Sorry, was lazy and didn't want to go searching for a prior thread on this so I just created a new thread.

While staying at the Cal I decided to wash my clothes so I didn't need to bring along as much as I normally do. I heard about the laundromat at the Cal so I went searching for it. The laundromat is located in the RV park area. I didn't even know it was there. Beware, it isn't in the parking lot across the Cal and MSS but is further down Main St. Actually right after the overpass. You enter a fenced in area and proceed a little until you get to the RV park. There are also restrooms (not sure if they also had showers in them since I never used them) for the RV people. You need a card key to get into the laundromat and restrooms. Unfortunately you need a MSS card key so I had to go to the front desk at the MSS to get a card key. They checked to make sure I was staying at a Boyd property before giving me a card key so I guess the laundromat is only for Boyd guests.

There were between 4 to 6 washing machines and a similar number of dryers. The wash cost $1.50 so it was a good deal for a full sized washing machine. The dryers cost $1.00 for 30 to 40 minutes so was a decent deal also. Unfortunately if your clothes don't dry you have to put in another $1.00 for 30 to 40 minutes since it doesn't allow you to put in anything less. I was lucky, my clothes dried after the first dollar.

There was nobody using the laundry facilities while I was there so I had free reign on washers and dryers. They also have a vending machine containing soaps and softeners. I forget how much it costs, maybe a buck or buck and a half for them. (don't quote me on this as I brought my own stuff so I never used the machine).

The MSS front desk clerk said to drop the card key in the drop box near the restrooms but I kept it with the hope that I can use it for future washes (not sure if they change the access codes regularly).

Anyway just wanted to post for people staying at Boyd properties downtown that want to wash their clothes.

Thanks, going back in December and was searching for info on laundromat today. How far walk from entrance to MSS? 8 days staying at MSS and Cal and this would let us bring 1/2 the clothes. It is considered an MSS RV park, so that is why you need their key.

Not very far, probably at most 10 min walk from MSS (following rules on crossing streets at marked crosswalks, etc., lol). Nah, just jaywalk when you get close to the place and it is probably a 5 min walk. They recently paved Main St. in that area so very easy to get to.

In your opinion is it a relatively safe area? (no questionable people, bothersome panhandlers, etc?)

At Sam's Town RV park, they change the access codes every Sunday, so I think that would likely be the practice at MSS too.

    Thanks for posting this info.

Actually they removed all the homeless that were hanging out along Main St (north of the overpass). Or maybe it was because they were resurfacing the streets (so chased away the homeless) but the whole area looks clean and free of debris. I didn't see anyone hanging out in the area by the entrance to the RV park, nor anyone in the area between the RV park and MSS.

Not sure about the one at MSS RV park because they just gave me the standard MSS room key so not sure if they have codes on standard keys that change regularly. From what I hear if you have a MSS room key you can get into the laundromat.
