    My Trip Report

    Sunday the 29th
Can't believe it is finally here! We had our reservations booked at the Aria for over 90 days before it was actually time to go. This gave me time to research like crazy and feel very prepared to get the most of my money in Vegas. My wife and I were going with another couple that had never been so I felt like I needed to do more planing than usual.

Our flight was leaving at 1 and with the Wichita airport being small. We cruised thru the lines and then hit the bar. My wife hates to fly so she had already had a huge Bloody Mary at the house. We had drinks at the bar and then saw our friends pull a foot long Subway out of their bag. Oops! Guess I didn't plan for that. Told them thanks for asking us if we wanted one and instead ordered food for about 3 times the price (that wasn't as good).

After about an hour we boarded the plane and got on our way. Right as the plane was taking off the door to the cockpit flung open! Turns out the door is broken and they start trying to fix it after the plane hit it cruising altitude. They were unable to and announced that we were going to either go back to Wichita or fly to Colorado Springs where maintenance would be able to fix. We had loved the fact that we were on a nonstop flight and were not looking forward to a stop but after about 20 minutes they got it fixed and after doing some checking they got us played to fly to Vegas without a detour. There were many people that needed to use the bathroom that had to wait about 30 minutes longer than they had planned!

We arrived in Vegas, got our bags and headed to the taxis. Wife and I had done limo last trip but it was such a short ride we didn't do it this time. The line for the cab was long but later wife said that she was told it was actually a short line.

Made it to the Aria for another long line at check in. Wives said that they would do it and that the guys could go gamble. We played some blackjack and I ended up down a little before we got the call that they had made it through their hour wait in line. We thought that the girls had better chances of us getting an upgrade but they didn't. They tried the birthday story as we were celebrating birthdays for two of our party. They were told that they would have upgraded but were full so we headed up to 19224 and 19226.

Rooms were nice but warm so we turned the air way down and then went downstairs as our friends wanted some tapas. Drank only one Corona and was glad as they were $8 there and free with a tip a few steps away.

Sorry this is so long and we haven't even started gambling yet. If you are still reading I will add more later but have to go to work.

I'm so old that I remember a flight one time when a pilot left to use the toilet and the doors to the flight deck remained opened during the rest of the flight. It was cool watching things from near the front of the plane.

    Those days are long gone.

We left the Aria and cabbed over to the Palms. I had signed the wife and I up for the Slot Coupon vouchers at both the Palms and Tropicana. We ended up only getting $40 back from our $100 of slot play at the Palms so hoped to do better later at Tropicana. We ate at Gardunos with the $50 voucher from LVA and ended up still having to spend $50 a couple after food, drink, and tip. Ordered way too much food as we each ordered a menu item when it turns out we could only finish half of it.

We left for Carrot Top after some more gambling. Our friends had a contact that could get us free tickets and Carrot Top was great! The videos before the show were very funny but our friends showed up later and missed most of the pre-show. We had great seats in the middle of the theatre where the walkway was so you could really stretch out your legs.

We walked over to Tropicana to do the rest of our freeplay. I had told the other couple about Slot Play Coupons but he didn't think he wanted to play slots (it turns out he played a decent amount of slots during the trip). We waited in line a little while before I realized I hadn't brought the coupons from the hotel. I guess I might have been able to pull off the information from our email account but didn't think about it at the time. We played some blackjack and had decent luck there.

We then headed back towards the Aria on foot stopping at NYNY so our friends could ride the roller coaster (2-1 lva). They liked it and I wish we would have gone somewhere so that we could have watched them ride it. After that it was back to the hotel. Don't know for sure what time it was but being on Central time it seemed late when we got back.

I am sure I am forgetting many things. I wish I had done some notes after each day.

