    My Trip Report

I'm on JetBlue's inaugural lucky flight number 7 direct from Fort Lauderdale to Las Vegas. Because it was the inaugural flight they had some hoopla at the terminal.

They also brought out the fire trucks and sprayed water on the plane as an inaugural flight tradition.

The reason for this trip is to meet my buddy who is an equipment manager for University of New Mexico. Lobos and just a good excuse to go to Vegas.

My rough plans are to drive up to Mesquite tomorrow morning for a round on Wolf Creek Golf course, a bucket list course for me. Then hightail it back to the Bellagio and watch my Noles beat Louisville at 4:30. Golf at Tuscany Golf course on Friday morning, then meet my buddy at Sam Boyd Stadium, as he gets the locker room and coaches box ready for the game on Saturday. I plan to hang out with my buddy and his work friends Halloween evening until they have to get back for curfew. I have no plans for Saturday and will just take it as it comes.

Oh! There will also be a lot of gambling interspersed in there.

Ok! Back to watching the World Series Game 7 on Directv on the plane. Gotta love JetBlue.

The flight was uneventful, except that they had a little gift bag on all of the seats. The bags didn't have anything great in them, just sunglasses, a pen, mints, and a Vegas magazine.

They also had some trivia questions for prizes. The questions were (1) When did Las Vegas celebrate its 100th anniversary? (2) What was the first hotel casino in Las Vegas? and (3) Who designed the famous Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas sign? In addition they played what they called seat bingo and drew two seats. The passenger in those seats received two complimentary round trip flights. I did not win anything.

I got off the plane and went down to pick up my golf clubs and bag. (Tip: JetBlue charges $50 for the second checked bag, but if your bag is carry-on size, you can check the bag at the gate for free and leave it with the baggage handlers just before you board the plane.). I checked my carry-on because I had to wait for my clubs anyway.

I walked over to the Rental Car shuttle and headed over to the rental car center. Thanks to Dollar Express, I bypassed the long line at the counter and went straight my car.

Ok! Need to get a coffee and bagel. I will update last night's gambling a little later.

I got to the hotel, checked in, asked for a high floor, didn't care about view. I got a room on the 28th floor facing the highway.

I got cleaned up in the room and headed down to get my gamble on.

I use the envelope system and had a $600 budget for Wednesday night. I went down to the VP bar so I could quickly get a couple of Vodka sodas. I was playing $1 DDB and within a couple of minutes hit quad eights (sorry forgot to snap photo, 1st live TR). I got up to about $400 on my $100 buy in, but burned it back down to $200.

Then I spun through another $100 on a Top Dollar machine.

I went over to a BJ table and bought in for $500 and burned through that in a shoe and a half. Terrible table, could not get on any winning runs.

I finished up the night burning through my final $160 or so playing VP and slots. Bad first night, but today is another day.

    Off to golf!

Ok! I suck at these live trip reports, but here's an update from yesterday.

I went down to the little breakfast place in the walkway leading to the conference rooms and grabbed a bagel and cream cheese.

I picked up my car and drove out to Mesquite for golf at Wolf Creek. I am glad I made the trip out there, I really enjoyed the course. Here are a few pictures.

    [IMG][IMG][IMG]

I played with an older couple from the Seatle area and while they were nice, they were really slow. Like playing with the old couple from Caddy Shack. I started the round off with a birdie and was even through 5 holes, but it fell apart after that and I shot a 99.

I drove back to the Bellagio and went to the snack shop next to the sports book for a sandwich. I got a turkey club and went over to the sports book bar to watch the FSU game.

I really was not happy with FSU going down 21 - 0 in the first half until a late touchdown with a lucky fumble recovery in the end zone. I went back to the room to shower and change at half time.

I watched the third quarter in my room, and went down to the sports book for the fourth quarter.

No matter what you think of Jameis Winston as a person, that guy can sling the football. Way to go FSU.

Now for the gambling. It was a crazy roller coaster, that ended up burning through pretty much my entire Thursday bankroll $1k.

Two stories of note, one win, one loss.

    First the win.

I went and played a multi denomination Top Dollar machine chose quarters and put in $100. I hit the max bet button and boom, hand pay on first spin $1,220. The thing was it didn't look like something that should be a hand pay, it was something like double double cherries. I was kind of drunk, and then I realized that max bet was not $9 like I thought, but $90, good thing it hit or I would have been pissed at my stupidity.

