which has the best pool area and how strict are they about checking bags when you enter the pool area as want to bring a couple of waters in my bag.

also can I bring in a starbucks coffee as plan on hitting the pool right after I get up.

know some of the pools your bag is checked (flamingo, MGM Grand) and some hotels do not even check.

They checked my gfs bag and our room key at the Excalibur pool last summer. They also made me toss my beer before entering. I cant recall if they allowed you to bring bottled water. I think it depends on whos at the door and if they're in a ******y mood. I've contemplated slipping those guys a 20 and bringing in my own beer/liquor.

Of the two I would say the Luxor pool area is much nicer looking, but was able to find better seating at Excalibur (because light bounces off the pyramid and in to the pool area there is very little shaded spots at Luxor and everything is a little extra hotter).

Its been a few years since we stayed at Luxor but waaaaaaaaaay back then (2007) I walked in with a small ice chest (holds about 8 351ml cans) full of ice and drinks and the security guy checking keys didn't care.

Luxor pool is much nicer. It really all depends on who is working, but I would go on the assumption that they will let you bring nothing in. You might be able to take in a morning coffee that you're finishing up, especially if it is early. I wouldn't count on being able to bring in water

Can't speak for checking bags, but I agree with the other posts. The Luxor pool is much nicer.
