My wife unexpectedly passed away this week.

She had a will which made things easier but there was one huge issue which I would like to warn others about.

Much of our lives today are done through email; ebill payments, communications etc.

PLEASE add your account passwords to your will, if not your spouse has no way to access your emails.

Despite a death certificate, power of attorney and probated will entities such as Hotmail will not provide account access info.

    Sorry for your loss!
About every 6 months I provide my wife with an updated list of all our accounts and passwords. I also include all email, Gmail, Facebook log-in info. Even VMB, so she can pass on when I depart.

So sorry for your loss. It's a total out of body kind of experience and then having to deal with Hotmail on top of that? Ugh! So sorry.

I keep a list of passwords for the work stuff for my husband. I also included contacts for people who can help him keep the lights on. But my personal stuff? Not so much. I never really thought that stuff would be important. Good food for thought. Thanks!

So sorry for your loss. Nothing worse than death. Be strong if possible. If you have kids hope they are ok. Terrible. God bless her. And you.

Thoughts and prayers to you and your family.

Your tip to provide passwords is a good one I've never thought about. A good one I plan to act on.
