    My Trip Report

Well, only a few hours away from flight time. This will be my 1st longer trip (8 nights) since last year's March Madness. Thank god for work front-loading the entire year of vacation in January. I am in desperate need of a reset. Lady friend can't afford to come with this time around, so it's a solo.

The good news is, despite $2k (out of pocket) worth of dental work over the past few weeks, I will be pretty financially set for this trip. It helps that I'm getting paid from work, plus I FINALLY won the Super Bowl of my FFL this year, and will be getting around 500 bones from them after I get back from the trip.

Still, my frugality won't rub off very easily. I used points for 1/2 the airfare, and dropped the cost on the paid portion after a SW sale cropped up. All 8 nights are comped downtown at 4Q & GG. I even decided to take a quick overnighter to Laughlin, and got a $15 room rate at the Colorado Belle. With car rental for the entire trip, my transport & hotel expenses come out right at about $300.

I will be promo chasing and coupon using as always. I have the ACG, freeplay from mailers at 4Q, GG, & the Spike, and I am hoping to use some multiple points days to go Sapphire at Boyd.

I will try to post updates fairly regularly. Boost Mobile is deactivating their network for my phone type in June, plus they increased my cost per minute on the Pay-as-you-go plan from .10 to .25 (yikes). Luckily the free data access still works.

I apologize in advance for the large photo size when I upload. I don't want to waste time in Vegas resizing them, and I like the higher pixel count. I plan to reduce & repost the photos after my return, to make the read a little easier.

Wish me luck, and here goes the party!

Good luck and congratulations on your FFL win! I'm embarrassed to talk about how I've done in my league.

1st night, flight ok, had to wait a few minutes for the gate to open up. Also had to wait for a rental shuttle bus, 1st time I've ever had that happen.

Rush hour on the 15, jumped off at Charleston & took 4th to the 4Q. Checked in, fine room on the scenic 2nd floor.

Ice machine stopped working after a half bucket, had to try another floor.

Went to Palms - adding a new price buster meal - $6.99 prime rib.

Excellent meal, advertised with plain or loaded baked potato, or mashed. Got the loaded baked, wasn't expecting a veggie but got al dente broccoli.

Most of that was written earlier while sober. I went from up a couple hundy to hitting the ATM.

There's a lot I want to report, hey just from last night, but I need to wake up in a couple hours.

    More to come.

Ok, so back to last night. I was at Palms to check out promos & a drawing. The earn & win was mainly kitchen products, so I skipped that part. I did the $25-4-40 promo, cashed out with exactly $40.

I got to the promo area a couple minutes after 8, & the drawing was already over! Oh, well.

Played the 9/6 JOB 50-play pennies, so no quad pics.

Found, to my amazement, several $10 3:2 6-deckers. I asked the pit critter who said all the tables were 3:2 except the 6:5 single deck & the party pit. I sat for a couple shoes, used a matchplay, & skedaddled.

Went across the street to Gold Coast for 5X points & a MP. Played a new game for me DBDW. Earned enough points for a free buffet ACG promo, and made a few bucks between the 2 places.

Headed to El Co, made $10 out of $15 freeplay, then sat down for some single deck action. Lost a hundy, bought in for another, ended up walking down a bit.

Finally made it back to 4Q & the worm turns. $1 10/7 DB - $400 in, 0 out. Let It Ride, down $200. Time to hit the ATM. Probably should have gone to bed.

Over to the Nugget for $25 DD, profit. LVC $10 DD, profit. Cal $5 DD, well at least it wasn't a bloodbath.

    Made back $300+ before crashing.

Photobucket is crashed on my phone so no pics til I figure something out.

And that is just day 1 of 8!

$6.99 for a prime rib and potato at the Palms? I thought those kinds of deals were only at small off-strip casinos. How was it? I'm sure it was $6.99 good but how about in general? What would you say it would be worth normally?

A few hours ago I was ready to regale you with the big comeback story. Well...

Tournament breakfast was not as good as previous ones - all starch & fruit, no eggs or meat. Had 2 bagels & donuts. It filled a need, but after only 3 hours sleep it wasn't enough.

Hit the El Co for some BJ & drawing tickets. Lost some, & not a winner. Back to run my tournament round, not a quad to be found. This will be my problem all day long.

Went back to the room & crashed for a few hours - something that a long trip allows for.

Back in hand, I prepped up & headed for Palace Station, where they had a promo. Lost $15 earning 300 points to get $3 freeplay. Such is the life of a promo chaser. The potential was $1000, so it was worth a shot.

I almost forgot how great their DD BJ is here. DAS, RSA, & 2/3 - 3/4 pen. Played for a while, left with a small profit.

Headed to Gold Coast, played my new favorite game DBDW. Hit quad deuces for $250. So now after hitting up the ATM last night I'm only down $100 for the trip. Woo!

Did the GC buffet - prime rib was nowhere as good as last night at the Palms & no shrimp. For free it was ok. Lost a quick hundy at DD, then headed back downtown.

Somehow I have given back a few more hundred, $200 of which was back at the dollar DB, so I'm back down for the trip $500. No quads in the last 24 hours and that includes 2 tournaments. Ack!

Working on pics, will let you know.

Quad drought is over! After dropping another $200 in the dollar DB, I hit aces for quarters & just missed the kicker.

Pic added to the gallery I linked in earlier post.

Breakfast at the Palms. I missed the steak & eggs special at Ellis Island by 15 minutes, so I came back to sample another of their specials. They have steak & eggs 24 hours - $6.99 NY strip 10 AM to 10 PM & $7.99 t-bone the rest of the time.

If the Pats would have won I would be close to even for the trip, but for now I'm only down a couple hundy.

At Ellis I hit quad 3s on nickel 7/5 Bonus & won my matchplay so $16 profit with $10 freeplay coming tomorrow.

I think I have a new favorite place to eat in Vegas. The steak was great, as was the prime rib the other night. Choice of hash browns or home fries & toast.

Well, off to Gold Coast for 7x points.
