My situation hasn't changed but as I said I'm not going to throw 4+ years of winnings away. So for me I would rather take a one or two year break. After the july trip win or lose I will probably take that break. I feel as the luck has run out for now. I know that's in my head and has nothing to do with the dice or cards but like in golf, it's 90% in your head.

I have come to realize, for me, changing level of play does not change the fun or agony of gambling. The people gambling around me and/or the dealers make the time gambling either fun and exciting, or just plain agonizing. Then again, I am not going from bets in the thousands, down to double and single digit bets, so the spread is not that significant to begin with.

Packer, I couldn’t agree with you more.

For me I have been limiting my number of trips as of late, but have not limited the amount of play on each trip.

Looking back, I play for a few years then take a break for a year or two. I have repeated this for over 20 years.

I too am looking for that break fairly soon. Until then good luck to us all!

Completely agree....I'm at 4 straight winning years, and a really nice run the past 7-8 years, albeit small win in comparison to years and years of losses pre-2008. After a really nice winning year so far, I just feel more like basking in the streak for a while then starting the inevitable process of giving it back.

I think I could easily lower my BR and still enjoy Vegas as much as I usually do. I've NEVER had a winning trip in 9 tries, so a lower bankroll would just mean I come home with more money, which I think would equal a higher level of happiness. With that said, I don't plan on spending any less any time soon. Maybe once I finally hit a win...

My BR is a modest $10k per trip. If I have a losing trip I'll add to it before my next trip. If my BR grows to over $10k due to a winning trip I'll siphon it off to a level $10k.

As far as lowering my bet level I don't, unless I lock in a big early win and then I'll tend to slow roll it a little during the rest of my week long visit.

This is what i like to hear pp. A true gambler. Go kill the bacc table, shifter style. Go big or don't go at all. Damn I wish I could be out there. I'm ready to go in kill mode. Press like there is no tomorrow. Win everything back or loose everything. Tell the casino there will be lots of f bombs when things aren't going right and lots of high fives when you are winning. Get my losses back from last year and add it to your wallet.

Lol, poor mackers mom. I heard she has many bags of dick for mlife to suck as well.

Pphold! This thread is about lowering your level of play or can you go to vegas with a much lower BR? I guess we all know your answer. Same as mine actually. BUT........
Hold on to that 100k until July! You will have a chance to win if you roll with us! Remember my friend you are up for the year in vegas. Like 4-2 for the year right? We cannot let vegas take us down due to chasing, a feeling, having the fever or throwing 100k just because it is extra money. Hold on to the 100k and bring 200k in July we will kill them!! You, me and broncofn have had some amazing rolls together and will in July. We are smarter than shifters no money mgmt go for broke technique (which has worked for him and no disrespect to shifter at all. Go get um shifter!).. Don't we all want our money to at least last just a little while? VegasChic is right, get off the ledge! But don't jump! It isn't .com it's .none right now.

Bottom line, I know you are going anyway!! And as a fellow Las Vegas DEGENERATE, I say, BREAK THE FRICKEN BANK!! Lol

Just found this thread and have been reading it and find it fascinating. Here is my personal feeling on this. I am an extremely low roller compared to all of you and I take with me a bankroll that I can afford to lose. Years ago I was in a better position and my bankroll was higher but I get no less satisfaction now than then because it is all relative to what the bankroll can give me in other things and what I can afford to lose. So even though my bets have dropped they are still the same percent of my affordable budget and therefore still represent the same rush for winning or disappointment of losing as it is all relative to what I can afford.

However, if I dropped my bankroll and still could afford my prior bankroll I think my fun would diminish - as the thrill of the win would not represent a "treat". Make sense?

Yes. That's what I have been saying. BR doesn't matter. Whether it is 10k or 1k as you said it is all relative. I would not be too happy going with a 10,000 BR tomorrow as opposed to a 135k BR. (Probably wouldn't go) For me, it Just isn't the same. This trip I might have a large BR but I guarantee you I won't be losing even a fraction of it. Well, maybe a fraction! Need money to make money and again, it is all relative.

