luxor because the property is nicer, more to do there, more shows, somewhat updated Casino. But the Pyramid rooms are old, and weirdly shaped. But the Excalibur rooms are super old, and contemporary was still updated like 10 years ago... I've stayed in both, never had an issue with cleanliness or anything. Basically the rooms are just ugly.

If you could spring it, Tower Room at Luxor all the way, those are nice, I was really surprised. (or try the $20 trick to get upgraded)

the tower rooms are at least $30 more a night.

Might switch over then if ppl are saying they are better than the contemporary

I could be wrong, but I thought they have been updating the Excalibur rooms. I know they at least boast flatscreens, while pyramid rooms are ancient

    This...

The Contemporary rooms at Excal are actually pretty nice...

Digital AC, Flatscreen with HD TV, Granite countertops, really comfy beds...

They are in Tower II and even the hallways have been remodeled...

The only good thing about staying in the pyramid at Luxor is you get to use the inclinator...the diagonal elevator...

Ya i was going to book one in tower 2. I just heard luxor is better over all. Other than the pool we won't really be exploring our "home" property.

Excalibur has a decent food court right? that is where we will get most our meals as well, we are not major restaurant types.

both Luxor and Excalibur have decent cheap eats. Dick's Last Resort can be a lot of fun too.

If you have any points on an Mlife card, it is pretty easy to get an upgrade to the towers at Luxor. If not, try signing up for their emails, friend them on Facebook, and sign up for their text message deals.

I'd still take the Luxor pyramid rooms over Excalibur though.
