I just checked into my flight and a hazardous material warning came up saying you couldn't take either lighters or matches on board (among other things). Is this new? I know you couldn't a while ago, but I thought they had lifted that restriction.

Thanks. So I'm assuming when the warning included lighters, they meant the torch lighters. Oh well, I've brought a lighter and matches with me on my last several flights and haven't had a problem.

Same here. Funny thing is, before I was aware of the info that I linked to above, I used to always toss a book of matches in the outer zipper pocket of my checked luggage. Then I learned that I was breaking the rules by doing THAT, rather than just putting them in my carry on or in my pocket!
