I keep hearing other people say then win at the Indian casinos but I can't seem to do it.
The other day, I ran into an acquaintence who was regaling us with the story of how she went to Barona and got a 4OAK, then 4 deuces, then more wins.....she was playing $1 VP. She netted about $4K.
With that, my DH, who refuses to play at Indian casinos, agreed to go there. He would take me and if I win anything significant he would play.

Well, this was not to be an all-day outing so I budgted $100. More than enough for an hour or two of entertainment. You guessed it - I lost it all.

Best hand I got was 4OAK on JOB. One of the machines I moved off of someone else sat down and got multiple 4OAK.

I should stay out of these places.
   ,

it's well known that Indian casinos are tighter than Vegas because they can be - no competition. but $100 is hardly a large enough sampling to show anything conclusive.

You're probably right but when you're putting money in and losing consistently, it's hard to keep throwing more at it.
Plus my mentality is different than when in NV......When I'm on a trip, I plan to play for several hours and budget more. Locally, my budget is smaller.....I can just go home if I don't win.

Aren't all VP machines basically the same? I know the pay tables vary but isn't a 9/6 JOB machine the same in Vegas as it would be in an Indian casino? The Indian casinos by me don't have to report their slot payback % and, like Shifter said, they have a captive audience so they can dial those down as much as they want and still fill the seats but they can't change a VP machine, Right?

My experience say no they are not near the same, while in LV I have hit several Royals and 4OAK but never have hit a Royal here and only 3 4OAK at any Casino here and only know two people who ever have ever hit Royals. When you take in I have probably played 100 hours at Indian for every 1 hour in LV I find it difficult to believe they cant change payout %. That would depend on state though, some have much better regulation than the free for all we gave them here where the tribes have total and complete control of every aspect.

Your arguments are all anecdotal. The statistical variations in outcomes can lead you to believe one place is lucky or tight but actually your just experiencing short term outcomes. The Indian Casino may actually have a higher overall payout.

    my experience is limited
so far, the only time I've walked out of one of these places winning was one time when I won $30 or so on a 4OAK and DH said "let's go"...saving me from giving it back :)

but there is always a first time....

Never played here have ya :evillaugh I have played at every and I mean every major casino in the state and many, too many, of the smaller ones and if you think my argument is anecdotal then come and make a fact based assessment with your own cash. Then try to argue they have a higher payback. Like I said in some places that may be the case,Louisiana for example, but from what I read on so many boards myself and Shifters opinions are closer to reality than your statement.

Bubba read my comments more carefully..... I am suggesting variation hides actual pay backs over the short run. You can't really know without playing millions of wagers. I would bet Shifter comprehends my point.