    Mongo,
I didn't eat at any other restaurant at Aria after the first little snack at the tapas bar. The girls ate at the sports bar during happy hour and enjoyed it. My wife had an $11 (I think it was) coke at the pool. We thought about doing a lighter breakfast there but had coupons for Paris buffet that we had loved the trip before and PH coupons too that made it so cheap to eat breakfast there. At Aria one omelet cost the same as two buffets and I like a variety of items for breakfast.

We got up the next morning and headed to the Paris buffet for breakfast. We had loved eating there last time and although I had read it had slipped some we enjoyed it and everyone ate too much. We used our LVA coupon and saved $20 although I hadn't gotten my card so I ended up paying extra as a result. My wife went and bought some Paris items at 20% off for my daughter thanks to a acg coupon. We went up the Eiffel Tower on a 2-1 from LVA. Love the Jew even though I hate heights. Noticed how far Terribles was from up there and didn't think I would go that far (little did I know). The girls headed to the pool and the guys headed to Bill's.

We had a nice run at Bill's on the craps table. Last trip I had lost money 2 different mornings at the old Barbary Coast as I was too cheap to play the $10 early morning tables at Bellagio so it was nice to get that money back. Drinks were coming fast but we had places to go so we moved on.

Had read about Westin's $50 deal so we stopped there. The Westin was the most dead casino we visited. I had lost most of my money but then was dealt 3 Kings and drew the 4th for a $125 win. Left the Westin without ever seeing a cocktail waitress but I quit right after hitting the Kings so I left at least $75 ahead.

We now headed to Ellis Island which was probably the place I had looked forward to going to the most (if you can believe it). I had my $5 mp from the text promotion and I think I got free play for signing up. We were playing with a guy who used to work at EI and he asked if we were staying at the Super 8. We told him we were at the Aria and could tell he was wondering what we were doing at EI. We had our 3 free rounds from the LVA coupon as I wanted to try their beers from the brewery. The bartender was slow as he helped everyone else and then would check on us last but it was relaxing to sit, drink, and relax a little. I had wanted to eat BBQ or do the steak special but was too full from breakfast and so I just had a slice of pizza. It was pretty good.

I have tried to type this day in about 4 times and I keep hitting the undo button and erasing about 30 minutes of typing.

We headed to Tuscany next. I had a $5 mp which isn't much but I love stopping at every casino I see. We played bj and craps there. A guy was betting big on the don't pass ($100 or so) and I almost felt bad when we made our points as we didn't have that much bet. Didn't win much or lose much here.

We headed to Terribles and I got a free tshirt for signing up with them. Played some coupons but was too scared to do the 2-1 on first bj at the $25 level. I should have just played less than max bet and used it.

Headed over to Hard Rock next. Should have crosses the street earlier as we could have saved some walking. Played a couple of coupons there but I missed getting on the craps table that my friend was at for an hour or so. He had a nice run there and I ended up watching some baseball at the sports book. They didn't have the cfb I wanted to bet posted yet so I just hung out.

We cabbed it (finally) to Bellagio to meet the girls. We ran right into them and checked out the flower garden. We took some pictures for the kids and then headed to PH. We split up for dinner. We went to Earl of Sandwich and they went to Pinks. Wesaw Peepshow for free courtesy of the same connection that got us free tickets to Carrot Top. We all liked Carrot Top better but Peepshow was fine.

We may have done a little more gambling but soon called it a night.

I forgot our trip to Cosmo aftervthe Bellagio. I knew about the $100 deal there so the four of us all did it and agreed to split whatever was left at the end. My friend's wife did hers on the high limit $5 wof. She lost it pretty quickly. Her las spin was only $5 as she got $5 for signing up. I told her not to as she wouldn't get to spin with only one credit. She didn't hit anything but it still came back to haunt us. I sat down as she left to get her money put back on her card. I started spinning and hit a spin about 4 spins in! I spun but it didn't spin the wheel. Then I realized it was still on just a single credit not two! I was kicking myself about it the restof the trip. I lost my money and headed back to get it back on my card. In the meantime my friend's wife hit for $200 on her free play. She had me play the same machine and I hit for $200 too. We had switched from the $5 slots down to a $1 slot. My friend ended up hitting for $150 or so without losing his original money so hewing for the day and would return tomorrow to try again. My wife lost her money and most of her free play and cashed out with only $27. We split up the money and each couple had made around $70 with a $100 to still be played again tomorrow. Out of the four of us we only had one loser but splitting the winnings also smooths out the risk over a group. We have friends leaving for Vegas today. I hope the deal carried over to August.

