Hopefully this is the right section for this.

The wife and I will be flying in to Vegas for 6 nights in early August. We're heading to the Grand Canyon for the 4th day/night of our trip and are tossing around the idea of heading to Laughlin for the 3rd night.

I have read that the Riverwalk area is really nice and most of the casinos are easily within walking distance of each other with Harrahs being set off a bit further south.

Where would you recommend staying to make the most of a night in Laughlin? Also, is there anything you'd recommend checking out while there or anywhere you'd recommend to eat?

We stayed a Harrahs several times. Yes, it is by itself but there is a water taxi that will take you up the river.

I've stayed at Harrah's in the Presidential Suite and can highly recommend it if you can get it comped, dealers are very friendly at Harrah's and it has a pretty cool beach and an adults only pool.

My first trip to Laughlin was last April. I stayed at Laughlin River Lodge and liked it a lot. The room was under $50 for a friday night, and no resort fee. It was very spacious, clean and comfortable.

Harrah's seems to be a little bit off compared to all other casinos. The rest are all fair game. Also note that Tropicana is not by the river, all the rest (on the west bank) are by the river.