My last trip I upped my BR significantly; while it didn't help that I lost everywhere I can't say that I think I would have had more fun if I were winning.

    For me, yes.

My trip bankroll has not changed much, but it has been spread over longer trips and with more poker. I have happily chased more lower limit play when playing table games.

But it likely depends on the mindset. I've never really tended to press bets or play higher variance, so the lost 'action' is not a big pain. And since I am staying at lower/cheaper rooms, any lost comp offers are very little cost difference.

Both of the times we went to Vegas, we traveled cheap and gambled low. We still had a great time. I'm looking forward to gambling more this time but don't think anyone should stop going just because they don't have as much of a bankroll. Everyone says Vegas is expensive, but from my experience and research, it can really be done on any budget. You can spend a shockingly low amount (we spent more for a week at the beach than we did in Vegas, even though we only live an hour away from the coast!), a small fortune or somewhere in-between. And there are low-roller gambling options and so many other fun, cheap (and free!) things to do, you won't really feel like you're missing out if you're in the right mindset.

First hand knowledge. For Me, broncofn and pphold as i can speak for them and tell you... There is no way we can lower are average bet and bankroll!! We all wanted to lower our averages this last weekend but Pp and broncofn raised their averages and BR's! Lol ....
My average was lowered due to the Wynn and there wonderful decision to change the craps game. But my avg was wayyy up for me on baccarat and bj. Personally, I said in my opening statement (in general) there was no way I could lower my bankroll and do Lost Wages with the same enthusiasm. If I didn't have the BR I have I wouldn't go. The numbers are all relative but I bet dollars to doughnuts 90% of you wouldn't/couldnt go to vegas with a BR of 50-80% less on a constant basis. Whether your BR is 3000 or 300k.

Just one note about this - (my normal bankroll these days is about $2500 for a 3-night trip, btw):

There comes a point when one cannot lower their bankroll & continue the play the games they prefer.
I am a good example of that. If I were to cut my bankroll in half ($1250) for a 3 night trip, that would allow me $416/day.

When I go, I spend about 14 hours each day at the tables - mostly blackjack & UTH., at a 70-30 ratio.
My average bet on blackjack is about $20 and for UTH, about $30.
So - about 9 hours a day at blackjack and 5 on UTH.
    9 hours x $20 x 80 hands/hour = $14,400 per day bet.
    5 hours x $30 x 20 hands/hour = $3,000 per day bet.

So - about $17k per day in wagers made.
Average house-edge (between the two games) is probably about 1-2%. So, I win about 49% of the hands and lose about 51%.
    51% of $17K = $8670 lost and 49% of $17K = $8330 won. Net result = -$340 lost per day.
If variance has taught me anything, it's that I need at least twice that amount per day in available cash for wagering... or $680/day.
    $680 x 3 = $2040.
So - I would still go with a $2000 bankroll, but would not on only $1250...unless I was only going for a 1-night trip, a day & a half of gambling.
    Make sense?

Oh, and I cannot "lower my bets", as the $30/avg in UTH is betting $5s and the $20/avg in BJ is betting a base-bet of $10.

So - for the play that I go for, I really cannot cut my bankroll in half.
On the other hand, if were going with a $5000 bankroll & betting twice the average bet I currently do, I could "cut" to $2500 & still play at my current, lower limits.

As you know, I've been thinking of ways to lower my level of play Packer. I would be happy just playing blacks and pressing if I'm doing well but I do find it hard to do. I believe vegasbj said its like a big FU when you play lower and get a blackjack which i fully understand. Also, the excitement gets your juices flowing when you have big bets or table max bets out in the betting circle.

I've been thinking, if I cannot lower my level of play, I would like to see if I could reduce how many trips per year I do between AC and vegas. That might be the only option to kinda balance things out?