Hey Criminole! Cosmo's website states their $100 Free Play is over with on July 31. Were you able to doing anything on August 1? I leave for Vegas in a couple days & I would love for them to have extended this promotion. Thanks!

We had all used up our free play at the Cosmo before the 1st so don't know if it extended. I had friends that left yesterday that I told to try it but don't know if they went yet.

Gotta love the spell check. I surprised it only took one double take to get that one.

Pugsammy it is at slotplaycoupons.com . We were able to both get the $50 for $25 as we hadn't gotten cards at either place.

Got up on our last full day of Vegas and headed down to the lobby as wife was still sleeping. Read a magazine for awhile but then noticed $1 bj at the bar. Thought that there was no way I could lose much playing that I sat down and put in $20. After putting in 2 more twenties I ended up leaving down $40. The cards the computer was getting make it very unlikely that I will do that again.

Everyone finally was up and we headed to PH for breakfast. I got my card this time so that the buffet was a little cheaper and with the $10 off coupon from LVA our total was only $15 for wife and I. It wasn't as good as Paris but was still pretty good. The alarm was going off at PH when we arrived but nobody else seemed concerned so we just ignored it too.

We headed back to the Cosmo to try the $100 deal for the only person in our group of 4 that had actually won the day before. He lost his $100 and then lost his other $100 free play too. He had a little money left after playing his free play but decided to run it through again. We still ended up around $70 up a couple for the deal.

We headed back the strip towards MGM where I wanted to play the Majestic Lions and the Sigma game. We stopped at Hard Rock store and bought presents for the girls. Vegasgirl will be happy to know I actually paid full price there. We kept walking and got beers and more presents at a store and took some pictures with some different characters on the street (Transformers, Star Wars, etc.) The wife got a big margarita with an extra shot in it courtesy of our friend.

We arrived at MGM and hunted down the Majestic Lion slot machine. A lady was playing it but finished up after about 5 minutes. I had a hard time getting the machine to take the money but finally got $30 entered and gave up on adding more. Hit for $60 after awhile and decided to cash out as everyone in my group was waiting and watching. We then hit the craps table and had another good run. Walking towards the door we found the Sigma machine that I had forgotten about. I tried one race with three different long shots but none of them hit.

We headed on to Tropicana and did our free slot play from slotplaycoupons.com . The guy at the card club counter had a hard time getting it setup. He was having trouble seeing and the line really backed up behind us. The wife ended up hitting for $200 and I ended up getting a little back over the $25 I had paid for playing there. We also got the win cards there but it was only $15 for $10. The four of us sat down at a bj table and played only about 5 hands but probably won 17 of the 20 total hands played. My wife had doubled her money so was ready to go so we all left too.

We headed over to Hooters since it was right next door. They had done away with their $300 slot promo that was pretty worthless from what I had heard. I thought it was replaced by 12 free wings but the lady acted like she didn't know anything about it and would have to wait for her supervisor to come back. We went and played craps and won again. One of the workers at the tables was asking about tips which I thought was pretty rude. We did tip pretty well but I do it after awhile and after I am well ahead. If I don't win I don't plan on tipping. I think I went back to the card signup to see if the supervisor was there and lost the rest of my group. Ended up at $3 bj table for awhile before I decided to try to find everyone. They were eating and when I found them all that was left was a couple of fried pickles and a little bit of cheese fries. We left after that and headed downtown for our last night.
