    My Trip Report

    Hi everyone,
Not much of a writer but hope you enjoy!

    This was a last minute trip so nothing specifically planned. i lived in Las Vegas from 1994-1997, last real visit was 2005, so really looked forward to seeing all the changes. i also planned on visiting old friends and catching up;

Took about 7.5 hours to drive there, arrived at La quinta, 6;30 LV time. I know, you are saying Lq, WTH? But i am cheap and i got 2 nights for $16 total. my plan for tonight and Tuesday night is use Hotel Tonite app where I have $25 credit so I expect some kind of deal and it is fun to me to not know where i will be staying until noon deals open up. If you couldn't tell, i am definitely low roller.

Gambling- so far all VP and Pai Gow poker. Lost $100 playing Pai Gow at MGM Grand last night, and about $50 playing VP at Hooters. I know, I know silly Hooters but it was fun crowd Saturday night and I had heard about this Pai Gow Poker Commission free game, so had to check that out.

anyway, i will write more later, and i hope you enjoy the pics i took last night just walking around. I know i enjoy pics others post even though we have seen these all many times, thought i would return the favor.

Hope to meet other VMBers tonight at Margaritaville at 7.

wow, just read my own report, sounds so dry but i wish you could hear the excitement in my voice and smile on my face, i am having a blast. thinking of Earl of Sandwhich for lunch but it is hard to decide, so many choices. and of course, the one pic is from where i ate last night, who recognized it?

Yup! Looks like you had a number one, Asian Style! Oh, I mean Animal Style.

How many quarters did you win on the 4OAK? The amount was cut off.

    Good times all around

Smo, won $200 on the 4OAK Aces.

Short update, need from food this morning because you all know why. Almost noon here in Vegas and just getting up and about.

Last night, I was forced to drink many beers at Margaritaville Casino Bar at the Flamingo by Nevyn and Ant1433, it was fun visiting with VMBers. Will definitely try and do meet and greets like that on future trips.

Then I went to the X Burlesque show at Flamingo, it was okay, glad I didn't pay full price, got the discount tickets through tix4tonight.

OH, my mystery hotel that I booked yesterday thru Hotels Tonite app, was by chance the Flamingo. Booked the room, turned out to be a FAB room, did the $20 trick (rather clumsily I might add) and got upgraded to GO room on 22nd floor with the attached view. I was happy.

After the show, hit the Pai Gow table and played for almost 5 hours, mostly just nickel and dime, quite the roller coaster. Good mix of people, lots of joking around, and one cute CW with ties to my little town of Grand Junction, (yes, I shamefully milked that connection, hey she was cute, lol) I literally played on my $100 buy in for 4 hours until (drum roll please), I hit a straight flush with $10 bet so ka-ching, payoff of $500, played almost till 5am walking with total of $580 profit.

So my small bankroll of $700 stands at $950 for the trip and today is last full day of trip. I can live with this! :D

Tonight is Peep Show with Holly Madison, I don't want to go but there was previous thread on board discussing which was best Burlesque show so purely in pursuit of research I shall attempt to find out, you know, for the board! :wink2:

    Thank you for your sacrifice.

Being in Salt Lake City, I've come close to ending up in Grand Junction when almost missing the exit off the highway for Moab. Never actually been there though, but I hear it's a nice town.

Fun day but tiring (damn, I am getting old)

Well, my last day here, got to do the 7 hour drive home tomorrow but luckily still have rest of the week off to recuperate (I was thinking this time)

The picture of breakfast is from Hash House which I think I had about 1pm. I really must remember that it has been 10 years since I tried to do the massive drinking in Las Vegas and although I am still young at heart, the recovery time from drinking and playing cards till 5am is a bit longer these days. Kinda felt crappy all day long.

Hash House food was good but I didn't think anything to write home about which surprised me because of all the raves here about it. Maybe I just didn't order the right thing.

So, I am not feeling that great, and I walked from IP to Venetian, just looking around, then started to head back to Flamingo, stopped in Casino Royale and remembered one of my former standard routines when still tired/hangover. Play 50 play 1 cent VP at Casino Royale. Found a machine, (god it felt good to sit down), and started playing on whopping $20 buy in. Honestly, just killing some time, hoping breakfast is going to kick in and give me some pep cuz the Diet Dr. Pepper ain't doing it so far. Lo and behold I play that $20 for over an hour, in part because of this.

Now don't get to excited, that 4000 credits is a whopping $40 on a penny machine but still fun to see the Royal (and yes, I admit it, I was thinking, shoot, why wasn't I on a quarter or dollar machine). So after about an hour, I am thinking hmm, I have now been awake for 3 hours so for sure, I deserve a nap. I take my 21.25 balance and head out the door back to Flamingo.

Room hasn't been cleaned but I think maybe a good swim will wake me up and re energize me. And guess what, it did. Flamingo pool is great and not too crowded but alas, the music was good, was a bit loud for me. (did I mention, I am turning into an old fart, ha). But I joined some folks batting ball around in the pool and then they started a congo line that went around entire pool, probably 30 or so people and how could I pass on that? Met a nice gentleman and lady from Melbourne who had just finished visiting Colorado and we actually figured out that I was probably 2 hours behind them driving the same route last Saturday, which we thought was pretty coincidental.

So after about 1 1/2 hours at the pool, headed to room, had some time to kill before 7:30 reservation at Center Cut Steakhouse. Nice nap, now I am really refreshed. No problem getting seated at the restaurant, was very impressed with the ambiance and the staff. Was really looking forward to a great steak but have to say was a bit disappointed. I got the NY Strip and it just tasted flavorless to me. Bread and butter and lemon spinach was great but I really wanted a great tasting steak. Sorry, forgot to take pictures.

Then headed over to Planet Hollywood to see Peepshow with Holly Madison. It is a solid show, production numbers are good but it just didn't pop for me. NOW, I will admit that could have been because I was still feeling some effects from my playing till 5am but the folks sitting next to me said almost same thing. So in case you were wondering, IMHO, the X Burlesque show at Flamingo is a better show.

After the show, and since it was my last night in Las Vegas, I felt I had to go explore some more, so walked over to Cosmo to check it out for first time. It was nice but didn't bowl me over. I sat down at yep, you guessed it, another 1 cent 50 play VP machine and put my $20 bill in, playing on slow speed and truth be told, enjoying all the eye candy walking by. Lo and behold, this happened, and although not that much money, hitting 3 royals on one hand was pretty fun. Net result, that $20 becomes $120 and I think the Cosmo is a great place. :D

So now it is about 1am and decide to head back to Flamingo and call it a night. As many of you have expressed, it is always bitter sweet to end your last day in this fun town. Took my last picture walking back.

Hope you all enjoyed reading! Thanks for sharing all your tips and tricks and helping me have a good time on my trip this week. Goodnight!

Now you have me wanting to try those 50 play penny VP machines. At $2.50 a deal, it's at the top of my betting range for slots or VP.

Enjoyed the TR and pics. THX
