I cannot believe the number of commercials on network TV for the movie Lucy that's out in a couple of weeks. Seems like there's one on just about every commercial break. They're on so much that it almost makes me tired of seeing Scarlett Johannson, which I would have never thought possible!

Ha! The show was a big deal back in the day and tons of folks fell in love with the re-reruns.

Your post reminds me of a VMB poster "Lucy"... I'm not sure we've heard from her in some time. She appeared to be a senior, who traveled and enjoyed Las Vegas solo and I believe lived in So. Cal somewhere. I always thought of "the little old lady from Pasadena" when I read her posts. I hope she's OK.

Usually when its questionable how a movie will do upon release they will really pump it up with TV advertising - the costs versus the returns usually work out for the studios.

This one they are probably waffling on if it should have gone to the theatres or straight to video.

Speaking of Scarlett Johannson, we dubbed "HER" and tried watching it on our last plane trip. I love her voice in the movie, but what a stupid, boring movie. After a hour we just quit.

I remember her saying she was on cruisecritic.com a lot. A quick search over there shows she's still active with her lastest post 4 days ago.

When a movie may appeal to more demos than just the average teenage boy, you're more likely to see more advertising. This one they seem to want a lot of awareness for women. If it was just marketed for fanboys, I wouldn't have seen so many ads for it. Plus I think it's out in August and that month can be harder for opening a movie.

Didn't she have a skin problem or something. I know she reported she was in the hospital. The no BB thread is a sign something is amiss. She was crazy about that show.

+1 for the LucyR fan club, you only get one chance to rock and she seems to be rocking on.

My wife fell asleep after the first half hour, but I ended up liking it. An interesting take on the concept of how humans (and especially the younger generation) today embrace electronic interaction over more personal or in your face direct communication. All is not lost, you have to see the ending.

OK Hammie, I went back and watched for about the last 30 minutes. I think I might have dozed off in front of my computer. It still sucks!
