Yeah, I was like within an hour of leaving yesterday and I get 2 phone calls within 10 min minutes of each other. My main guy (CDL driver and heavy duty) that slipped and fell from the previous night on the ice--turns out to be a fractured collar bone and the girl that was going to work full time at my store counter, she winds up checking herself in the hospital with pneumonia.

I was calling x employees all night and prepared to offer 2'xs going hourly rate for a retail and a driver. Everyone capable, out of town.

So bummed out! The weather crippled my people. And tomorrow is supposed to be in the upper 30's if not 40 here.

    Major disappointment.

But like always, Good Luck to Rich and Andrew.

Sorry you had to cancel your trip. We had to do the same a few years ago. Major car issues on a new car and no rental car in sight. We live in a one horse town.

Thanks for the sympathy everyone. It turns out this trip was never in the cards for me, there were too many things that went wrong and I realize now I never had a chance. My wife got into a car accident (she's ok) and has several doctors appointment/physical therapy to go to, she's also limited in what she can do for my 3 year old right now. I was in the emergency room with my little one til 3:30am who was throwing up blood (she's ok as well). Between that and all the plowing I've had to do I'm going on 4 hours of sleep in the past 2 1/2 days...and of course, 2' of snow has the rental business going crazy. I'm juggling bobcats like a f'n circus act. No way I could have left this weekend. Don't feel too bad for me, I had another trip planned for Feb 27th anyway, it's work related so there's virtually no chance I miss it. I will try and go live for that one. Good luck to my boys, i hope you guys make a million. I'm off to bed, have more plowing to do in the morning...

    First Report Installment

we're here! well actually me, my wife Brianna and my buddy Greg got here yesterday afternoon. we got off the tram at the airport and there were about 50 drivers with signs at the bottom of the escalator ... but none with our name on it. we were about 10 minutes early so i figured maybe they were gonna show up in a few. either that or it was going to be a really bad start to the trip if they forgot our limo. we decided to head over and pick up our bags and head back after we got them and hope the guy showed up. it turn out our meeter was already by our baggage claim, which availed our fears. after waiting forever for what must have been the last 3 bags on the plane, we finally were in the limo and headed to the B.

we got in and headed straight for VIP check-in with a slight detour into the conservatory. they did a huge chinese new year celebration in there, which was cool. i'll have to get some pictures of that today and post them. so we got checked in and it went just about as well as you can expect on the second busiest weekend of the year. our penthouse suite was ready and was even in the main tower, which i much prefer to the spa tower because of the long walk from the casino. i asked if we had a fountain view without much hope of really getting one and we were told they were totally sold out (of course), but we were able to score a pool view, which is almost as nice.

the only snag is that Greg was supposed to be in a connector room to our suite, but they only have a handful of those in the entire hotel and we did end up getting bumped out of one of those. but it wasn't terrible because i was able to get his deluxe room upgraded to a fountain view with a king bed. if that's the worst thing that goes wrong, i can live with that!

Rich finally got in about 630 after an hour delay on his flight. with the drive to the airport, getting there early, flight delay and the hour flight, he could have driven here much faster, but oh well. we met up and decided to head over to the Cosmo to scope it out.

none of us were quite sure how to get there,so we hopped in a taxi. only to find out that if you walk out to the street and turn right, the door to the Cosmo is 10 feet away. lol. we tipped the cabbie extra for putting up with such a short fare. once in there we headed for the Identity Club desk and talked to them about getting our cards upgraded and getting in touch with a host. after about 2 seconds a host, Pablo, showed up and introduced himself. we showed him our NOIR/Platinum cards and asked him about getting an upgrade. he said no problem and had them upgrade us to Platinum on the spot. i asked if they had a level above Platinum and they said they do, but it doesn't actually exist yet. it's going to be called the Raven level and it's going to start out being invite only from the CEO of the hotel. they don't even have the cards designed yet and they don't currently have any Raven members. i tried with no avail to get them to make me their first member. :)

so with Platinum cards in hand, Pablo took us on a tour of the place and answered all of our questions. right now besides the wraparound terrace suites, the Cosmo has only 4 Penthouse suites that are all on the 70th floor. the top 5 floors of the hotel are completely empty right now. they're still discussing what to do with them. they may put in more Penthouse suites or they may put a nightclub at the top floor or they may put a big HL room or they may create some "Villa" type accommodations at the top.

after touring the place, we asked if we could see any of the suites. he said all the wraparound terrace suites were occupied, so i asked him about touring one of the Penthouse suites. after making a couple of calls, another guy Javier met us and took us up to the 70th floor. we went through two of the 4 suites. needless to say they were pretty amazing. one had 3 55" TVs, a tub that fills from the ceiling, a bar with a river that ran through it and live plants growing on it, a home theater with 6 lounge chairs and a 75" TV and 3 bedrooms. the other one had the better view of the Bellagio fountains and just about everything north on the strip, but it only had 2 BR and none of the really nice TV stuff. they said no pictures, but we took tons anyway when they weren't looking.

after the tour, we decided to roll some dice. Pablo asked if we were hungry and made a reservation at the sushi bar for later and put a $500 comp on our card. then we hit the craps table! we didn't really get anything super going at first, but it turned around a bit and then we decided to head to dinner. the sushi place was quite good actually, although the menu was a bit confusing. it was pretty authentic too. the only downside is their sake selection left much to be desired. they only had a handful of the top shelf stuff and it turns out they were out of the first selection we picked. but we settled on another selection and it turned out to be really good. after stuffing our faces for an hour and 3 bottles of sake later, we were all feeling ready for some more craps.

this time the dice were kinder and Rich made a great comeback from earlier and ended up walking away with a nice winner. i was up early, but played the field too long and ended up down. so good first night for him, bad first night for me.

Pablo set us up with a limo back to the B and we called it a night about 3am Vegas time, which was 6am our time. today the plan is dune buggies and Le Cirque, so we'll post more later. i'll upload some pics in another post in a few minutes.

That is VERY cool! I am curious as to how you got the $500 comp up front. Did they check your name on a list they had of high rollers brought over from hosts from other properties?

Excuse me for being the buzz-kill here. But when I saw that fur hammock thing, my first question was - How are they going to clean that thing between guests? :yuck:
