    Buffet almost same!!!

I was in december in both places and the buffet was almost same, the only thing different is the ambience, Luxor was better.

Is "better" even a term you can apply in any fashion to these two buffets?

i can't answer, but have to wonder.

it has been many years, more than a decade since i have been to either buffet. first trip to vegas featured a visit to the cheap excalibur buffet. it was like a nonstop cafeteria line of people, and set up like a cafeteria... not the buffet experience i enjoy.

luxor was more spacious and not nearly as busy, but not as cheap, either.

can luxor really be no better than the Ex in 2013?

I went to the Excal buffet last summer and it was horrible. I would of much rather just ate at the quiznos next door.

Due to myVegas, I have 2 buffets at the Luxor so I'm going to try it. I'll make sure and include it in my trip report when I return.

Excalibur buffet was the worst we have tried on the strip. Have been there only 1 time about 4-5 years ago so can't really speak for how it is now.

Luxor buffet has always been decent. We have been there several times and never once disappointed! It's no Wynn, Bellagio buffet.

We stay at THEHotel/Mandalay Bay and skip the buffet there for Luxor next door.

I haven't tried the Luxor buffet, but I have been to the one at Excalibur. For lunch, Excalibur was not good. The food was bland and, like was mentioned before, it was setup like a cafeteria. Though, I have to admit, we gave it another try (probably because we had a coupon) for breakfast and the food was pretty good.

Just going on that though, I'd give Luxor a shot.

I ate at the Excalibur buffet a long time ago and barely survived, although i once tried the "Surf Buffet" at the Boardwalk because "Butter Bean" SAID it was good. I've learned by my mistakes.
Luxor buffet is pretty good, the food in Ancient Egypt is a lot better than the middle ages of Britain.

I agree that free is free. I had one free one at the Luxor and survived. For those posters who have liked the experience, share specifics as to what foods seemed good. My experience was that I tried about ten things and threw most of them away, going back for the most palatable. There is always something that is right on any buffet. What would it be at this one?

The yelp reviews are both horrible.. go for Bellagio? It's not that big of a price difference.

I've only been to the Luxor buffet once and it was dismal.

Luxur gets 2.5 stars on Yelp, Excalibur 2 (out of 5). Neither sound great...

I'm not looking for an amazing spread. I just want to one time enjoy a Vegas buffet. And I figure I might as well use my LP.

So as long as they have food that is cooked and a few selections I think will be more than happy.

Unless there is a different supper buffet with the credits that I could get.

I already have the credits for the sporting house and I'm working on getting the Circus Circus steakhouse one. So I figured I might as will throw in a supper buffet as well.

One is less crappy than the other is the best way I would describe it.
