1st time poster; committed daily lurker. It’s with great pleasure that I can finally contribute to a board that feeds my daily Vegas addiction. I’ll cut the crap, and get into the details as I take off this evening. The Dates: Sept 1-Sept 7. Caesars(1)-Aria(2)-Cosmo(2)-Pho(1) The variety exists only because of personal preference to stay different places, and make multiple places home base. Few people like doing this or understand it, but I pack light, and have always likened myself to a nomadic gypsy, so it fits. I will likely complain throughout trip each time I need to re-iron a shirt or haul a suitcase in 40C weather. All nights comped, minimal FP/RC at each. The Backstory: I’m embarking on my 21st Las Vegas adventure (all in last 5 years). Some of those trips for work, most for pleasure, and almost always solo. Not the anti-social independent type, but we all have a way that we like to do Vegas. After a couple trips waiting on others, compromising on dining choices, and not to mention differing sleep schedules, disputes on where to go, and how to get there etc., I find that I get along with Vegas best on my own terms. I have also met a great deal of locals in Vegas from dealers to bartenders to CW’s to Hotel staff that I can always count on for a night out, or companion at the pool. This alleviates any lonely man-tears, and can often enhance, or even make a trip. The Disclaimer: I have read countless trip reports on this board, and find that my own personal experience of Las Vegas is somewhat different than what most others have reported. I plan on giving a very honest (not quite PayTriple) account of my Vegas experience. Always respectful though. Some I will make proud, others will warn their daughters. A small few have voiced their disinterest in TR’s full of drunken degeneracy, and prefer the monotonous redundant reviews. That will not be found here. But I do respectfully understand why that is important also; just not on my agenda. If you’re not interested in the tales of gambling while half-cut, going out and meeting the beautiful women of the city, and the juvenile behavior that goes along with this kind of trip then you may not be the target audience for Las Vegas: Trip 21. The Gameplan: Bankroll is roughly 5K for this trip (Thanks CAD:USD conversion for dcking me on that) . Not as big as some, but enough to enjoy myself solo and make a mess of the city I love for a few days. Relevant Itinerary and My Mumblings: First Friday on Fremont St. I have neglected downtown my previous couple trips, and also never taken in the chaos of First Friday festivities and the swarms of people that brings. Plenty of College Football/Baseball Sportsbook bets – luckily this is opening weekend for CFB. I typically will bet anywhere from $200-1000/game, so can make or break a trip, but did allow me to return home on Fall 2015 trip as a 10K winner riding the Royals in the WS. Meet up with 3 or 4 local friends that I’ve made over the past couple years. Wine them, dine them, wine them more, make bad decisions. 4 stage approach. Basic. Check out both Caesars and Aria’s spa while staying as a guest at each. Sweat out some booze, and flirt with the spa attendants. Use a couple MyVEGAS rewards: Freeplay at Aria, Buffet at Aria, and Luxor Temptations Sunday pool party which leads me to next; Luxor Temptations Sunday pool party. This is a LGBT event, and although I don’t identify with any of the above, I have met some fantastic members of this group in the city, and have been asked endless times to join, so I agreed to go this trip. Will report on my experience. Need to procure speedo for this… Picture NOT to follow. Familiar places where I’ll eat & drink: Twin Peaks (I’m a young/middle aged man…truthfully, if I was half interested in their food, I would eat every meal there), Nine Fine Irishmen (patio), Tom’s Urban (patio), TAP @ MGM, Julian Serrano, Mon Ami Gabi, Double Barrel New Places I plan to add and will report on: Beer Park @ Paris, and Beerhaus @ the Park, and anywhere else my local connections recommend for rare scotches and whiskeys, and other great libations. Gambling: Bankroll this trip is to be completely emptied. This is usually the case whether I like it or not, but I have been on previous trips where I have really focused on sticking to strategy, playing only premium VP machines, and BJ paytables. This trip I’m not planning to stress about it. I totally understand why others that do this, and they are wiser, and more thrifty than I, but at times it can be exhausting. While this will be in the back of my mind, I will sit where I want, when I want, with the best bartender/ambiance/dancing 20-something and donate my money to the casino’s without any stress of the 2% variance I am giving up. I will play VP, BJ, Craps and Baccarat. You’re welcome for leaving all the premium chairs to the rest of you. Unless I get up early, $500 buy in at the tables and hit the road after an hour or so if I’m still alive. Any money I make is likely to be spent on something hilarious. Great memories are worth much more to me than a few hundred bucks, so hope I can report what I come up with this trip to outdo what I have in the past. Couple sessions per day of whatever game is on my brain, and out to enjoy the scenery (wasted) the rest. Lounge at Pool: some hate this and say, I don’t go on vacation to lay at a pool. I get that completely as well, but my work hasn’t allowed any free time this summer, so this will be a nice opportunity to relax (read: drink/stare aggressively) Details you don’t care about: Depart: YYZ-LAS 9/1 in the PM on Air Canada Return: LAS-YYZ 9/7 in the AM on Delta T-7H to take off, and I cannot wait to get out of the office.
