    My Trip Report

Well I certainly won't be able to compete with the epic group, but I will do my best to update as much as I can.

SW flight was on time but we ended up spending 15 minutes on the tarmack waiting for the gate to clear, while watching 3 other planes dock as we waited.

No line at Payless again, guy did his best to upsell me on a Camaro convertible, nice change of pace from the gas scam.

At Orleans I was able to get the 5X points no problem swiping after 6 PM. Lot of good it did, lost $100 on DBDW, but got back $15 on BJ.

    Free buffet -adequate as usual.

    <iframe src="https://www.flickr.com/photos/95659762@N04/14112165000/player/90d89626fd" height="333" width="500" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen webkitallowfullscreen mozallowfullscreen oallowfullscreen msallowfullscreen></iframe>

    <iframe src="https://www.flickr.com/photos/95659762@N04/14112267187/player/ba13cc5aaa" height="333" width="500" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen webkitallowfullscreen mozallowfullscreen oallowfullscreen msallowfullscreen></iframe>

Finally got checked in at the Grand around 9:30.

Played 100 points at El Co for the new swipe promo, and got...a klondike bar. Actually I could've gotten one anyways with this hit on the last spin on my 1st 20:

    <iframe src="https://www.flickr.com/photos/95659762@N04/14112188020/player/98437f4876" height="375" width="500" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen webkitallowfullscreen mozallowfullscreen oallowfullscreen msallowfullscreen></iframe>

Made my way up to MSS, no quads at the Boar bar, but a few full houses helped me walk away a few bucks ahead. Later back to the Grand for some BJ & VP.

Down $130 1st night, could have been worse.

Plan for today is Silverton, South Point, Ellis Island, & maybe Max & Cromwell.

Uneventful day so far. Spent $50 at Silverton to win $10 freeplay. Had a lousy score at South Point in the free tourney, man the whole casino smelled like horse manure. I couldn't wait to get out of there. Had 2 slices at Ellis Island, & of course didn't win the 2:00 drawing. When I swiped at the kiosk, it showed a ACG promo, & gave me $10 freeplay. Unexpected! Had another lousy score at Gold Coast in their VP tourney. And back to the room.

Stopped by the pool for last call, $7 for a Sammy, marg's are $12, could be worse.

Here's some pics, down about $200, need a comeback! Still only one quad.

Not much to add, got a couple quads, but dropped a c note on BJ, so I'm still down $300. Moving day to CC, but I'll be back downtown later on.

Yeah always looking for new IPAs...where did you get it, jason?

And hopefully that AWAK meter at the Grand moves up to Flusher levels over the weekend.

And if you make it to Cromwell, let me know the best game you actually find there. Initial reports haven't been promising.

IPA at the El Co keno bar, very good. For comparison I drink the Marker at MSS & the amber at CBC.

AWAK was up to 700+ last night, but 7/5 really sucks. The nickel game at El Co was 9/5.

I'm not an IPA drinker, but my brother is and he claims the one from Chicago Brewing Co., inside Four Queens is one of the best he has had.

I'll have to look for that next time. Last time I stopped in there was 2011 and I just had a flight of their normal four and thought MSS was better so didn't return. I'm not surprised they've stepped up their game with the whole craft brew revolution thing going on. Freshness definitely plays a big part in beer, especially IPA, so always love drinking the places where you can see the fermentation vessels. ;)

Also great to know that even El Co is comping some decent beers these days. Downtown is great for the beer lover, don't forget to check out Banger Brewery.

Figures I would skip 4Q this last trip. Downtown really got shorted in my plans...again. :grrr:

Yesterday was a disaster, had to hit the atm in the wee hours, & still couldn't get any kind of traction going. Got plenty drunk though. Even meeting up with the Gaggles group couldn't turn things around.

Today wasn't much better, but then I finally "booked" a win with the Spurs money line.

Had the $10 surf & turf at Jerry's Nugget, steak was tender, lobster a bit overcooked, but a good deal with soup/salad & potato.

2 more nights after tonight, it's a marathon not a sprint, right? Here are some highlights.

The disaster continues, now down $900 for the trip. Only one quad yesterday. Grand As + kicker back up to $800 as of last night.

Ate at Pizza Rock for the 2nd time this trip, hh after 10 PM $7 personal pizzas, had the Molinari, very good, high praise from an east coast pizza snob. Great beer selection also had a Ballast amber $4 during hh.

Checked into Plaza for last 2 nights, south tower, much nicer than before the remodel.

Enjoy the pics, wish me luck it's chase time.

Good luck and I hope you at least get back to even. You can always go back to Pizza Rock a third time to make you feel better.

What's the opposite of comeback? Tried like heck but can't get any traction going. BJ at El Co, Grand, Cal, MSS - all down.

Went to the Frankie Scinta show at the D, it was a nice distraction.

Got to MSS to play at the boar bar & it was CLOSED. It was supposed to open at 2:30, but at 3 AM it was still roped off. Barkeep at 777 said it would be closed all night.

    <iframe src="https://www.flickr.com/photos/95659762@N04/14141916978/player/93a7af68e5" height="333" width="500" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen webkitallowfullscreen mozallowfullscreen oallowfullscreen msallowfullscreen></iframe>

    <iframe src="https://www.flickr.com/photos/95659762@N04/14328585275/player/dd46375c93" height="333" width="500" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen webkitallowfullscreen mozallowfullscreen oallowfullscreen msallowfullscreen></iframe>

Ended up playing Let It Ride while waiting for the bar to open hoping for a miracle, no dice.

Back to the Plaza, lost more on vp, then for some reason I stuck some money in a slot & hit this in about 2 minutes.

    <iframe src="https://www.flickr.com/photos/95659762@N04/14141943619/player/b8e629ef4b" height="333" width="500" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen webkitallowfullscreen mozallowfullscreen oallowfullscreen msallowfullscreen></iframe>

So the only game I have a net win on during the trip is slots. Ack!

I need to press up to $25 BJ to come back, or just chill out with quarter vp today to minimize any additional losses.

Thanks for the live report. Any insight on what the maintenance at Boar's Head was about? No changes to the JoB pay table I hope.
