    My Trip Report

Hey everyone, delighted to embark upon my second trip report where i will learn from my first one and hopefully make it even better. Last time it was just pure Vegas but i'm having a bit of a saunter across your country and going to various events along the way, feel free to chip in with suggestions and local knowledge and i'm keen to share a beer or two over some video poker with any fellow VMB'ers out there at the same time.

So my schedule looks like this

9th September - Birmingham (UK) to London (UK)
A positioning train and also getting use the £100 and £50 Myvegas chip awards at the Hippodrome Casino in London. Should be a relatively free amount of money and i've even got a groupon for their restaurant too. It looks really good though so i'll take a good look around and take plenty of pictures if i'm allowed.

10th September - London to ORD (Chicago)
Going to meet some Ex=pat friends in Chicago for a few days, planning to watch the opening night of the NFL in a Patriots bar (as a raiders fan this may very well kill me but i'm outnumbered), going to see the not so mighty White Sox with some very good tickets on the Friday night and then off to Riotfest on the Saturday to see System of a Down and Billy Idol amongst many others.

13th September - ORD (Chicago) to San Francisco (SFO)
If there was one part in my plan that carries more risk than Vegas it is this day haha. My plan after a whole day of drinking at a rock festival is to get an early morning flight out of ORD and fly to San Francisco, navigating all the way round the BART in about 1.5 hours to go and see my beloved Oakland Raiders home opener against the Bengals. Hoping to meet fellow forumer Mr Brick at the match around halftime and all fingers crossed for a good start this year!

13th September - SFO to Las Vegas
Now this is the part you're likely to actually care about haha, flying back out of SFO in the evening and getting into Vegas at about 9pm on the sunday, booked in on a paid for night at the Cosmo (c£80/$120) from priceline which i have regretted for some while about not booking directly or staying across the street at PHO. Not many plans to gamble this night as i think i might be a bit tired and emotional by the end of the day.

    14th - 18th September - Cosmo Las Vegas
On a nice freeplay food and drink offer in a terrace studio over the fountains, 10000 points short of platinum status so that will be my main goal for the week. Got tickets for Carrot Top on monday, MJ One on tuesday and have MyVegas Zarkana ticket and potential for whatever i can get from CET Diamond monthly tickets for the wedsnesday. Thursday i want to hit downtown hard so if anyones around then give me a holla.

19th September - LAS to SFO
Going to meet a friend back in San Francisco and we've got some tickets for the Giants baseball match for Polynesian Heritage night which should be a drunken blast. No plans on the saturday but final thing to do before flying home on the sunday is go to the 2nd Raiders match against the Ravens. Brick has kindly invited me to tailgate with him so i'll be looking to enjoy that and then some prime seats squarely in the black hole before a civilised flight back to blighty later that evening.

So thats my plan as is... would be great to get some support, ideas or pals to enjoy with me as most of the trip will be solo.

    Cheers for reading

Looking forward to following your trip report and meeting up at the Raiders first two home games! Safe travels, and good luck at the Hippodrome! If you have any questions about getting from SFO to O.Co, let me know.

Thanks Brick - I've sent you a PM with my details but i'm not sure if my messages are working as there's no record of them in the sent items... if not then i basically said i'll try and reach you through whatsapp or facebook messenger when i'm en route.

Packer - I'm honoured my report is graced by a Vegas legend and thanks for highlighting my overseas faux pa's haha. I saw everyone seems to be getting into town just after i leave as i'm off lunchtime on the Friday... I've looked into flights out and back on saturday/sunday numerous times because it looks like so much fun with the whole reserved craps table etc but they're just a bit pricey for a single day of degeneracy haha but you never know, stranger things have happened :)

Well the first live update isn't a great one haha. Got to the hippodrome casino in London and turned 150 of myvegas money into 40 of real money.

Went down to lolas bar which is really good but the cards weren't going for me. 10 pound minimum which i thought would be ok to at least grind 100 from it but when you lose the first two hands as doubles you know the writing is on the wall.

Walked away with 20 quid after flat betting the min so at least some profit bit yeah bit disappointing.

Top tip for those redeeming at the cash desk (after you have converted the voucher) you need to get the appropriate denominations there ie 25, 5 or 1's they gave me 25's which meant my min table bet would have been 25 quid so I changed them subsequently to 5 pound chips.

Really nice place but yeah not got very lucky. Just gave me two more 5 pound promo chips so ill have dinner then leave. One will go on 27 red, next person to respond pick a roulette number for me will you and ill have a spin in about 30 mins

My two £5 roulette bets did not work, i paced around the room for a good 10 mins thinking about if i should actually withdraw some cash before i thought the better of it and i'll wait for Vegas. Very frustrated to lose so quickly and decisively but it was only Myvegas money and after a couple of beers, dinner and a tip i was up about £3 haha, it all counts.

Have to say thats the nicest casino that i've ever seen in the UK, probably the most expensive in terms of bet minimums but it has the following which i've never seen before:-

Party Pit esque dancers in Lola's bar (downstairs)
    Craps (Again in Lola's)
Smoking tables - i didn't find these but theres a smoking terrace with gaming tables apparently, which is again very rare for the uk!

Today has been a day of travel and i've just landed in Chicago, to a beautifully wet and thundery day haha, i was the muppet wearing shorts and optimism which have now changed. Checked in at the Palmer House hotel and it's really nice, about to head out and hit the nightlife and watch the opening game of the NFL. I could consider with all the travel and all the swift loss last night as bad things, hopefully my luck corrects itself and the Patriots take a beating :)