    Now the loss.

BJ is my favorite game, but it's been killing me. I bought into a $50 table with $500 and I was winning until I hit one of those make or break hands, that broke me.

I had a pair of 2s against a dealer 4 with $150 on the hand. I split and got an 8 on the first hand. Double and another 8. I got another 2 on the second hand spit again. Got a 7 on that hand and doubled again and got a 4 or another bad card. On the third hand, I had something bad, but thankfully no double. The dealer ends up with 19 and I lose all bets $750.

    Ok golf at Tuscany today.

But 5 or 6 hrs. to play golf is almost always cheaper than gambling, no matter what the green fee

Nice Wolf Creek photos! Hope you post some from Tuscany, too. Too bad about the old couple from Caddyshack; that had to be frustrating. Also too bad about the epic BJ hand; seems so rarely that those monster hands go the player's way.

I drove out to Tuscany Golf Club, for some golf. I was on the range when I heard the starter call my 10.24 tee time, but I wanted to hit a few more practice balls, so I did not get to the tee until the threesome I was paired with had already teed off. The starter drove me out to meet them in the fairway and I hopped on one of their carts.

The course was in good condition, but I did not take any photos. I played with three older gentleman, two that were brothers and in town for their mother's 98th birthday party. I played a mediocre round, I just couldn't hit any drives and was constantly starting in bad position.

When I started the round, I felt pretty good, but I think I was still a little drunk from the night before. I started to feel pretty crappy around the 13th hole. I powered through, but I think it effected my came. I believe I shot a 94.

After golf, I drove over to Sam Boyd Stadium where my buddy was getting the locker room ready for the game the next day. I caught up with my buddy for a little while at the stadium, but since I wasn't feeling so great, I left there pretty quickly and headed back to Bellagio. One thing I noticed on the drive back is that there is another Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas Sign on Boulder Highway as you drive into town.

I got back to the hotel and decided I would walk over to Cosmo for some Secret Pizza. Cosmo is definitely where the young and beautiful hang out. The pizza hit the spot.

I gambled for a little while at Cosmo and burned through another $400 , about $200 chasing a $25k royal on progressive VP, and $200 on three card poker.

I walked back over to Bellagio and went to my room for a little rest. I only got to rest for a few minutes, when my buddy called and said he and his crew were walking the strip and headed to Bellagio to watch the fountains.

So I took a quick shower, put on my costume, a yellow bedazzled dress and pink bedazzled floppy hat, the outfit is actually the Duffer outfit from a golf tournament the I play in and has to be worn the following year by the player voted the golfer with the funniest duffer moments from the tournament.

I met up with my buddy and his guys out in front of the fountains. Waiting for the 7 pm fountain show. Most of his guys are under age college kids, so they were enjoying the opportunity to buy beers from the illegal beer vendor outside the Bellagio fountain. 7 pm arrives and the announcement comes, due to wind the 7 pm show will not go on. The guys were disappointed, but I told them the real show was over at Cosmo. We walked over to Cosmo, but it was pretty dead. Just too early. We walked around Cosmo for a little bit, then my buddy head to back to the Venetian, get their car parked at the Venetian and get back to their team hotel in Lake Las Vegas. I said goodbye to my buddy and went back into the Bellagio for some gaming.

The gambling went very badly and I got on tilt. I started off at the sports bar plying $1 VP burning through $200. Played another $200 at Let It Ride and hit nothing good. Burned another $200 playing various slots until I had burned through my entire Friday $1k bankroll.

At this point I was a little drunk and pissed that I wasn't hitting anything. So I went back up to the room, took off my dress and decided it was time to get serious. I took my entire Saturday bankroll, $1k and headed straight to a $50 BJ table to get it back. I went to an empty table because I wanted to play fast and furiously. Well here's a tip, don't gamble drunk and angry. I couldn't get on any runs and blew through that $1k in less than two shoes. Now I was broke, drunk, tired, and dejected. I headed back to the room and crashed.

Today is supposed to be crappy weather outside. I still plan to walk around the strip and take some pictures for the board. I will also check out some of the games and the Breeder's Cup at the sports books.
